the only game I can recall calling them taunts was tf2, where they were kill cam taunts. in mmos they have always been emotes, since the MUD days.

Everyone is far too ready for an excuse to get mad at anything.
I can't even rapidly crouch in any online game for fun anymore without someone thinking I am "teabagging" them. Everyone collectively forgot why it is called teabagging.
