Why don't Newgrounds animators ever finish their games?
Chris doesn’t even like video games, he was only autistic about final fantasy 7 as a kid and that was it.He probably thought it would be cool to make a whole game than got bored when the fun initial design phase is done and now its the boring actually making it part
>>723396758He doesn’t look like that anymore
>>723396841Like the dude hasn’t even finished ff7 since he was a kid. He tried to replay it on camera like 3 times and stops playing before he even leaves midgar
>>723396841I find it very funny that pretty everyone that shows up on OneyPlays mentions that Chris doesn’t like video games.
>>723396758Its gonna be out...
>>723396758Chris was such a handsome fella before he became fat and bald. To answer your question, it's because this guy didn't know what he was singing up for. The kind of game he wanted to make required considerably more work than he expected. So he ended up too overwhelmed and/or drained of resources, so he eventually put the game on hold, which is a sort of unofficial cancelling. He should probably try doing something else with a much smaller scope.
>>723396758When Cory mentions Nightmare cops for the 3rd time in a single episode I lol.
>>723397171Isn’t it a basic 2d platformer. I don’t know how much simpler he can make it outside maybe a walking sim or visual novel
E-celebs can't make games.>$36,000 for a visual novel>four years later>can't finish the VN>turns visual novel into a webcomic>can't even finish the webcomic>makes an excuse that he has eye problems yet he’s still making art>too busy shitposting with his friends Wamu and SrPelo on Twitter
>>723397348He can always scrap it and make a puzzle game for gameboy.
someone post the altered image when they're sitting at some panel
>>723397348Whatever it is he had in mind, it was clearly beyond what he was able to complete. He should still try making something much smaller, regardless of how big or small the scope for Bowlbo was.
>>723396758Is RPG maker a good engine? I feel like most of these guys who go into making games run into the issue of having to wrestle with an engine that does what they want. Ive seen platformers made in RPG maker just fine, so then whats left is to make assets and maps, why do people avoid it?
>>723396841>plays videogames for a living>doesnt even likes videogames>his favorite game is ff7>which he hasnt beaten more than once since he was a kidyeah Chris definetely lurks /v/
>>723397552yes its good, you dont even have to make rpgs with it if you know how to take advantage of the tools given to you
>>723396758hungry knight was posted on newgrounds and hollow knight silksong just came out last month. oh animators. uhh why didn't you post an animator. that guy is more of a nepo baby to rich parents in ireland.>father owned a successful businessyeah nepo baby.
I HECKIN LOVE MY SAFE-EDGY LETSPLAY FRIEND SIMULATOR
>>723397276>is funny>is competent at videogames>created friday night funkin>makes cory tolerablehes my favorite guest
>>723397803it's kinda nuts how many successful e-celebs are nepo babies. it's not mentioned that much but pewdiepies mom is one of the richest people in sweden, before he even started youtube. There's only a few who are true rags to riches
>>723397732Thats what I mean, just make the platformer in RPG maker rather than having to fight with an engine just to make it work. Chris is an artist trying to be a programmer, he couldve just used an engine that "just works" and make assets.
>>723397552From what I know, it's extremely limiting. It does a lot of things for you, but in effect almost all the games made with it play the same. But if it is what it takes to be able to even complete a project, then maybe it's not a bad option. Plus it's not like it's impossible to make a good game with it. The original Lisa: The Painful was made with RPG maker. I haven't played Fear & Hunger, but a lot of people like it, and it was also made with RPG maker. But I don't think it's at all suited for something like Bowlbo, which from what I understood was supposed to be a momentum-based platformer.
>>72339755290% of games made on rpg maker share so many assets and use basic huds that came pre packaged it feels low quality. An engine is just something you build the meat of the game on so if it works for what you’re doing Thats fineWhat most people do is they try to make something big for their first game and lose heart when it turns out to be an insane amount of work and they have no idea how to proceed.99% of successful devs modern and old have like 6 small projects before their big hit they did in their free time
>>723397146...when it's out
>>723396758The spirit science guy finished his games.
>>723397552The enjoyment level of every RPG maker game I've ever played directly correlated to how good the writing was.If you're a shit writer, honestly don't bother. If you're a good writer, it might be a good vessel for your story.
>>723397803You are retarded if you think Chris is a "nepo baby", as if Chris become a Newgrounds animator e-celeb just because of his dad and not by his own merit. Any middle class kid could accomplish what Chris has if they only had the necessary amount of talent, motivation and luck - AND MANY DID.
>>723397602Not true. I havent beaten ff7 even 1. I stopped after that floating desert casino.
>>723396841he likes the games they play on the channel more often than he dislikes them, even if he has a negative opinion about some aspect
retarded animal babies deserves a south park like game. RAB is amazing stuff
>>723396758>>723397552Hijacking this thread for a minute:Does anyone have experience with pic related? I been considering getting it since my game is pretty small scope and this seems like the best fit
>>723396758Madness Nexus 1 was so good. Really felt like a playable madness animation. But they fucked up by making the sequel 3D, which removed a ton of the charm from madness
>>723398647True but hes not really the one playing usually, hes just kinda hanging out with friends while making commentary
>>723398828I think Dave mentioned during Astro Bot that it was the first time Chris was given the controls and didn’t immediately give it back after 5 minutes
>>723398895>Astro Bot is so good it made Chris fall in love with videogames againi kneel to sony
>>723398895This might be due to external reasons. Maybe he's too self-conscious about the audience judging him for his gameplay. Or he notices that he isn't able to riff/be funny as much when he's the one playing, and that's the role he feels the most comfortable in. He also has had some chronic pain issues, which probably doesn't help.
>>723397946Having rich parents doesn't make you into a nepo baby, go look up what nepotism means
Are they all jealous of Zach finding mainstream success?
>>723399724If anyone was to break out, it was him
>>723397946Pewdiepie is a bad example, it's known he used to sell hot dogs for a living, and later on sold digital designs or something like that, before doing YoutubeHe definitely would still have financial security if it didn't work out, but that doesn't make someone a nepobaby
>>723399724They got returning roles and some work on his show, why would they.
>>723399724im pretty sure Tomar was the first one to have mainstream success
>>723396758He's working on it
>>723396758Idk but I've enjoyed his stuff since I was younger. Hoping he's successful and fulfilled, but at least he's making decent $ with his oneyplays stuff.
>>723396758why doesnt he just open a patreon and releases uncensored videos? he would be swimming in cash
