Is there a version of the original Resident Evil(s) that have good controls and not the shitty controls?
Also, which Resident Evil is the best one? 6 is underrated.
>Resident Evil thread
>>
>>723048567
HD REmake on PC has modern controls, REmake 2, and REmake4(can be heavily modded with more action/movement options). Other than that 4, and 5 are your go to, use the restoration project for 4.
>>
Tank controls work best with fixed cameras. I tried the modern ones and it felt janky af when the camera switched.

I want to play the original versions as much as possible. Like, I don’t want to play a fucking remake of Resident Evil 4. Can i get the original version of RE4 on PlayStation/Steam? Which remakes should I avoid?
However the remakes I do want are the ones with updated controls. Need that.
What is the definitive RE collection? I don’t even know how many games there are.
>RE1 (remake)
>RE2 (remake)
>RE3 (remake?)
>RE4 (original)
>RE5 (original)
>RE6 (original)
>RE7+ ??
How many resident evils even are there? I want to play them all starting now.
>>
>>723048939
play REmake HD PC
play REmake2/RE2
play RE3 fuck REmake3
play RE4 restoration project, or REmake4
play RE5
play RE6 or don't
play RE7+8
cool you're caught up.

motion control rail shooters not fun if you don't have a light gun. everything needed to understand the story was listed, and is all mainline. if you really want you can play code veronica. it's okay. it's about ending a tranny that is LARPing as Albert Wesker.

like 3 of them
RE4, RE1, RE5.

Just play in release order, don't listen to these remake faggots.

RE1 (PS1) -> RE2(original) -> RE3 -> CV -> RE1 remake(optional) -> RE Zero -> RE4 ->RE5 -> Revelations -> RE6 -> Revelations 2 -> RE7 -> RE2 Remake -> RE3 Remake(optional) ->Village -> RE4 Remake

There, you're set.

>RE1 remake (controls)

>RE3 original
>Code Veronica (is there only 1 version of this?)
>RE Zero original?
>RE4 original
>RE5 original
>RE6 original
>RE Revelations 2 original
>RE7 original
>Village (wtf is this?)
is that my perfect chronological list? RE3 has normal, modern controls right?
>>
>>723049450
revelations series is OKAY, everything else that's a side-game is at best OKAY. the peak is RE4 restoration project, and REmake HD on PC.
>>
>>723049196
Minor part in 0
Main antagonist in 1
Secondary antagonist in Code Veronica
Minor part in 4/Separate Ways
Main antagonist in 5
"Sister" is out for revenge for his death in Revelations 2
You also play as him in Umbrella Chronicles.

I have Resident Evil 5 on PS4, but there’s a “Gold Edition” of RE5 on PS3. What does that mean?
Also I’m looking at this menu on playstation and there’s like 5 versions of the first game.
Should I get the one called “Resident Evil Director’s Cut 2024 (PS5)” ?

Alright, this how I rank the RE games.
The ABSOLUTE core essentials:
>RE1 (remake)
>RE2 (PS1)
>RE3 (PS1)
These first 3 are available on gog, while REmake is on steam, you have to absolutely play the first three trilogy.
REmake completely mogs the shit out of the original, just saying.
>RE: Veronica
The most interesting in terms of story, which is it's biggest strength, I liked it, much closer to the RE formula than whatever came after it.
>RE4
Damn good, great gameplay but the survival horror takes a back seat, still worth a playthrough.
>RE4R
Its good, doesn't build on what is already established, but I do recommend it.
>RE5
Good fun, nothing special tho, a little let down from RE4 especially the inventory management.
>RE: Revelations 1/2
I hate to call them serviceable games because I don't think they are, the second game ties between RE5/6, still recommend them.
>RE6
This one is painful, you can tell that Capcom went all out with RE6, the presentation alone is crazy, but man was I glad it was over when I beat the game, a complete mess of a game.
There is a good game in there, it's just buried under a ton of shit for you to find it.
>RE7
Back to form, really liked it, End of Zoe DLC is nuts.
>RE2R
People all around me went crazy for it but I just couldn't like it even tho I really tried to.
>RE3R
Just skip it, and pretend it doesn't exist.
>RE0
The least imaginative RE game, it's just nothing, skip it.
>RE8
A fucking slog of a game, I would say that RE8 is hands down the worst RE game to date due to the fact that it ret-cons the story, skip it.

