Do you still play Animal Crossing?
>>723440256Yep, I have a save file I've been playing since 2017
>>723440256That was the only good one.
>>723440256my switch broke and i want to play animal crossing :(
>love animal crossing>Always hated the furry fanbase>absolutely hated the tranny fanbase of New HorizonsIt sucks being a normal person and loving animal crossing.
>>723440256I still hope that the next game will be a bit more like the first one but I know it'll never happen. I don't know how they'll do it but they'll somehow make it more of a dollhouse than the last one. That in and of itself doesn't necessarily bother me, I just want the "feeling" of the first game to come back. I don't think the current state of Japan and the entire world will allow for that though, the kind of game that the first one is just isn't possible to make anymore.
>try to play the original AC>don't enjoy it because I still remember every villager interaction and their rewards and without the novelty of finding things for the first time playing the game feels like a chore>try to play New Horizons in a borrowed Switch>don't enjoy it because the game genuinely feels like a chore now since I have to build the entire town and the furniture from groundI think I'm too old or jaded to enjoy the games.
>>723441817What exactly is the "feeling"? Cus I was was there for the first game and the only thing I miss is the NES games.
>xe doesn't own the AC playing cardsLol
I stopped playing the gaycube animal crossing because it took too long to get the fishing rod
>>723442139I've played since leak of horizons and I've still yet to get the golden shovel from that seagull nigger. Ended up getting a silver shovel from a mod instead.
>>723441614didn't know that chelodoy could make soulful art besides porn
>>723440638cute space buns :)>>723440683cute dreadlocks>>723440734cute bald!
>>723442182what is he looking at?
I haven't played NH for a few years, gets a bit stale when you've heard your villagers say the same things 1000 times
>>723441904It mostly stems from you having to be apart of the community you're in instead of being able to shape your entire playing field and determine which animals you have, etc. . The original's lack of agency in that regard really made you appreciate the experience more, I think.I will admit that a little bit of it is nostalgia, but I think that the original game actually has better design than the switch game in a lot of places. The entire idea behind the game was that you simulate life in a small community where things are obviously more easy going and less committal than real life. In the first game animals move out suddenly, they steal your items if you're not careful talking to them, and the debt was a little harder to pay off without selling turnips. If you don't have knowledge of the game and how it tries to make you "lose" it feels kind of harsh at points. That and the villagers generally having more scathing things to say if they're a certain personality type or if you piss them off. Maybe it was just because I was 20 years younger when I originally played the game but I remember being surprised that the animals in a game that looks like AC would talk to you like that.
>>723443412The original Japanese release doesn't have as much dialogue variety. NoA at the time felt it necessary to add more because they saw the potential in having the animals being more expressive and how you would get bored with the game sooner if they mostly just said the same things every day. The reason why the newer games don't have this variety in the dialogue is because the original developers/writers don't really see the need for it. I don't really think it's quite as bad in New Horizions as people say, the game actually "hides" the better dialogue behind an initial greeting that's one of a few different lines. If you talk to the animals a few times in a row they start saying slightly more interesting things. In the original they would open up with a repeated greeting and then get into the more varied dialogue in the same instance of you talking to them. I think they split it up like this because people can't pay attention as long as they used to and they worried about people getting bored in the middle of a conversation. Maybe the developers just aren't as competent as the ones that made the first game in this regard. The daily dripfeed of furniture and other things you could buy was a lot slower in the original and it made you more excited to see what you would get tomorrow than the new games do. The online or wireless multiplayer kind of ruined this for a lot of people. If you aren't very patient you can go to another person's island and basically collect all of the items in the game. They call them touch trade islands or something. That's absolutely your call if you want to do that or not, people have debated if you should time travel since the first game and it brings the same result. It's your game and your decision how you want to play, I and many people just think that being patient and playing the game day by day is more satisfying. The ability to play with other people itself is great but I think it kind of ruined a lot of the pacing.
