Not sure if this is a hot take or not, but
David Cage is the Neil Breen of videogames

as dreadful as the games are AS GAMES, if you just commit to enjoying the audiovisual slop you're being served as the "so bad it's good" that it truly is they're absolutely hilarious and amazing

I am actually unironically kind of sad he hasn't put out another game yet

He would be a great director if someone competent wrote the script for him. It's always midwit shit that fell short because of amateurish intention to include everything that he thinks is cool

Indigo Prophecy is definitely Neil Breen tier for sure, the rest are debatable

detroit is great as a game and unlike neil breen cage is actually a pretty good director, the atmosphere in his games is amazing so he does have a vision, it's just his writing that sucks ass, at least when he's not writing detective/buddy cop stuff

>it's just his writing that sucks ass
erm but he's a freaking genius tho???

Fahrenheit was comfy and had an enjoyable story up until the end, I'm really annoyed it's now considered a bad game by zoomer crowd

it was derivative slop at best when it came out, you must have bizarre rose tinted glasses from plating it when you were 13

Dayvid Cayge is a competent director wether as a film director or as a video game director. He's also competent as a designer and knows what's what in game designing although his design is an acquired taste. He's also a decent game storyteller, he's not a good writer by a long shot but at least he understands how to incorporate a script into a videogame.
Tldr; Dayvid Cayge is so unashamedly cringe that he loops back into being unfathomably based.

I don't know what's supposed to be so comically bad about Detroit that people are still shitposting about him. It's just a good interactive movie, get over it

What did they do to her that she turned on her own body? She was a cutie. Do you think she can ever play The Last of Us again without wanting to commit suicide?

I don't know. His choice to do a non-linear arrangement in the worst possible way for Beyond Two Souls tells me otherwise. Like I get it was to hide some big plot twist but it didn't really enhance the game.
>>
>>723057218
You mean he makes deliberately bad games for the attention?

I think the most interesting thing David Cage has contributed is this idea of a lack of game overs. There's the bullshit meme quote of
>Game overs are a failure of the game design
But playing something that doesn't "end" when you fuck up is interesting to me.

Like for an example, Fahrenheit/Indigo Prophecy making it so that you could end up leaving behind clues of a murder you failed to clean up and then seeing the consequences of that is a neato mechanic. Become Human having permadeath on its characters but being able to continue to the end is another solid implementation. When the games railroads you through the story without real consequences until the near end, then it's fucking lame (Heavy Rain). And usually the consequence is just that a character died so you don't use them anymore. Anything more is too ambitious.

it's just a overly complex DVD scenes selection menu
