>No, I never played GTA and I don't care.>Have YOU ever read any classics like Dostoevsky? How do you respond without sounding like a mad incel midwit gamer /v/?
Why do people treat voice actors like they’re experts on whatever they're cast in? It’s just a job for them.
>>723239474Of course I've read Crime and Punishment, are you 12 years old?
"sorry I asked"
>>723239474>DostoevskyAren't you a little old to be "the smart freshman"?
>>723239474There was no reason to press him after he said "I'm not a gamer".Also fuck these videos that can't do captions that make sense. There's like 3 people talking but it's shown as a long run-on sentence.
>>723239474if that guy doesn't care why does he go to those conventions
>>723239474I have played every single GTA and I also have read most of Dostoyevsky works
Dostoevsky is boring as fuck, Kafka is cooler and funnier
>>723239474Apologize for acting like a mad incel dimwit gamer by asking pointless questions
I prefer Nisio Isins prose
>>723239474He's an old cringe try hard. It's pathetic to have disdain for the work that got you paid and is the reason you voluntarily went to a convention. He's literally worse than a whore.
>>723239474>DostoplebskyBabby's first "serious" author
Downloading Crime and Punishment right now, what am I in for /v/ros
just say "you're the guy who got famous by voicing a cartoon character" and watch him have a meltdowndude's entire career is playing the minor villain that dies within a few episodes in shows anyway
>>723239474>be a big star of gta5>asking him whether he has played gta5>havent written or worked on any dostoevsky book>"HUUURRR HAVE YOU READ THE IDIOT"this is why america is mentally illnobody can give an inch and see things from another's perspective
>>723239474Crime and Punishment isn't very good. If you want to be elitist you trick people into reading Moby Dick like god intended
>>723239862>Also fuck these videos that can't do captions that make senseThe modern zoomer brain will lose focus as soon as information slow down down.
>>723239667>expert>hey did you play the game you were in, by the way this is an event where the other actors in the same game are also being asked questions>uhh have you read this highschool level novel??
>>723240283the ironic thing is even the original guitarists can't play this live at normal speed, let alone twice as fast. women are so fucking stupid
>>723240207>Downloading CP instead of The Brothers KaramazovNGMI
>>723239474This isn’t a book fair
>>723239474"Of course. The Brothers Karamazov is the greatest novel ever written."
>>723239474I enjoyed Crime and Punishment, but as far as existentialism goes I believe Sartre's essays were a more substantive read.
>>723239474I wouldn't ask him about playing videogames because I'm not a retarded faggot so...I wouldn't need to respond.
he acts like a child. Instead of just moving onto other projects gracefully he’s made half his identity about disliking gta and trying to distance from it. When his only acting roles are in amc shows & might as well be Trevor 1.5
>>723240207>Guy commits crime because “I’m too based to be poor” and copes about it for 600 pages.
>>723239724>>723239794People quick to point out that "you read him in Highschool!" Never come up with anything better or, even worse, they get excited for the dumbest shit.Which makes me think they may have read it in highschool, but understood very little about it.
>>723239474Why can't he just ride along the fame like Ned and Shawn do?
>>723239474I wouldn't respond. I would listen. And that's what no one else did.
>>723239474>hates video games>hates GTA probably>still goes to all these vidya cons
>>723240182He is a whore. He hates his fans but he's whoring out to them every day.
>>723239474By putting down the games and reading Dostoevsky's Crime and Punishment.
>>723240617>followed around for your whole life by annoying children who want you to play with the gay little toy you had a hand in producing>Eventually grow resentful and start shitting on themExtremely relatable.
>>723239667For people like this it's their entire legacy.I don't even remember the guy who played Harry Potter.I just call him Harry Potter. Not many actors can be in multiple successful franchises like Harrison Ford

