The only guaranteed-exclusive series Nintendo has that I used to care about was Pokemon and that was like 20ish years ago. I think the last one I played before I realized I'd had "enough" of it was Pokemon Ruby. I heard Emerald was a fun one, but something in my brain made me feel like I'd gotten all the fun I could out of this franchise. I came back once or twice, mostly with romhacks and weird mods, but I never got the feeling the old games game me so I essentially quit.Mario, Zelda, Metroid and so on never really interested me much.

They have mastered the art of keeping costs low (by not falling for the 8k assets meme) and games coming out regularly enough with recognizable names, to feel like a constant stream while also being just far enough between for nostalgia for "a new Mario/Pokemon/Zelda game" to build up. Even when quality slips the fans will still be there for the next game because the fans know that in a few years there WILL be a next game.Marketing, Japan's low cost of development and brand recognition handles the rest.
