Everyone in the cast does have a somewhat modern lingo aside from Kratos but they still talk in a relatively old fashioned way in the term of casual sentence structure they use. Atreus doesn't just go "sup" to everyone, he makes long winded overly formal introductions to everyone he meets.Odin is the only one in the cast that really acts like modern archetype and it fits especially considering the mask narrative is basically a metaphor for Odin wanting to break from the narrative.He was definetly the most memorable villain I've seen in a game since pagan min and nothing really better came sense. I especially really like how realistic and well his manipulation of Atreus comes along. He knows from the get go he won't get him to flip on his father and he doesn't even try, but he in subtle always always tries to make Atreus think that he's not as big of a threat as he is by appearing like a goofy mob boss, so Atreus doesn't take him as seriously as he really should.

It would have been acceptable if once past the point near the end where Odin is fully mask off he turned into a villain with some presence, but he never did. Just remained a whiny old man, him yelling and trying to be intimidating in his boss fight is just sad.
