I had less issue with the platforming than most. For me it was:- Eternal's enemy designs are almost all less cool/scary and the gore system turning enemies into half-skeletons while still alive looks stupid. (That they were trying to be more like og doom monsters isn't that relevant. They just didn't do a very good job.)- 2016's writing was lean and perfect, with just the right amount of story. Eternal defaulted back to generic videogame writing filled with fantasy world building exposition I wouldn't give a shit about even if it was creative (it's not).- The environments overall were just less atmospheric and less of a fit for the soundtrack and gameplay vibe.tl;dr2016: lean, brutal and atmospheric. Eternal: goofy and bloated.
