What's fucking crazy is that if Devil's Third didn't get fucked over so hard in its development and wasn't forced to be on the Wii U, its multiplayer could have been seen as a triumph as massive as Ninja Gaiden and DOA for Itagaki. It was so insanely ambitious: part Battlefield, part Counter Strike, part NG, part Metal Gear Online, part Chromehounds, part EVE Online. It was basically an MMO persistent war complete with base building, war economies, treaties and alliances, defections, and spying. There's legitimately nothing like it. They tried to salvage just the multiplayer twice as F2P PC games (Devil's Third Online in Japan only, then later Rockshot worldwide), but no marketing meant that nobody knew they existed or had any idea just how much depth was in there.