>>723051057
Which versions do I get on PlayStation? I have a PC but I already have 5&6 on my PlayStation account so I’d rather have them on there.
>>
>>723051057
>RE8
>A fucking slog of a game, I would say that RE8 is hands down the worst RE game to date due to the fact that it ret-cons the story, skip it.
Wait, the most recent one? So what are you saying, Resident Evil is ruined and over because of retcons?
>>
>>723051310
I don't think you can go wrong regardless of any of the versions you want to play.
Whatever suits you the most, if I must tho, I think I would go with emulation.
>>
>>723051057
>>RE6
>This one is painful, you can tell that Capcom went all out with RE6, the presentation alone is crazy, but man was I glad it was over when I beat the game, a complete mess of a game.
>There is a good game in there, it's just buried under a ton of shit for you to find it.
I'm glad I played this with a friend is the only way I stomached RE6. The last boss is completely nuts.
>>
>>723051560
So they don’t add posters of trannies or joggers or LBG flags and shit in the background of the remakes?
>>
>>723048567
For many, including me, Resident Evil(GC remake) is the best. Resident Evil 6 is mostly underrated, its a fun time if you play it on split screen with a friend. It also has a very fun Mercenaries mode. Resident Evil 7 had potential to be truly great, but Ethan sucks, The Barkers sucked too, and it very much needed more enemy variety. Village is the one that I have a hard time with. Sometimes I hate it and sometimes I can get myself to like it just a little bit.
>>
>>723051536
>Resident Evil is ruined and over because of retcons?
Not nessecarrly the only reason, but one of the main reasons why RE8 is shitty.
Other issues I had with the game:
>first hour of the game is slow as shit
>outside of Lady D's mansion, nothing noteworthy
>tried way too hard to be like a 'RE4', didn't have it's own identity
>Ethan Winters isn't an interesting character, flat out plain
>story overall is a joke
>poor pacing
>shitty boss fights
>>723051759
>So they don’t add posters of trannies or joggers or LBG flags and shit in the background of the remakes?
No, RE games are the least pozzed, in fact there is none that I can think of.
Every character in the whole series is actually balanced, they all have their own strength and weakness.
>>
>>723051057
RE6 was when the soul of the franchise left it. With the shitty remakes that only appeal to zoomies. I remember when I read they didn't even do the route shit in the RE2remake that I was never touching anything new in this franchise again. RE3remake being the confirmation.
>>
>>723051992
Bro I was the same way, the RE franchise is my second favorite and when RE6 happened I pretty much gave up on the series.
I don't know if you haven't yet buy I highly recommend RE7.
It's been a while since I played RE7 but I really enjoyed it, only problem I had with the game was that it was just too predictable.
Overall tho I liked it.
>>
>>723052236
I was reluctant to play it, is it actually good?
>>
Spoonfeed me one last time, which of these fucking games have tank controls so I can get the remake?
Like there’s Resident Evil Director’s Cut (2 gigs) for PS5 and there’s just “Resident Evil” (15 gigs) for PS4 which one is the remaster? Am I a retard or? This is so annoying.
>>
>>723051985
Resident Evil 8 is a dumb game. There are too many times when the game yanks control from you. The doll house section is 1 hour of pressing A on things, you can't die, you can't shoot, there are no enemies. Oh wait, there is the scripted caterpillar baby, but that's it. Ethan is still lame. Coming up with Mother Miranda to have a woman be the brains behind everything in the RE universe was ham fisted feminist writing. The way you have to get 4 bosses and take 4 things from them in 4 different locations is a rip off from Dark Souls, but I want to play Resident Evil, not DS. The last segment as Chirs is total dog crap...
>>
>>723052308
It's truly return to from, it's completely different, but unique in it's own way.
If you are somewhat on the fence, Christmas is just around the corner so I would wait for a sale.
>>723052382
Could not have said it better myself, I really, REALLY hate RE8 with a passion.
>>
>>723048567
Best RE games are the primary Wesker arc trilogy. REmake1, CVX, and 5.
2 and 2make are also good. So is 4 and 4make. With 4make, if they kept the MGS codec calls, it would be just objectively better hands down.
Zero and OG 3 are good, but have some minor problems.
6 is underrated, but the campaigns range wildly. From best to worst it: Jake>Chris>Leon> > > > > Ada
3make is a fucking disaster. 7 isn’t a RE game. 8 is also pretty bad but the Factory level is so stupidly hilarious that its great.
The Chronicles games are actually great for filling in gaps in the story events, but the gameplay is fucking awful.
Revelations games are good, but Rev1 is definitely better than 2. Raid is way better in 2 though.
ORC is meh.
Gaiden is okish.
Survivor is fucking horrible.
Dead Aim is meh.
Outbreak games are ok.
>>
Does the original RE3 have tank controls?
>>
>>723052846
Yes, but it has quick turn.
>>
>>723052336
The first 3 games have tank controls, REmake as well.
RE4 also has it to an extend, at least it feels like it does.
>>
>>723052846
The biggest issue I had with RE3 was I never could get the hang of the dodge stuff to avoid attacks. So Nemesis would always just toss me around or kill me.
>>
>>723052336
The Directors Cut is the PS1 version.
Then Resident Evil is the remake that initially came out for the GameCube.
Get the 15 gig one, just remember that it has tank controls.
>>
>>723052660
The Miranda thing was the worst offender for me. Ethan is finally dead(thank goodness). The game is one big turd, but at least I don't have to play it again. But finding that shoehorned note at the end making Spencer Miranda's bitch I was upset. And unfortunately, that's here to stay. Its especially upsetting because Miranda and her game are unadulterated dog shit. And I am certain we will hear about this bitch again.
>>
>>723052978
RE4 has tank controls but for a different reason than why classic RE has them. It was made for the GameCube, and that console's gamepad was designed by an idiot, and the two analog sticks are not compatible with twin-stick inputs. So, they made single-stick movement with a modifier trigger that changes it to single-stick aim. RE5 was then made for the X360 gamepad and no longer needed tank controls.

