I'm a diehard invasion fag and i never managed to enjoy DS2 invasions. Setting up the characters is a pain in the ass, the fact you can't even open a lot of doors greatly limits what you can do in a host's world and having no healing options but miracles and warmth sucks cock.

The fact that you couldn't get invasions as well is something you should verify again, because if you have anything other installed, or did something that could alter your save like spawn an item/modify char stats, then you may have gone into a cheater realm. You can actually verify with bandai namco support, and you get a one chance out. Blue Acolyte doesn't do this to you though. Check the zones that are highlighted red for you at the bonfire
