I played the closed beta. It does have gacha elements. There are abilities in the game called "Imagines" and these can be bought via the gacha. The Imagines do boost your characters power by quite a bit. Although it seems kinda pointless since the game is PvE and hard mode dungeons are locked until the game has been out for a while. Also, the chances of rolling a rare Imagine are quite low. You'd probably need to spend between $500 to $1000 to get maybe a chance at one. Although maybe that wont be an issue for whales.
