I'm not sure why people are treating ZA vs Time Stranger as this big thing. They had the unfortunate timing of releasing at the same time as each other but if anything Time Stranger looks more like SMT to me. It's not really comparable to Pokemon and the only reason people are doing so is because it has "mon" in the name.That said, Digimon games seem to get bizarrely low reviews for how good they are. Like everyone I've heard who actually plays them has nothing bad to say about them, meanwhile every other Pokemon player you encounter is going to tell you about the slowdown or the bad graphics because it's gotten so obvious that even the average person is starting to notice.
