You CS guys had the coolest maps. But I stuck with TFC for most of those years because I really liked the asymmetrical teams. If you boot up CS maps with it, you could play 4 team Deathmatch in them. IT was cool.

God I fucking love rat maps so much. There were some fun ones I recall in TF2, both for Surf and actual gameplay. One I remember was needing to actually cross the street to get to the other base's house and capture points within their house like a block castle and some others. I know this is a 1.6 nostalgia thread, but most of my experience with the vanilla maps were either against CZ bots in campaign, because cs_mansion was so fucking fun (ESPECIALLY in LAN parties), and until recently CS:S because there was a server that played all vanilla maps with some custom ones in the mix and was ridiculously fun. 32 vs 32 was fucking insane, and on small maps like Office it would look like Battlefield but with no respawning.

RIP UKCS (UKCS:CSS#1 - 78.129.244.229:27015 - 62 Player mayhem)... the last bastion of trve vnfiltered Counter Strike SOVL (in CS:S). Now everything is either boring Zombie mode or Russian servers.

This map was our first time playing zombie mode, and seeing the sped up zombie players run at us from the main building across the bridge and right into CT spawn was absolutely terrifying haha
It was a modifed siege too, with the skybox changed to a starry otherwise dark night sky, and the entire map's brightness levels were further reduced.
