In short, you're placed in a huge map with other players. You need to fill up a currency bar or you're not allowed to leave, but there's a minimum threshold. To leave, you have to find an escape pod, but only one player can use it. And you have a 15 minute time limit on top of that.

So basically it's a completely different game from let it die. I played for one hour, and honestly, I don't feel like playing it again

it is, but you should still play it, paying is for convenience mostly, and since it has no online pvp of any sort it doesn't really matter that people can pay for strength, it only helps their solo game.
It is grindy but that's the game, and as anons have said, it was toned down, and you only need to reach floor 40 to experience the whole thing, but it's oozing with style and is peak 2000s-core, so if you're into that you'll fall in love

so far this feels like the worst game they have made. all the maps are just anonymous corridors, the combat feels garbage compared to deathverse, and they also cucked everything else about it like the movement and how the stamina works. Literally killing random Cryptids in Deathverse felt more tactical than this game.

Deathverse was unironically a really good pvp game, with probably the best melee pvp Combat but they killed it by forcing a mandatory 2 minute cut scene of players showing off their skins and emotes before every match.

The game in a game gimmick, the train subway was way cooler than this sky shit, the tower of barbs was cooler, hell gate could have been cool but the devs just haven't got the ability to realise the vision, the sky platform looks down on a boring ass empty environment, and the view from inside the Hellgate isn't that interesting either, they could have really made it look like that one piece of art, plus the story seems really weh, raiders association? Fucking lame.
Will there even be lore drops and cutscenes? Bosses? Is there a place to descend to? It sounds like we'll never actually be able to beat this one, giving the lack of polish and detail I wouldn't put it past them not to have.
The first game oozed style and intrigue, this one is shallow.
Uncle death is here as a formality, not because the devs have soul, as indicated by his voice actor change, they didn't get how important it was to his appeal.
Also I already miss the basic underwear they started you in the first game, I miss picking a body from the train, it was all so cool.

I played the OG when it came out new on ps4 and loved it. Finished the original 40 floors, grinded a bit more and stopped because updates were slow and there was a big game coming out that finished off the /vg/ general. I forgot what game it was. The current players seem to be treating it that way. The only PvP that seems to happen is when someone ganks another person fighting a mob or looting. Floors 42+ are quick and dirty "what if we made EVERY enemy the hardest enemy type", and also as they were releasing these floors they added more and more pay to win decals

Depends. The post story floors work completely differently. Every enemy is replaced with "haters" which are mostly dead player characters.

The thing is, when someone dies, it's usually because most their weapons and armor are broken. So most of these guys are free kills and are even easier than the regular enemies in the lower floors.

But you might notice the use of "most" up there. The devs realized this flaw, and made it so at least 1 or 2 of these guys are developer bots fully loaded with fresh equipment. These are the dangerous fucks, but you can take care of them easily with ranged weapons.

Then there are the boss refights which you need real gear for. They're also bullet resistant so you can't cheese them out.

also hypothetically if you're playing on steam, they have never deleted any of the monthly 90% off death metal packs, so you could just wait for the next "all 4* and 5*" gacha event, buy like 10 or 20 of those $1 packs, and get a bunch of top tier gacha crap (that you can also roll for free but is rare) and chalk up the $10 to $20 as the cost of an actual game

there are some unique bosses in the post floor 41 stuff but you can beat the actual original game fully f2p and not have any issues. just remember that you do need to upgrade gear and stuff (its like 10 to 30 minutes cooldowns on that until you get gear to the top tier research levels then its like 4 to 6 hours real time or skippable for 1 death metal ala warframe lmao)

no, Inferno is using Deathverse movement.
You slide around instead of just turning or being able to run in a circle. Stamina is heavily reduced compared to both previous games.

They removed jumping completely pretty much. You jump like a fatass attempting to hop.

The movement overall feels like shit and it doesn't help the game is hard to look at with the shitty chromatic abberation and weird vibrant grunge look they're going for.

Original LiD had a fantastic look to it, simple, clean, and super easy on the eyes.

Did 3 rounds and hit maxbody rank for the demo.
IMO, the gameplay feels too basic, normal enemies aren't a threat due to stunlock and the only hard thing to fight are other players. However, there's simply too much SPLithium in the map and the map is too large. This means that there is actually very little reason to fight other players at all.
Also, since enemies are so easy to stunlock, there's no reason to jump to the 2nd zone as soon as the round start to get dibs on rarer gear and SPLithium skulls, especially if you have certain weapons (katana) with good AoE rage skills that can wipeout the door guards easily.

I find it amusing how the demo, a thing that's supposed to sell the game, actually did the opposite for me. Maybe anons will get a proper taste for it and explain to me what I'm missing on, but right now I'm removing it from the wishlist. Such a shame.

Same thing happend to me.
Removed it from my wishlist after 2 hours. More than 70% of the map was not used at all thanks to the 15 min limit. Spawn points always are the same. Reseting my progress at the end of the demo killed it for me. No upgrade materials, talismans will be p2w items, limited storage that you can buy for real money. Not paying 30€ for a game only for it to ask me to spend another 50-100€.

For something so important and pain in the ass to fight over, you'd think they'd be more obvious. If you see a yellow marker for escape pods on your sonar and can't "see" them, they may be above you on the building and not loaded in from below to be visible.

I find myself having fun for a moment, and then after hearing player footsteps/combat nearby, the game immediately swaps genres to the standard PvEvPshit of players being the only real threat and having to hunt down and kill them before they inevitably attempt ambush me and get BONKED

Correct.
You'll see them noted special on the bottom of final score card when you kill them. You should be able to distinguish them fast enough from the normal mostly naked NPCs walking around patrol routes. Keep a fast swinging weapon like the katana or chainsaw sword, mash, and that second attack in the combo will catch almost everyone trying to roll from you.

I'm not sure how many total people are in matches yet. At least five since I just had a game where I killed three people and heard a fourth in the distance before the game ended

It's nothing like the original, if that's what you were hoping. All the different tunes, the massive amount you could browse and customise your base with in LiD - none of that's here.

I've wasted enough time on this now - it's a fucking shame, but they should have just made a straight sequel to LiD, and they should have figured this out after Deathverse flopped. This is just disappointing, frankly. Combat somehow feels weaker than the original, there's no absurd mushroom collectibles, no recovering your bodies after you lose them, no incredible OST, Uncle Death's voice actor is totally different, useless jump, skill tree was a series of boring stat upgrades for both characters, most of the post-escape upgrades were dull, no big titty elevator girl - I really loved the original LiD, but this ain't it.

For me it was clear they didn't understand the let it die sauce when they turned mushrooms into a generic health tonic and there's no sign of the mushroom magistrait.
Such a big part of let it dies world building just completey scrapped and shoved to the side, they've done this with so many aspect of the original let it die.
It's not even a videogame in a alternate world being played in an arcade anymore.
All that stylistic flourish and creativity has been sanded down, pushed to the side and recycled... fucking.. raiders association.. how fucking uninspired.

I'm really enjoying the game, I think it's a super fun mix between LID and DV, almost getting it perfect.

It's a little rough around the edges admittedly, but it's nothing that can't be ironed out, and this is obviously just a vertical slice of what's to come. Who knows what else is all in the full game come December 3rd. People act like 2 months isn't a lot of time to make some changes when it in-fact, is quite a good chunk of time for a product of this quality.

All I'd really ask for is some better optimization.