>>723240769>followed around for your whole life by annoying children who want you to play with the gay little toy you had a hand in producing>Eventually grow resentful and start shitting on themAnd yet he keeps going to the places where the people he hates will bother him.
>>723240372Your mom isn't very good.
>>723240207Don't forget Notes from the NFS Underground
>>723240513The Brothers Karamazov is a fucking snoozefest
>>723239474You don’t seem to understand the assignment. That’s okay, you’re just a voice actor and it might be a little complicated for you. Market promote the your products and move on. It’s really not that hard bud.
>>723239667Lack of empathy is common in autists
>um have you read this thing that is better because... it's old?
Steven Oggs message to /v https://m.youtube.com/shorts/NhIBt9ndOss
>>723240741hes paid to go to these things. generally, any convention with celebrities has paid them to be there.
>>723239667>Why do people treat voice actors like they’re experts on whatever they're cast in? It’s just a job for them. Why do these voice actors keep going to events where they know fans will keep asking the same questions over and over and then get mad about it like a retard?
>>723240852>And yet he keeps going to the places where the people he hates will bother him.Conventions pay lots and a lot of people just say normal things and aren't RETARDED NIGGERS who think old men in the acting/film business play GT-fucking-A. This only happens because zoomers overvalue that fucking mid-as-fuck open world cashgrab.
>>723240596>I wouldn't ask someone who worked on a video game about video games in video games live eventDefinitely a retarded faggot.
>>723239474Did you know that it's literally impossible for Steven Ogg to be a cartoon?
>>723240979>>723240989He should be gracious to the fans that gave him is life that he is living with their support.
>>723240596Yeah instead you’ll ask him if he wants his cock or balls spit-shined first
>>723239862Its all Ai fed and published. Reminder AI is just a tool, and when you see this shit it's not the AI's fault, it's the lazy motherfucker who didn't bother to check and published it.
>>723241054He’s a lolcow, his only saving grace is that he doesn’t spend time on social media but if he did, dedicated trolls
>>723241079ogg is clearly gracious, because theres tons of videos of him goofing around with fans. if you want to see what it looks like when an actor hates whats hes known for, look up any video of harrison ford interacting with star wars fans. the man looks like he would rather be dead than in their vicinity.
tf you want me to talk about b? your role in Better Call Saul? you were basically Trevor in that too
>Make money, but deal with annoying people >Make less/no money, but no annoying people Welcome to having a job, faggots.
>>723239474What if he's acting like Trevor by saying that he doesn't like Trevor in 4 dimensional method acting. Steven played you all like a fiddle.
>>723239474i started listening to the audiobook of brothers karamazov but dropped it about half way throughi began reading oblomov and thought it was decent but i got bored of iti checked out the rose of the world alsothese are the russian things ive tried
>>723240182>>723240273>>723240758>>723240782Ok so are these guys "whores" too?

>>723239474Why does he look so familiar?
>>723241567dostoevsky is the easiest author to read, if you can't handle that I think you're just fucked anon..
>>723239474wtf is the point of these "arguments"? Bro you acted in the fucking game. I didn't write Dostoevsky.
>>723241614Yes. All actors are massive fags.
>>723239474He’s right and you know it, he’s an actor and don't need to be eternally immersed on every role he got.>B-but is the biggest role of his career?!.Well, seems that he doesn't see it in that way.
>>723241614>the lad, now in his thirties, is not living in a fantasy world of second hand, childish banalitiesWhy did he have to call me out like that?
>>723241887He's pretty obvious about hating his fans and role
>>723239667Because people are stupid and detrimentally social, and they want to feel some sense of belonging. They'll attach themselves to anything because they lack or have none of it in their actual lives.
>>723241662hes a bit part actor thats been in a bunch of stuff
>>723241887true, his bigger roles would be appearing in better call saul for two episodes or getting beaten the shit out of him by negan in the walking dead
>>723241614Holy based
>>723239474Yes, I did read Crime and Punishment and Karamazon Brothers and others. But I still haven't played GTA5. 4 was the last one I played and it was mostly boring.
>>723241887Yeah his other D-list roles where he also plays a balding psycho criminal.
>>723240441I keep telling people women genuinely get upset if they see men happy, and they aren't the cause of it.
>>723241614Yep
I read Dante, Victor Hugo (in French), Verlaine, Camus and others.
>>723241739its boring. dostoevsky was sold to me as 'whoa this guy had to write things to pay his bills but hes a genius and such authentic characters he really got people'.It had some good lines but i already know enough psychology with out needing a russian to tell me how people work through fictional characters observations and comments, so with out that its just not very engaging.
>>723240207walls closing in: the book
>>723240852>And yet he keeps going to the places where the people he hates will bother him.Because he wants to get paid.I'm sure you may hate half your co-workers, or hate half the customers/clients you interact with daily, but you still go to work, don't you?Taxes don't pay themselves after all.
>>723241614So is he a force ghost yay or nay?
Imagine being a classically trained actor, and the peak of your career is playing a fucking cartoon psycho caricature. Embarrassing.
>>723239474why does he go to these events if he's so annoyed by people asking him about the one single thing he's known for
I went to a convention that had Charles Martinet, and someone asked him if Geno will be in Smash Ultimate. And obviously he's not going to have the answer. Even if he knew who was in what, NDA. It must fucking suck being asked the stupidest fucking shit from people at these cons, especially something that puts radar mentally unhinged person to find out about. "Does your character support the thing?"
>>723242502Maybe he should have been a better actor so that people can remember him as more than generic background goon #4, until then he should stop being a whiny bitch all the time. It’s unprofessional and tactless
>after the role of a lifetime, I've been busy
>>723242772this guy would be the perfect casting for a Steven Paddock movie
>>723242772yikes no wonder he's so insecure
>>723239474Zoomer bro>You need to read Dostoyevsky>"cool I'll look into it"Steven Ogg>You need to play GTA V>"WHAT THE FUCK DID YOU SAY TO ME LITTLE SHIT I'M NOT A CARTOON I AM AN ESTABLISHED ACTOR"

