Why didn't nintendo just call the 3DS the 2DS. Was there really ANY point in the 3D gimmick?The 2D flat is a superior console in handheld form

This thing was better than the entire 3DS line up. All they had to do was just make these with IPS screens, dual speakers and add a cstick for the new modelWhy didnt they make a special version of these with IPS screens, brighter, more power with the c stick and call it the new 2DS for the 30th anniversary in 2015 and ship the 3DS line off in good spirits, instead they made the atrocitiy that is the new 2DS XL which looks awful. It's not like the PCB was that complicated it was one fucking piece.I hated the 3DS feature. It was a fucking joke. Imagine all the fucking stupid development costs and money wasted on this joke which could've been an actual good console hardware. Hopefully in the future there's OLED mods.

>>722801912Nintendo was absolutely obsessed with gimmicks and thought every new console needed an "edge" to make it feel like you're not just buying the same system but stronger and for the 3DS, it was the 3D feature. They obviously knew it wasn't an essential feature and that people stopped giving a fuck about it after a few years which is why they ended up releasing a budget version without the 3D
>>722801912Companies were trying to make 3D TVs the next big thing around 2010 after the success of Avatar and Nintendo were obsessed with gimmicks in this era after the success of the Wii/DS. Really glad they learned their lesson with the Switch 2, no intrusive gimmick, no retarded name that confuses normies, just a more powerful Switch.
