Is Starfield in any way better now than it was at launch?
>>722816269i wouldn't know. havent played it since launch.
>>722816362I was certain they would at least try to rework or implement systems to make the game better down the line, given it was a new flagship IP from Bethesda but seems like they just gave up.
>>722816441>try to rework or implement systems to make the game better down the linei dont know man. i cant think of any other of their games they've done that with. Fallout 76 maybe? They patched Fallout 4 ages ago and its been broken on consoles ever since. The only reason Skyrim got where it did was because of the community.
>>722816269>>722816362>>722816441>>722816783
>>722816783True, and the modders never even bothered with Starfield. This descriptor gets overused here but the game really is soulless.
>>722816830
>>722816269less worsestill really bad
>>722816892what did they implement? anything to improve the gameplay loop at all?
>>722817063we got a moon buggy
>>722816269The main problem wasn't the actual gameplay, it was the loop and story. The story is a shit millennial story with reddit responses and the loop of landing in different areas by using multiple menus and loading screens is shit and unavoidable too. They can't fix the story and they can't fix the loop because they used an engine not built for what they tried. What can they actually change? They added the buggy for travelling, if they made POIs randomly generated and added more per landing site, the game is still shit. There's no reason for you to travel 10km to a different POI.Starfield is a badly thought out concept that was awfully executed by an awful development studio.
>>722817974Summarised it pretty well here. Feels like a game that should've been canned halfway during development when they realised they couldn't implement what they wanted to do well enough in the constraints of the systems they had. Almost seems like it was a sunk cost at that point and the higher ups figured they could at least make a serviceable game and to just ship that.
>>722816852It's gotten plenty of mods and just got a sex framework which is impressive because the modders had to start of 0. The thing with Skyrim modding is that no one wants to move on from it. There will never be a modding quite as big.
leaker here. PS5 port is shadowdropping in November after being forced to work on one not long after release. The pivot wasn't so bad for development due to writer strikes putting the 2nd DLC Starborn on pause, so it worked out well. signging out. The release date was probationary.
>>722821372Fake and gay. Wouldn't make sense to launch it without the DLC content drop.
>>722821482starborn probably will launch with it, buggy & creations store were both shadowdrops i leaked, my sources are very good.
>>722816830>>722816865
they released a DLC they were obligated to release because people bought Deluxe Editions that included it. the DLC was apparently pretty short and not very interesting.>yeah there's this group of fanatical SPACE SNAKE cultists whose tenet is that the galaxy is an ouroboros snake eating itselfhow do you make that boring? idk ask Emil to write it he finds a way
>>722821557Is Tehran Armada dropping at the same time?
>>722818616Starfield is Todd's dream game since forever, thats the funny thing.
>>722821634The amount of content in the DLC is fine. Most of the content is in Dazra itself, but you rush the main story it'll take only a couple of hours. The msq's ending is ass, but Dazra itself is decent
>>722816269Yes, they fixed the game breaking bugs (took way too long) and they added a car for people who dont like to run
>>722816852Didnt play the game award
>>722816269patches and mods cant fix a bad story, bad optimisation, bad UI, bad design and a loading screen every 30 seconds
>>722816441the investors who lost 400 million probably pulled the fuck out, got a tax refund for the govt to cover their losses and told Bethesda to immediately start working on an Oblivion Remaster to save the company
>>722817063The basic gameplay loop is absolutely fine, in fact it's the best it's ever been in a bethesda game. It's the lack of lore, the fragmented loading screen world, and many of the stories that kinda suck.
>>722822138Optimization can literally be improved thoughever
>>722822183That's not how any of this works.
Its MUCH better than it was at launch. But it doesnt matter, its like removing all the shards of glass from a glass of diarrhea
Its about the same, totally abandoned game desu
The fact that the have abandon this game makes me feel good for TES VIIt's gonna be amazing.
>>722822702lol lmao
>>722822702>TES VI>It's gonna be amazing
>>722822702>amazingYou mean so terrible that it's absolutely hilarious, yes.
>>722822702>TES VI: India will be amazing
>>722823212>>722823251It's fucking TES. It's idiot proof. Everyone will want to play it and everyone will care.
>>722821372>>722821482November actually would make sense to me, because if something isn't coming very soon then their lack of communication would be even crazier. It really is a shame how slow and few the updates have been. I'm still working on finishing the game, because there is good stuff in there and there's nothing else like it, but it feels like it's become such an afterthought to them that the potential the game has will never be fully realized.
>>722816269>Starfield It's called saarfield
>>722816269starfield just like cybertrash 2077 are fundamentally broken on multiple levels and cannot just be fixed with patches. to fix these games they need to be remade.
>>722825523I thoroughly enjoyed playing through Cyberpunk 2077 last year with Phantom Liberty. That game actually did get much better over time.
>>722825523Cyberpunk was a fun and colorful game right from launch. Starfield at launch sucked, still sucks, isn't fun and takes pride in being ugly.