>>723242772He only got this role because Old Spice wanted zoomer GTAV customers too lol
>>723239474>do you get called out on the street as the guy who reads dostoevsky or as trevor? >do you put on your resume for gigs that you read dostoevsky or that you played trevor?
>>723239934Just to shit on fans and then take their money for autographs as they do so.Kind of a chad move desu
>>723241614Why is Ford always so bitter?
>>723239474No, Dostoevsky didn’t give me my career.
>>723241356Alec Guinness was also funny whenever he was asked about SW, which he considered children's movies
>>723239474Books are for ugly niggas.
>>723243164It would be if he didn’t throw a fit anytime someone asked him about GTA like a drama queen.
>>723239474God I hate smug bookfags so fucking much. Especially when you just know all they read is stupid fiction. Reading fiction literature is overrated as fuck as an activity, and russian literature even more so. It just seems "shofisticated" to burgers cause it's not on their usual school reading list so it's easy to pretend to be well-read when you know who Dostoevsky is. And for the record- I have read Crime and Punishment and it's boring af. It's literally about a guy who rationalizes killing his landlord, kills her and then feels about it for the next few hundred pages of the novel. I think it appeals to NPCs with no internal monologue, because that's what 80% of the book is.
>>723241356I too would rather be dead than in the vicinity of a Star Wars fan.
>>723239474It's like working with Dostoïevsky on a book, and then, at a book convention, you say you don't give a shit about books because you're a video game guy.
>>723239474People seem legitamitely unaware that the statement was not "Read a book" but "Just because everyone says it's good doesn't mean you are interested"I look down on all of you for your lack of subtlety and insist you descend from a lower class of men
>>723239724My father used to force me and my siblings to read crime and punishment as a punishment when we were young.I never read it, I just pretended I did.
>>723241614The thing with ford is he does know what it is, he just pretends to not because people think of him as han solo and not Harrison boring fuckwit ford

>i'm not a gamer, i've never played a video game>"ok but uh like have you played GTAV?"Zoomies...
>>723239474>goes to gaming convention>gets mad he got asked a question about a video game I thought book nerds were supposed to be smart.

>>723241614Han Solo would never say that.
>>723243804non-fiction is the only thing worth reading after you graduate high school (unless you're a woman I guess). You'll get it once you grow up kid

>>723239474Dostoïevsky is overrated.
>>723239934>>723244606Anon, they get paid a shitton to attend and often charge people to take picture and for signatures. It's an easy payday everybody sucks you off and you probably get to fuck a cute fan at one of the afterhours parties if you want.
>>723244221>Nonfiction is just opinions for women and losers to memorize and recite to their friendslol whatever you say faggot.
>PAY VOICE ACTORS WHAT THEY'RE FUCKING WORTH
>>723239474I get where this dude's coming from, but why engage with gta fans at all if you don't like video games? He's literally in a gaming convention lmao. Why isn't he at a book club?
>>723241614I do find it weird how Harrison Ford is so vocally against nerd shit but basically all he does is that and action movies where he plays a gruff but charming detective or something. I remember reading somewhere once that his favorite movie of his is The Mosquito Coast, and I like that movie and I like that he plays what I would consider a very un-Harrison Ford character in it, but if he really prefers stuff like that then I don't see why 90% of his filmography is the kind of thing he's always shitting on instead. Even if it's just the money, I'd at least think he would have more roles that are a bit more novel mixed in among his usual fare if that were the case.

