Well, nothing stopped me. And I ain't playing a 3D platformer with a keyboard. Setting up all the buttons is a bit of a hassle, but all in all, it's a good method.

Better movement control. On keyboard you only get 8 directions and can only run, even with mouse rotation it's very limited which is a bad thing when it comes to 3D platforming. On a controller you have better control with your speed and can move in more directions. That and buttons in ergonomical locations

The reason you usually can't use both a mouse and a controller is because most games freak out when you try to use both at the same time. SRB2 must be one of the rare games that can handle both.

What advantage to camera control do you get with a mouse over right analog? Doing sudden quick snapping or something?

Also what characters do you usually play with that setup or do you just play everyone like that in general

Yeah, pretty much it's just noticeably better.

It's great for faster characters since it gives you the needed control. It's my default, so whether it's Knuckles, Cacee, or 64 Mario, I use it.

Okay yeah I was thinking about in relation to faster characters like with Knuckles or Sonic if you wanted to quickly change direction but not lose too much speed
Maybe I'll try that control scheme out, what binds did you use for the controller movement since you're using one hand?

Jump is the shoulder button because Ape Escape made it feel right. And spin is left click. You can feel out where the three customs go yourself.

I typically run kb+m but if I do use a controller jump is on R1 and spin is on L1. Honestly tho playing Adventure 1 and 2 after Robo Blast just makes me wish those games had the same kb+m controls and camera

Because SRB2 was designed with mouselook in mind and up until recently it's default controls had characters locked into looking straight ahead of the camera and having actions that depend on the where the camera was facing like it's a third person shooter.

SRB2 was designed for mouse and keyboard. Do yourself a favor and go to the camera settings and turn Manual mode on. It gives you much more precision than Automatic mode which was designed for controllerbabs.