>>723443520Finally just the atmosphere of the first game really makes it for me, personally. I know that sounds really faggy and it make it seem like I only like it for nostalgic reasons but the harsher environment with things being "harder" and the animals being more nasty like I talked about in the previous post contrasts with the easygoing forest vibes and the music and it really just hits. I like the music in the newer games but I don't think it comes close to fitting the feeling of Animal Crossing like the first game's does.It made a lot of sense when I read about the director basing the game off of his experience of moving to Kyoto to work for Nintendo and how he had to leave everything and everyone he knew behind and start over all by himself. The game does feel lonely until you've gotten into your daily routines, which get broken by someone moving away unexpectedly or you missing an event or something.
>>723440256>animal crossinglol
>>723440256Maybe
>>723442880I remember changing one of my animal's catchphrase to hellbird and then deleting my file because I was afraid of my parents or someone seeing it
>>723442406So cute!!!!
>>723440256I play them all for at least a couple years but I'm not actively playing any right now, the longest I've played is new leaf, played it for about 3-4 years, still have that save from when it came out, I coped and played new horizons up until the final update, didn't pick up the DLC and subsequently dropped the game, dissapointed in what it turned out to behope the next one isn't shit
Do not post your human villager or I WILL jack off to thoughts of violating them
>>723446238i only post animal villagers, mostly male
>>723440256Hopes for the S2 version?
>>723448660A free 3D camera
>>723448660Massive backpedaling from NH on many fronts, I hope.
>>723441548>hisI never understood the Redd X Nook ship
>>723449080it's cute
>>723448997I dont think NH was bad, I think tons of people cheated and ruined their experience, and then the game took years to update to get lots of basic shit so everyone that played it when it was new got burned out real fast and dropped it.
>>723449209>>723447240please fuck off and die you already ruined the other thread with your homoshit
>>723443030should I buy pocket camp? I never played it when it was free
>>723449080Redd swindled and abandoned Nook after luring him into a massive scam, leaving Nook destitute and destroying his dreams of making it big in the city.To homosexual brains, this is a love story.
I'd boink the shit out of Blathers but only after spending the first three hours discussing cultural anthropology
Damn I just realized I really miss animal crossingI should start a new town in Wild world to scratch the itch
>>723448660If they want to break all records again they will let us play as an animal
>>723449273>tons of people cheated and ruined their experienceI did not and it remains my least favorite of the series by a wide margin.
>>723449878I forgot to mention the crafting stuff, because I actually forgot about it somehowI actually think it was a good idea to add more progression outside just money but I can see how many people hated it because it was not in the series before and it was forced on players
>>723449515Can you even douche a cloaca?
>>723440256Actually yes. I still play almost every day
bmp
>>723449080something made up by tourists who don't remember Redd X Lyle
>>723443520>hiding dialogue behind greetings and generic contextual dialogueWhoever decided on this system should be shot. It's genuinely the worst design decision in the entire series, second only to City Folk's animal tracks. The contextual dialogue is meant to make it feel like your villagers are actually paying attention to your actions, but it's so painfully artificial that all it achieves is drawing attention to that artifice - even if you ignore the fact that this simply isn't how friends behave. What's worse is that it punishes players who want to read the actual unique dialogue that's hidden behind>I saw you dig up a fossil yesterday>I saw you plant a fruit tree yesterday>I see you're wearing STRING_PLAYER_CLOTHING todaybecause any attempt to pretend that the villagers have any personality is preceded by mashing through 2-3 dialogues that prove that they don't.So fucking stupid.
My Switch just stopped charging, so my island is dead. No idea what happened.
Women ruined this game for me
>>723448660flesh out the animal villagers more. it was always weird how they were essentially magically self-sufficient trust fund kids or like crypto investors or whatever with infinite free time, but at least before NH they had personalities. NH sanitized the fun of talking to villagers out entirely, so they essentially just became decorations, and that's how people treated them.they should give the villagers jobs and make getting your town to some level of tangible economic propserity the goal. they already have -farming/gardening (from the NH update)-mining (from rocks, sort of)-fishing-woodcuttingas tasks you can do, i feel like the next step is to take after town builders and give your generic villagers jobs beyond just freeloading around and looking nice.if you added job strengths/weaknesses as a third variable, you'd be able to make villagers feel more unique in a hands-on way that actually impacts gameplay. what job the villager does would affect their schedule and dialogue and maybe what gifts they give and like to receive.