I understand actors and VAs not wanting to be associated with one thing only for the rest of their career. I get it, I really do. You even see that with people that do youtube about one single game or games released by one company only, saw it a lot with fromsoftware cultists that only and exclusively played souls PvP and nothing else for years and years until it dawned on them that fromsoft was never gonna treat those games like fighting games so they had to change their content, especially the streamers. Saw it a lot with shit games like warframe too, and bethesda games or fallout 76 and so on. I get it.But the way to break away from a label or a mold like that is to do your work and prove yourself in other works. People like Troy Baker successfully broke from the "that guy from the one role he did 10+ years ago" label and he did it by just working. Yes, he does the Troy Baker standard voice now but it's because directors ask him to, he does have range and does good work. It's a separate topic. What you DON'T do is go around being an asshole that also hasn't done any work to make you stand out from your one role you got famous for. At that point you can't act out and demand people take you seriously or know you for something else. That's just not how real life works. People put a label on them because they failed to break out of it, they did not have the skills to do so. I didn't even know who the fuck Steven Ogg was before GTAV or that he voiced in other games before and that he's been on TV. Charlie Cox forgot he was even Gustave in E33 and flat out said he wasn't a gamer and didn't play it at all, but that he was happy the studio was doing well after the game exploded in popularity and that people enjoyed his performance. That's how you do it, you don't throw tantrums.

>>723250038>Charlie Cox forgot he was even Gustave in E33 and flat out said he wasn't a gamer and didn't play it at all, but that he was happy the studio was doing well after the game exploded in popularity and that people enjoyed his performance.Yes but that was handled totally differently. It's a totally different context. Was Charlie slapped with "HEY CHARLIE ARE YOU HYPE FOR THE 5 MILLION PLAYERS UPDATE?!"? >>723250234People just need to have more empathy and be able to put themselves in other's shoes or think about their point of view. Cushing enjoys wargaming miniatures, so it's easy to see why he might enjoy the tism of star wars. Ford is a jock, he grew up with noir and more personality driven settings like that as opposed to jargon-laiden sci-fi and so he dislikes sci-fi and that dislike is increased by the fandom's behavior.Everyone has dealt with fandoms that are insufferable. Ford has dealt with for what, nearly FIFTY YEARS the most obnoxious fans possible. Think about how quickly we've all dealt with fandoms that are insufferable, now imagine them not being unavoidable but rather seeking you out and bombarding you with shit for 40-50 years. After 3 decades of being badgered weekly about Deltarune or Warhammer or Genshin Impact or whatever I'm pretty sure we'd all be fucking bitter as hell.

That's a really shitty and slippery strategy you have there.

>>723251976Not really because objectively your comparison fails. A commercial is well understood as a one time gig with very little dedication. Spending months to a year on a huge franchise and many voice actors actually do play games or at least touch the game they're in? Massive difference. No one asks him about the Old Spice commercial and assume he's an avid bather and user of old spice do they? Not only that but he fails to do basic thinking on what comes with that role. Yes. You're going to be asked videogame questions. He wants to be a serious actor, then he needs to act like he has some common sense when takes people's money to attend these events. He knows no one is going to ask about his role in Westworld or Saul.I'm honestly waiting for people to wisen up so the conventions stop inviting him. His tone will change once the money dries up.
>>723249637>Then again he doesn’t go to cons while slapping a bunch of pictures of Niko around his face like Steve here
I read a lot of fantasy but I can't get in to philosophy or those deep meaningful delves in to human phychology, to boring. Animal farm was probably the only "smart" person book I ever read because it was funny picturing all these animals doing a mock soviet revolution.
>>723239474He already replied with>No, but I would like to tryThis fucker is some elitist idiot who has done the same kind of roles three times out of which only Trevor is memorable and that eats him up.I recently watched The Walking Dead so I know he plays a guy named Simon in it who is a mellowed version of Trevor and in Better Call Saul he did Simon but without the apocalypse.

>>723252703It's okay he doesn't play games. Good thing you mentioned hes older. That means he should know better about how to act in public when he's being paid to talk to people. Voice acting is way more investment than a commercial and you know that. You can stop with the failed comparison. It failed when you tried to argue one mountain biker commercial leading to this problem when no one cares about his old spice commercial or his other roles. The differences are tangible and the comparison fails. Like I said, I hope people start realizing he's like this and understand it's pointless to pay him anymore for these events. Because that's the point we're at. Can't blame the old man for taking money he doesn't have to, going places he doesn't want to be, and signing up for things he hates. Can't blame him for those decisions, it's out of his control! The crime! The punishment!