>7 isn’t a RE game
Ill never unsterstand statements like this when its the closest the series has gotten to the original 3 + cv in over a decade
At this point what even is an RE game? Are they fixed camera puzzle survival horror? TPS action horror? First person survival horror? REmake bullshit? Lightgun games?

>>

Its been a while since I played 5 bit iirc every game up to 4 has tank controls

Also youre a fag and should just get over your fear of a perfectly fine method of control
>>
when the fuck are we getting code Veronica remake
>>
>>723053264
A game starring the characters I have been following for two decades. Your argument is like saying Fez is Super Mario Brothers 4. “its got the platforming and the jumps! Its totally super mario brothers!” Re7 has fucking nothing to do with RE to the point that they had to clumsily sprinkle in pointless references after the fact to try and justify the branding.
>>
>>723053430
I agree with this. It went first person, Resident Evil has to be in third person with fixed camera angles. If you are going to do first person and characters that have nothing to do with the franchise, why not just do a new IP? Especially since all the new characters are crap. The Bakers were stupid AF too, but I guess they are more gritty and "realistic" so therefore "better".
>>
>>723053318

I want to use the fucking joysticks to move around like a real game not hurt my thumbs holding the Up botton down and hitting the other buttons with the sides of my thumb fuck this and fuck contrarian tank retards. I want to use the joysticks for fuck’s sake but there’s nowhere on any corner of the internet that I can get a definite answer. WHY? I just tried looking at reddit and those mindless troons didn’t have an answer either.
Resident Evol Direcots Cut: Tank controls or no?
Reaident Evol GameCube: tank controls or no?
At least for the first game can we please square away which is the good one you can use joysticks to play so I can just get it and start playing and I’ll worry about the other sequels like 2 later? Guess I’ll have to make 1 thread for each game to figure out which version is best because no one knows.

>>723053358
4&5 are third person shooters like Gears of War or Dead Space or anything like that. Not fucking tank controls with a d-pad turning your character around like a clock to shoot.
>>
>>723048567
man up and play the original, non-dualshock 1996 version of RE1 for optimal survival horror
>>
>>723053430
If Fez was called Super Mario Bros. 4 then yeah itd be a Super Mario game. It isnt though its explicitly an independent ip. Re7 isnt independent, its obviously a Resident Evil game. It even features Umbrella (although its good Umbrella or whatever) and Chris. Yknow, one of those characters youve been following since the series started with Re1?
>>
>>723053642
I did, and Dino Crisis as well. Couldn’t finish them, too shitty.
>>
>>723053554
>Not fucking tank controls with a d-pad turning your character around like a clock to shoot.
Again I cant remember about 5 but 4 absolutely does have tank controls. Tank controls dont mean controlled with a dpad or fixed camera. Have you ever actually played a game with tank controls or are you just a sped?
>>
>>723053770
>4 absolutely does have tank controls
Fine maybe I’m not hip to the nomenclature but 4 plays like Dead Space and you walk around and aim with the joystick and hit L to aim down the gunsight.
RE1 you have to hold up on the dpad to make your character move forward in the direction the character’s model in the game is facing then use the left and right button to turn your character clockwise or counterclockwise to orient them in the direction you want.
So I guess dead space and gears of war and Helldivers 2 all have tank controls too? When we say tank controls in this thread im talking the shitty d-pad clock movement crap, not third person shooters.
>>
So which version of RE1 should I buy? GameCube or Director’s Cut? I want to use a joystick to play.

Does that mean Director’s Cut has joystick controls?
Is the GameCube one just a port?
>>
>>723053951
>4 plays like Dead Space
And in Dead Space you can strafe with left and right on the control stick, big difference.
>RE1 you have to hold up on the dpad to make your character move forward in the direction the character’s model in the game is facing then use the left and right button to turn your character clockwise or counterclockwise to orient them in the direction you want.
Yeah just like re4 except its over the shoulder instead of fixed camera.
Also again tank controls are not exclusive to the dpad. You can play every classic re game using a control stick so stop having a bitch fit and go play them.
>So I guess dead space and gears of war and Helldivers 2 all have tank controls too?
If youre retarded you can make that conclusion. They dont though, but re4 does.
>When we say tank controls in this thread im talking the shitty d-pad clock movement crap, not third person shooters.
Correction, when YOU say, because I dont think anyone else in this thread is having a hard time understanding what tank controls are.
>>
>>723053048
According to this post, what I can glean from it is the PS1 2-gig version does NOT have tank controls and you use joysticks. That one is $10 and the other is $20. I better be getting the fucking right version. No idea why this was such a complicated string of replies to such a simply fucking question but this is the closest answer I’m gonna get I guess?
