How would you have fixed it?
>>722833274Playable alien races.
>>722833274Only one solar systems, where every planet is small but handcrafted and are interconnected in some way.OR take it to the extreme opposite and just have the player do back to back randomized dungeons without making the player spend 1000 hours on loading screens and fiddly menus to go between them.
Mass Effect total mod conversion
>>722833274No loading screensSeemless planet entry and exitGood looking models instead of dei trashMore factions + more interactions brtween them + simulated economy. (think Starsector)
>>722835617This is it. If each of these problems were fixed or at least improved one step more than what they are now, the game could actually be quite good. I want to play it, but it just looks like shit in so many ways, then the loading screens kill it once you start playing.
>>722833274Remove all the DEI garbage, have actual interesting lore and setting, have alien enemies that are sentient humanoids with their own problems instead of just beasts, remove the fast travel ship jumps, scale the world down to consist of a single galaxy, remove randomly generated planets in favor of hand crafted ones, have the crafting system actually be worth your fucking time by making weapons and gear better than random drops, remove the entire “NASApunk” aesthetic and draw inspiration from mass effect, helldivers, and warhammer instead, add actual power armor, add a not-magic system, allow for the customization of the inside of the ship, scrap outpost building or have it be mechanically powerful with more interesting designs instead of the waste of time and resources it currently is, have companions that have more personality than dry wall and have different approval actions instead of having copy paste approval, have alien companions you can fuck, and drug mechanics with addiction side effects.>>722834615Also this.
remove all the ugly people and replace them with TES races and make CODA the game
>>722835617Starfield has some of the best looking models in a video game though.
>>722836116Only for you, Larry.
>>722835897There's literally zero DEI in the game, people just dont like white conservative's vision of space.
>>722836196well considering how media depicting "white conservative's vision of space" is most often very successful and culturally influential and Starfield isn't talked about anymore at all except very rarely just to make fun of it, I'd be willing to say whatever your people's visions of space is is objectively inferior
>>722833274There's no fixing this, so much is wrong you'd basically need to turn it into a completely different game.
>>722836196Saar, do the needful,
>>722836389Yeah.
>>722836367There is no DEI in Starfield its just simply not made well. Brown people have been in every bethesda game- Brown people being in space is not DEI. Bethesda have just been so shit at making games for so long that a black russian man is just simple incompetence in character design
>>722833274>Remove loading screens>Add companions who aren’t all “good guys”>Put beds in every building and give NPCs real daily routines>Make loot come from actual people and items instead of random tables>Let players find hand-crafted quests at POIs instead of endless radiant ones>Change the leveling system so it’s like Skyrim, instead of locking skills behind grindy challenges>Fix environmental resistances(gear resistance has been broken for two years now due to a typo)>Give each artifact temple a unique mini-game, not the same one repeated>Create a real sense of urgency that pushes you to actually want to do the main quest>Add proper tutorials and missions for outpost building>Make planetary takeoff/landing seamless and allow manual space travel instead of just warp jumps>Add non-combat interactions with NPCs, like RDR2’s lasso >Redesign Akila City design. It’s just boring right now>Make persuasion dialogues depend on each character’s personality, not random chance>Rewrite vague, meaningless quests so final choices actually change the worldAnd instead of addressing any of that, Redditards just want more random POIs and ship parts...
>>722833274Every NPC is killable. There are missable and timed quests, factions have unique and overlapping questlines, economies and wars are simulated so things happen in real time with or without your involvement. There's only white and east asian people in the future.Alien species.
>>722833274Shartfield is so fucked up on every level that there's no easy way to fix everything that's wrong with it. You have to redo the whole game, page one rewrite. There's just so much wrong.>There's no reason to explore planets because you literally cannot find anything but copypasted outposts>All plot NPCs are repulsive and you're forced to ally with them, can't kill any of them>Planets are populated exclusively with turd-colored gorillas, making the player not want to exist in such a disgusting world>Space is just a glorified loading screen, you can't find anything cool in space>AI is completely fucked and will often either ignore everything you do or everyone starts firing at you for no reasonIt's harder to think of a thing that Starfield did well. I guess the skill system is okay? Mostly?
>>722836862>Make planetary takeoff/landing seamless and allow manual space travel instead of just warp jumpsEveryone says they want this but you don't really want it unless they redesign everything else around it. >quest demands you go to other planet>15 minutes of flying through nothing later, get there>quest demands you return>repeatEven shoving the current optional encounters in as random encounters won't fix anything, it just makes the tedium broken up by annoyances.
