>still the best in the series
How did they do it?

Not at all. Yellow is superior.

Maybe if you mean fr/lg.

I played most of the pokemon games since yellow, blue, stadium 1 to current ones, all of them were great at their times because you spend time with your bros playing countless hours every generation. I couldn't care less about retard zoomer rating them for the single player campaign.

It always seemed to that Yellow was surprisingly unpopular in the years after, despite selling quite well. Everyone just goes for Red/Blue for nostalgia and almost seem to pretend Yellow doesn't exist.
>>
>>722997225
It came out when you were a kid.
>>
>>722997967
Why does this chart separate the "the third version" out from "the first two versions of a generation?" Looks to me like Red and Blue sold 15m each and Yellow sold 14m, while future gens had a far more precipitous drop off after the initial release. Gold/Silver went from 12m each to Crystal's 6m!
>>
>>722997225
I tried to play it recently and stopped a few cities in because I was very, very bored.
>>
>>722997225
They didn't the remakes blow them out of the water. I'm tired of these jeetspam threads.
>>
as a boomer who played these games at release, gen2 was an all-around upgrade over gen1. my personal favorite is probably d/p and b/w though.
>>
>>722997225
You could only play as a boy.
As soon as they let you pick to play as a girl the series went downwards.

>being a cute girl is woke

I just fundamentally hate gen 2 onwards because of how many games you need to actually complete the Pokedex.

Gen 1, all you needed was a single friend with the opposite version. Gen 2 needed 4 games, gen 3 needed 4 games but you needed 2 GBAs AND a Gamecube, then by gen 4 you needed fucking 8 games because of the asinine way to add some Hoenn Pokemon to encounter pools with the GBA slot gimmick. The series just got greedier and greedier as its popularity waned, taking advantage of their diehard fans that will spend any amount of money on their arbitrary predatory business model. It's nothing but exploitation.

For years I wondered why anyone would play the originals when the remakes were such straight upgrades. I'm not sure if it's the same sentiment others have, but now I think the original graphics give the Pokemon world a mysterious charm that can't be replicated.

never mind, must have deleted the image or something. the one with the starter pokemons. have a crossover instead.

>>722998759
it just meant that they no longer assumed the player would be male, so it was no longer focused on making a game that boys would like.
>>
>>722997225
gen 2 and gen 3 were better. Firered/leafgreen and then those nds gen 2 shits. Damn pokemons were good looking back

I haven't played Pokemon GO since 2016 and I'm glad I haven't returned.
>>
>>722998884
i sort of agree but on the other hand there is no way you can fit 900 or whatever pokemon naturally within a single game in a way that doesn't feel weird. i'm more upset about endgame content being dumbed down in every game. the first battle frontier was literally the best one and that was in like 2002 or whatever. shit sucks.

i have long wondered if actual trans people want representation that actually looks like them irl. like their whole thing is that they don't want the body that they have as far as i know.

never underestimate the spitefulness of a mutant
they want nothing more than to bring the world into their own ugliness
>>
>>723000009
It makes the most sense that they'd want to play as a woman with idealized proportions. I can't imagine why you'd want to play a game just to be reminded what you look like in real life.
>>
>>722997225
The limitations of the tech at the time is what made the games memorable.

>150 Pokemon
>Top down view
>Sprites
>Needing HMs to traverse the world

Ironically all the QoL updates to the series killed the soul and now nothing feels special.
>>
>>722997304
Too many unavailable pokemon.
>>
>>722999786
It was a great time in 2016 but I'm surprised to see how active it is now still. I still see groups of players and they have their official yearly festivals which create traffic jams.
>>
>>722998962
I'm not so sure it's the graphics, but rather the overall presentation. I get the sense that the staff behind FRLG didn't really understand that Kanto was supposed to be an urban center and its outskirts. So unlike pic related, which is surrounded by houses and empty space to give the illusion that you're in a section of a bigger city, FRLG just surrounds Saffron with these generic trees. It's the same with all the towns, like Pewter being surrounded by mountains. The Gen 1 games were very good about using their limited resources to sketch out some diverse environments.

It's kind of a shame too, because FRLG are overall a lot of fun, and the Sevii Islands were a very unique addition. But the aesthetic of the earlier generations just can't be beat.

i've heard that it is not very active, instead of meeting people there's 1 guy with 4 phones soloing the gym.
maybe you're in one of the few places where strangers still meet up for events.

>>
>>723000742
i'm sad that my phone wasn't good enough to run the game when it came out it sounded pretty fun
>>
>>723001672
For me I couldn't play as pretty much no pokemon spawned in the countryside back then, where I live. I was pretty bummed about it as just walking around the woods and fields with my bros catching pokemon would have been fun.
>>
>>723001620
In this context it's appropriate. It means plenty played Pokemon Yellow, but for some reason it isn't that popular not usually included with Red/Blue nostalgia bait.
>>
mogged by platinum and gold
>>
>>723001954
i regularly see people group it together with red and blue, i.e. calling gen 1 r/b/y or something similar
>>
>>722999105
how did it work, does it ask the weight of the player?
>>
>>723001672
It was weird yet magical time. It was summer and people were out in the middle of the night playing and approaching others at hotspots, because you just knew they were playing. It was an instant connection and probably the easiest time to make friends.

One of them even walked into that lamp post out of distraction but I didn't catch that.

I was most disappointed I didn't get a streetpass at all from NYC. I was hopeful when I saw this group but nope.