>>723440256fuck no the n64 game was too basic to stick with and the series peaked with wild world before cheats became widespread killing peoples saves communities everythingnowadays the newest games feel like somebody's wearing your moms skin on their face asking for money
>>723443520>The original Japanese release doesn't have as much dialogue variety. NoA at the time felt it necessary to add moreThis sounds like another one of those bullshit myths like "DnMe+ retranslated NoA's script back to Japanese" (In reality it just put DnM+'s script back into the international version and added new dialogue for the new features added). I'm guessing what's actually the case is that DnM+, which is what all international versions of AC were based on, had more dialogue than DnM64 which should be a given with how much more it added.
>>723449468Kek
>>723448660>>723455347other random things animal crossing switch 2 should really have:1) minigames, especially something really addictive/replayable like a final fantasy card game (like ff8 triple triad or ff7 rebirth queen's blood). desert island escape from new leaf was excellent, please bring that back2) at least 4 nook shop upgrades3) music that feels more like pre-NH animal crossing soundtracks4) expanding the interior decorating minigame to areas in your town. ie you designate an area as a park and theres like some requirements for decorations you have to fulfill to get the game to recognize it as a proper park, and that contributes to some town rating (so the game would require you to put some amount of park-like furniture, some amount of whatever kind of tree you like, etc within the designated space)5) add some kind of time limit gauntlet rush version of the interior decorating minigame where you have to design rooms quickly within a tight time limit and there's a bunch of general guidelines that make your score higher or lower (chairs and sofas must be accessible, TVs/screens facing a sensible direction, etc). maybe you can clock in a couple times a week, do some gauntlets, clock out, get rewards based on how well you do6) if it's gonna be really town buildy, then make it less of an aimless decoration sim and more about building areas that villagers can actually interact with in some meaningful way (parks, town squares, commercial areas, farms, gardens, recreational areas with tennis courts or whatever, etc)theres a lot they could do, i just hope they understand that they'd be fucking up if they just shipped NH 2 with slightly more content and slightly better QOL
>>723443030does that npc ever show up in the mainline games
The first gen of Animal Crossing was directed by Hisashi Nogami and Katsuya Eguchi, the later being a man who was homesick after moving to Tokio and wanted to recreate the feeling of being at home with his family and friends while also playing with the idea of how their lives would keep going even if he wasn't present to see them, which resulted in the pseudo-multiplayer aspects of the game, with players seeing the effects of the things other players did despite not being able to interact with them directly. WW and CF kept these original intentions to some degree, but with the introduction of true multiplayer modes and an increased focus on player-to-player interaction, the idea of making interactions with NPCs feel natural to maintain the feeling of having an alive town became less relevant. The newer games (NL and NH), however, were directed by Aya Kyogoku, a woman who fell in love with the villager/furniture collection and town customization aspects of the original games and decided to expand on them and introduce more ways to achieve these goals. That's why they feel radically different than the previous games. The games went from being about living in a town to building and managing it, and the characters became more like toys that you collect and use to decorate the town and less like inhabitants with their own lives as originally conceived by Eguchi.
I want the GCN game on NSObut I'm worried the entrannification of the fanbase brought on by New Horizons will keep them from adding it because people think it's too mean and there's no (real) skin color options.
>>723440305I'm so sad, for some reason a few years ago I deleted my Wild Worlds and my New Leaf savegames, I think because I didn't like the name my characters had or something stupid. I wish I had my old saves back man.
>>723441720Animal Crossing has always belonged to trans girls, sister
>>723441720Same, you can also never have an animal crossing thread without both of those groups spamming their shit all over it
>>723442979I always wondered how kids without parents or who has lost them feels about stuff like this in games, must suck for something that's supposed to be cute
>>723440256no but I might once there's a decomp port
>>723456654Another game franchise ruined by women.