>>722837127Are you living in a universe without No Man’s Sky? Nobody’s asking for real space travel. Just add accelerated space travel, that’s all.
>>722837037>I guess the skill system is okay? Mostly? Not at all.>basic features you will need locked behind skills unless you got them in character creation>at launch multiple skills did not work>multiple skills that "worked" had ranks that didn't work>+5% crit chance means base 5% crit times 1.05 for a whopping 5.25% total>not that you know it's supposed to be +5%>level up to get skill points to unlock skill challenges to be able to spend the points>and if you didn't unlock the next level of the skill nothing counts towards the challengeAnd then there's the "research"/crafting part where you unlock a skill to unlock a research to unlock a crafting recipe you'll never need, to craft to grind to unlock the next level.
>>722833274A single star system with every planet being the equivalent of an Oblivion county/Skyrim hold, mixed with ME1's uncharted worlds in terms of vibes and skyboxes. Handcrafted Skyrim dungeons. No reason to pretend the final game is trying to be "le realistically grounded" what with the literal magic powers so go all the way and make the setting feature aliens akin to Star Wars or Mass Effect. And for the love of Christ keep Emil away from the metaphorical typewriter.
Sexy alien sex
Release it for the PS5. Add nothing.
Not being made by Bethesda. I wonder when will people finally realize they never made a single genuinely good videogame.
>>722836896>Every NPC is killable.>There are missable and timed questsThey needed to do something with the multiverse thing. Either this or have actually interesting other universes to explore. Or at least do what fake leaks said it would do and make it part of an interesting plot instead of a boring one.
>>722833274Give some more freedom to the player. The Rpg mechanics are so bad in Bethesda games with it's essential npcs everywhere. Let the player fuck up already or kill whoever they want.
>>722833274Change the scale to solar system level, or even one planet with lots of moons and an asteroid belt for procgen areas.Change the plot to just being highlander in space, with the prize either being new game+ or a definitive ending.
>>722833274a lot less planets, but them being actual planets instead, walkable all around
>>7228332745 planets treated like mini skyrim maps with a few much smaller moons and space stationsLike 3x3 km each of handcrafted and unique content Don't bother with flying ships, ship building or ship to ship combat at allThe reason to go back to your ship will be as a hub between planets and you can have crew members/quest givers there to interact withMore horror elementsMore aliensLess fucking realism. The NASApunk thing is stupid beyond a cool retro aesthetic. Give me a mix of Star Wars and Cowboy Bebop.Basically a lovechild of Skyrim and Mass Effect.
>>722838123sounds like you want the outer worlds niBBa
I don't see why have all these responses when they all translate to "Not made by Bethesda".
>>722838230I would like the outerworlds if the writing wasn't so badIt's the borderlands problem
>>722838343they got that Bluesky writing going
>>722833274Nothing could save it except a 100% rewrite of the story and character dialogue. The way too safe HR speak that every character vomits out is fucking disgusting and totally unnatural. The rest of the game, obnoxious loading screens at all, could be tolerable with this fix.Really though who thought it was okay to recycle *the exact same* POIs on EVERY planet? Every single listening outpost is the same. Loot containers are in the same locations. The clutter is the same. Piles of credits are in the exact same spots. Its just the same thing over and over and over so there is no real purpose to exploration. Its such a braindead low effort game.
>>722833274Would have to overhaul everything.Worldbuilding and story suck, probably the most boring and soulless scifi setting i've ever seen.Drop the nasapunk and corporate cali-office aesthetic shit and make cooler tech that actually looks scifi.Make a world that has actual interesting shit, copy tropes from Star Wars, Star Trek, Battlestar, Lost In Space, literally anything else that doesn't suck. Have evil space empires, warring factions, underdeveloped civilizations and hyper-advanced civilizations, obviously aliens (what the fuck kind of space scifi series doesn't have aliens).Slice out a portion of the world or a planet that is actually handcrafted and unique, doesn't have be massive but needs to actually have non-proc-gen copypaste slop, then focus all of the non-radiant quests and story missions there.Main story needs to totally change to something actually interesting, either about saving the world, or a planet, something beyond just wandering and putzing around with lame starborn powers.Make the guns less ugly/boring and add melee.Make the companions actually interesting and have different personalities.Have evil options in the game and make pirates actually intimidating instead of faggots.Make NPCs in general less ugly and brown.Have flying on planets.Killable NPCs, lootable clothing, more clothing options in general.Choices and skills/checks would be a big improvement too but that's the least of their problems.Overhaul the base building to give it a purpose, or at least make it as good as fallout 4 (which is still mid).Remove the woke shit.