>>722825993>>722826196cdpr cock suckers need not apply. you are trash just like cybertrash 2077 and just like the game you cannot be fixed.
>>722816441They are working on it, they teased a new DLC and there's mentions of sustained space travel in the new creation kit.
>>722825523Starfield is a way better game than cyberpunk at launch and i'd give it about 5 years for people to say it's a great game once they drop a few more updates
What's the status on the star wars mod?
Why do people say it's abandoned when they literally teased the next DLC and they're still updating the game?
>>722816269not really. i enjoy the game but it is fundamentally the same, if you didn't like then you won't like it now.
Starfield can probably be best described as throwing every space epic trope into a big pot, sprinkling some Highlander elements into it, and under cooking it. It's serviceable for people who like to risk eating meat that's partly raw, kinda like steak tartare, but the average person will look at it and think that it's bad for you.
>>722816269>Is Starfield in any way better now than it was at launch?
>>722816269They improved performance by a lot and they added the buggy, bounty hunter system and other QOL fixes which makes the game way more fun to play. Although at this point with the rumors circling about overhauls to space travel and POI coming for the Switch2/PS5 release, I'd wait until that comes out before I can highly recommend starfield.
>>722826962>>722827348The infinite space travel sounds legitamately worse than loading screens. Just point your ship over here and go to bed (irl) to get to your next destination.
>>722828109that's partly why i dont mind the game having loading screen space travel. in stuff like elite and NMS you have the hyper drive sequences that are, for all intents and purposes, fancy semi-interactive loading screens. i really dont want to fly all that way in real time
>>722828338Only loadscreen for NMS is when jumping systems. In system flights is all seamless and capped by your SSD loadspeed.Elite and Starfield are loading screen messes but NMS really isn't.
>>722816865He truly was a real human bean
>>722828462yeah if starfield had NMS syle in-system travel i think most of the complaints would've been more muted. isnt that what they're rumored to be adding?
>>722828338In the end it's just an option. Just warp immediately or just fly to the location taking time. People prefer different types of space flight depending on the mood.
How much of a nightmare will TES6 be?
>>722829354Paid mods will fix it
>>722829354It'll be their best game yet.
>>722829179This would make sense if there's random events during travel, like in TES when you get jumped by bandits, or discover an usual PoI on the way, etc. I somehow don't think they're going to do that for Starfield. It will literally be "loading screen" or "overlay idle for [X] time".
>>722829696There are random events everytime you hit the orbit of a planet. Maybe they'll add more inbetween maybe they wont.
I'm waiting until they stop doing updates like I do with 90% of games these days. I'd probably play through it sooner if it had gore like Fallout though.
>>722829354i think it will feel amazing to play but will be sewered by the inevitable terrible writing. there are some things i really love about starfield but the writing is certainly not one of them. every character, even the big bad hunter starborn who kills your friend speaks in current year-style ironic/sarcastic quips and it's fucking unbearable
>>722829354They don't have to reinvent the wheel for TES6 so hopeful it wont be too bad. I'm kinda wondering if Todd's repeated, stubborn efforts to make every subsequent game he makes appeal to broader demographics has been stunted after Starfield.Surely, after all the backlash around the bland story and setting, even he realises they went too far with their attempts to appeal to everyone with Starfield. Maybe he'll reign it in for his last TES. Who knows though.
>>722816269I don't think Starfield is getting any better since the world and core game is boring. Is it still getting post launch support from Bethesda?
It's honestly pretty fun to play but it costs way too much for what it is and the dialog sucks ASS. Some aspects of the game look and feel stellar and others feel like half baked hackjobs done by cheap outsourced labor.Every other negative steam review has like 100 hours played. I think that tells.. something about it. It's almost good but the flaws it has are too fundamental to fix with patches or even mods.
>>722830410Yeah it's gotten constant updates and they teased the next DLC.
>>722830608They said they're working on overhauling the game's biggest issues, we'll see if they do anything meaningful when that comes out but you're right it's a flawed game.
>>722830410It is, but they've slowed down on releasing the updates, supposedly because people were complaining about all the past updates from last year not significantly improving the base game. This is all we know about what's coming in the future:1. Interplanetary Travel based on code leaks from a previous Creation Kit update2. A supposed DLC called Terran Armada teased in an anniversary video3. Something Starborn related based on a trademark filed by Zenimax4. Whatever Tim Lamb was teasing during last month's developer spotlight
>>722830379It seems like woke in particular is being rolled back so coupled with that and hopefully learning from Starfield, it won't be a total disaster
>>722832104Wish they had a survival mode that wasn't complete trashStarvival is extremely scuffed
Watchtower came out which is pretty funThe base game not so much
>>722822185>The basic gameplay loop is absolutely fineHA
>>722816269it has gotten1. vehicles which makes traveling across barren sloplands a bit less shitty2. a dlc which has some handcrafted content with less loading screens and somewhat more tolerable barren sloplands than the main gamebut in the end its still full of loading screens and barren sloplands and the perk system is shitty and anti-fun