Any normal, non-niggerbained person might imagine that he gets that a lot and might not enjoy it.

>>723253413>How excited are you? Not>Are you excited?Already assuming things about him, acting like he must be just like you. It was heavy with subtext. That's exactly the sort of assumptive question that would wear somebody the fuck down.
>>723253495I swear it's Ogg in this thread. Only people actually involved in the social interaction freak out like this and get hyperbolic about the offenses against them.
>>723253380But you just said he wasn't rude.
>>723253495It's not a reasonable assumption. He's an old man. Men from his generation generally aren't gamers. You'll have to accept that. >>723253565Where?
>>723240654more like>guy thinks because Napoleon can get people killed in legal circumstances he can just kill people because he's based in illegal circumstance because he's me fr fr>proceeds to downward spiral over the fact that he killed a kike at thatNot sure if I'm too based to be poor was part of that necessarily
>>723239474Yeah no shit I read it, when I was a little kid. Are you seriously discovering basic literature at 60
>>723244963>1 of 1>Unique accomplishment in a world of 8.5 billion peopleonly a women would call this a bad thing. I couldn't imagine my life being so pathetic that I go out of my way to ad hominem someone objectively better at something than me, talk about being an insecure faggot
>>723253609>assuming a guy who acted in a series is excited for the next entry in said series is extremely rude>assuming a guy of a certain age isn't a gamer isn't rude at all?
>>723240283Yeah women would for sure be lining up to fuck a guy who looks like this once they heard Dragonforce
>>723239474Your at a gaming expo selling autographs. Of course I have Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire in twelves volumes on my leatherbound kindle.
>>723244901Not OP butBeta & the human physiology Aurora House of Leaves And a bonus Dispelling Wetiko If you read this list your understanding of the world will be fundamentally altered purified and enriched with purpose.
>>723253717He googled Top Ten Books on Google and read it on a long flight. Either that or it's the only book he can think of that sounds fancy. No one is even commenting he asked the kid if they were excited for when it comes out. His mind's scrambled from triggered he is about videogames.
>>723240283I mean if we're talking about real accomplishments then this guy built a bigger audience than most people who casually play guitar do. It's a real achievement.
>>723253609>He acted fine though. He just said "no" and then countered with an equivalent example to show the zoomer how rude he had been. You are downplaying how rude and snippy his response was, then you said he WAS rude and snippy but it's ok because the zoomer was rude first (he wasn't). What are you doing?
>my play pretend is better than your play pretend
>>723253958>You are downplaying how rude and snippy his response wasNo I'm not lol>then you said he WAS rude and snippy but it's ok because the zoomer was rude first He was. Assumptive questions are quite easily rude if you don't use enough empathy and contextual awareness.
>>723250152I haven't read other russian works but found the stream of conciousness in CnP juicy. It really makes you feel raskolnikov's inner termoil.
>>723254182There's no argument here at all.
>>723243485That's a crime
>>723254141The sad fact is that books and games can influence you for the better. It just doesn't do that for most people. Most people don't use them like that and treat it all like passing fancies. Its why it's hilarious when people try to lord books over others or stage plays. For a guy who likes Crime and Punishment I guess Ogg didn't catch the whole thing about pride separating one from society and how one isolates themselves.
>>723254467Do you not get that the whole thing where people assumed you're a gamer and obviously won't like the fact that you aren't one is literally the same thing just with less intellectualism?
>>723254310If you ever ask me anything about anything just know you are rude, crude and out of control! Read a book, loser!
>>723254574>What books do you like?>*autistic shrieking*
>>723254536Yes but they have the excuse of not having read it.
>>723254536Whoa buddy. No one has agreed with you. Rude to assume anyone has. Your post is absolutely caked with assumptions and therefore layered with rudeness. Reading books? Invent new medicinal treatments. You excited about the cure for a new sickness? Didn't think so.
>>723254467Shit, I didn't either.
>reflect argument to autist>immediate and sudden silence
>>723241614Holy motherfucking based>b-but he's le bitterStop being a manchild. You all love to harp about muh conservative value but when it's time to become a fucking man and abandon your childish entertainment you shit your pants and cry.
I really need to stop coming here. This isn't 4chan anymore, it's a bunch of assholes arguing in bad faith just to waste your time and annoy you. Hours wasted "winning" a dumb debate for nothing.
>>723255816The zoomer was in the wrong. Cope.
>>723247145get out while you can