>>722833274Change the engine.Change the design philosophy.Basically the only thing that's salvageable is the overal genre selection. That's it. Even the world building is bad.
>>722838256>Skyrim was not made by Bethesda
>>722838556>500 developers, 5 years of time>82 dungeon types in total>planet surfaces are all randomly generatedwhat did they spend all that time on?seriously Skyrim and Fallout 4 had more handcrafted dungeons and a big open world
>>722838123>Don't bother with flying ships, ship building or ship to ship combat at all>The reason to go back to your ship will be as a hub between planets and you can have crew members/quest givers there to interact withI think making ships scale down so much was a mistake. Huge ships that belong to factions, where combat is a terrifying event instead of an arcade game would be a lot more impactful.
>>722838761They just had an army of pajeets and it took the managers that long to make them do actual work
>>722833274>How would you have fixed it?I wouldn't have done anything. I would have listened, which is what no one else did.
>>722833274Gore and, either, a marker that tells you which planets are worth exploring or you are guaranteed to find something interesting on every single planet you land on. A special event, a dungeon, space bandits, mercs, aliens. I don't care but the content density of Starfield needs to hit Skyrim levels.>be in base>sort out gear and grab what you need>open map and pick location or quest>head out>2 minutes later something to fight>2 minutes later something to explore>2 minutes later something to interact with>2 hours later>completed 2 quests>explored 1 dungeon>looted 2 new pieces of gear>encountered a new companion>now you are at your target location to do what you actually wanted to do>do the thing>you've played the game for 4 hours and return to your base>do some maintenance, eat, sleep, head out againSteps 5 to 11 Bethesda just kinda forgot to implement. You still open your map but the whole emergent gameplay thing is just not there. You simply fast travel directly to where you want to go and do what you wanted to do. There is nothing to explore and there is nothing to find. Empty abandoned outposts and camps. And the game has a fucking amazing framework of systems and mechanics. The whole ship building is top notch but it lacks depth, same with the outpost building. There is simply no reason to do it because it's all cosmetic. It doesn't open anything new. Todd he said he didn't want to force the player to do something that wasn't fun. But he ended with a game that doesn't force the player to do anything at all. So unless the player finds the act of doing something in and of itself fun there is no reason to do it.For example outpost building. If that would unlock new quest lines or special gear or abilities players would actually build them. Or if they served as checkpoints to restock and refuel on longer trips or to off load/sell valuable cargo. Just an answer to the question "what does it do?" would be good.
>>722836367The most famous sci fi franchise ever is also extremely progressive, being focused on strength in diversity and finding ways for different cultures to get along without wiping out those cultures in the process.
>>722837127There are plenty of games that do space flight fine, NMS, Empyrion, Outer Wilds, Kerbal, it does not need to be to realistic scale, this is not some impossible concept. If all their quests are just fetch quests to run back and forth between planets to deliver garbage with nothing in between than that is an issue with their quest writing.
>>722839338>There are plenty of games that do space flight fine, [list of games designed around space flight as their core mechanic]Good job, you figured out what "unless they redesign everything else around it" means!
>>722839316nooo that classic star trek episode where they take down nazis in space wasn't progressive it was made woke after
>alien racesUnironically cringe The only redeemable part about skyrimfield was the lack of alien races. It would've been better off without the starborn and if they really wanted them to be in the game they should've been hinted at through dialogue in side quests or records in some terminal in a backwater planet and not something that your character becomes at the end of the game. The temples and unity seems like a last minute 2deep4me addition to make it seem a lot more philosophical than it actually is.
>>722840345Back then there were more political ideologies options than just nazi incel and homosexual brown communist.
>>722833274More diversity and thoughtful politics
Fundamentally the cowboy western planet was completely gay and stupid
>>722840704>skyrimfieldIt wishes
>>722841010to be shit? it already is
>>722833274Ditch the large galaxy and hand craft a much better smaller selection of planets. Take risks with the story telling. Give better motivations to be good or evil or somewhere in between. Flesh out motivations of factions.Remove space sections altogether, the ship simply moves from planet a to b with its main focus being a mobile custom home for the player.

