That's easy to resolve. Sony would drop the price of the PS5 Pro and/or discontinue it.

I mean, if we're going by historical standards, video game consoles, at least the successful ones, always hit an inflation adjusted price of around $500. Pricing the PS6 far outside of that would be historically unwise.

However, there's a unique historical anomaly we've experienced over the past 5 years: Covid. The lockdowns, supply chain shocks, and government bailouts all added about 25% of inflation to most products in a short span of time. Technically, a $500 PS5 today would only be worth around $375 in 2020 dollars. If we were to take $500 in 2020 dollars and add 25% inflation to it, it would be end up being $625 in 2025 dollars. Which is where I'm guessing the PS6 price will be around. Then there's the tariffs.

If the PS6 ends up being priced at $800, Sony is going to lose a lot of the market. It makes more sense for the PS6 to be much cheaper than that. PS5 Pro buyers are the same people who buy $200 Dualsense Edge controllers and $300 PS Headsets and $4000 OLED 70in TVs. They're not the same exact market as what a new, base console will be targeting.