>>722833274>How would you have fixed it?Honestly, there's no fixing what has a broken base, at the point I'd consider the game to be fixed it would be a completely different game altogether. For starters, the principal thing this game needs to fix is the boring combat and weapons usage, if you ever played the game you'd basically see how this game is basically just shooting at most of the times, stationary mobs, or just walk around evading and shooting, there's no high octane gameplay, it might as well be swords and be called skyrim, literally.Secondly, they'd need to craft an actually interesting story, as for now, whatever they have would need to be scrapped, since as far as I played, I had zero interest in any of what they were telling me.And finally, remove the stupid spaceship traversal, it's literally the objectively worst part of the game and I don't even know if it could be fixed without basically making it a completely different game like the EA star wars games, and even then I don't think those are great.
how do u fix a space game where u literally meet spacemen faggots in the game?u simply uninstall it, refund it, then never buy anything the devs make again. it worked for me.
>>722841007it literally had actual gay space men u met on it. not even joking. imagine buying a game where u literally meet faggots IN THE FUCKING GAME.
>>722833274By not letting Emil Pagliarulo (or anybody who wrote anything for the gaming industry in the last 10 years) near the story.
>>722833274Procgen was a fundamental mistake. If there's one thing bethesda games have going for them it's the worlds and exploration. Stafield just lacks enough handcrafted content and the planets are all pointless because they lack meaningful content. Even when you are doing quests and shit the game is effectively fast-travel only because of it's nature so there's never the moment of walking somewhere for the first time and running into something along the way.Shitload of perks and shit are pointless. Why do ships have a fuel capacity or why would you want to scan nearby systems if you can just make one more jump and it costs you nothing, why is He3 everywhere if you don't use it for anything. Why would I invest points into setting on an extreme plant when I get get my shit elsewhere. Like pretty sure it was supposed to be more of a survival crafter game where you build outposts to resupply along the way at one point but they ripped that out leaving the game weird.
>>722833274ok todd here's what you need to do:real time space travel (I know you're implementing it,good job)procgen dungeonsset dressing to make your capitals seem like actual capitals of spacefaring nationssettlements in space, "truck stops with a view"procgen settlements on planets with every amenity, that spawn quests (unique and procedural) in the same landing zonesim settlements:space overhauling base building, i want to build a colony toddboom 95% of problems gone
>>722833274I cannot. The very roots of the game are critically flawed. The only way to redeem it is to raze the whole mess down to its foundations and build something new upon the ashes.
>>722833274>How would you have fixed it?Bring the TES lore into space. It's 60000 years after Skyrim and all the races of Tamriel are in space. Each race has their own planet, and there's a smattering of diversity on each planet's capital city. You can settle down with a knife eared wife and an Aragonia slave in your custom built space station, and take them along on adventures. Your companions have permadeath. The various traits of each race makes exploring particular environments easier/harder. There's a new race of aliens which are hostile to everyone and they are the capstone dungeons. Instead of NASApunk (lol) the main theme is a strife between high-tech and magic elements, with the new alien race being purely high-tech oriented and always having gear and crafting mats several tiers higher than the other races. Actual sex system that secretly records each occurance and uploads it to Microsoft's servers for AI porn refinement.
>>722833274The game should have been on one planet. It should have been about humanity settling a new home world after developing FTL travel. All the random cities on the barren planets in the game now would have at least been fun to walk between if on one large planet.
>>722837037>I guess the skill system is okay? Mostly? In itself it isn't offensively bad, but that's only because its so vestigial that it may as well not exist.
>>722847083>The game should have been on one planet.Maybe not one planet but at least one system. It's too big and empty for what it is and I know that's literally what space is, but it's also a video game and not real life. Should've either done it in the solar system or Alpha Centauri or wherever the new colony worlds are.
>>722847606>Should've either done it in the solar system or Alpha Centauri or wherever the new colony worlds are.I know just the game for you and it's only fraction of the space that your average 4k tiddie mod takes up. Beta Decay if it ever actually comes out within the next two months or so. They've got guns, mechs, corponigs, cybernetics, incel terrorists, ship building and anomalies. I'm personally looking forward to see whether you can actually operate out of your own flagship like you just crawled out of Cowboy Bebop.
>>722833274I would have not used gamebryo>its the creation engine nowIts gamebryo.
>>722833274publicly execute todd and then remake everything from scratch
>>722836196People don't like Dune?
>>722833274I'd have to replace more than I'd keep. Might as well develop a new game instead.
>>722833274used a better engine, wrote an actual story
>>722833274Don't make it full of shitskins and gay.
>>722837296>NMSso instead of 15 minutes of flying through nothing it's one minute of flying through nothing
