Why aren't 6 button controllers standard?
>>723453507Microsoft tried.
>>723453558That's their cucked model. Post the good one.
Because there's no suitable in-between zone.Games are either deserving of complexity that requires a keyboard and mouse, or none at all in which 4 buttons is sufficient
>>723453507Because dual analog took off and it's a gimmick that prevents you from using face buttons in a poorly designed game, so it wouldn't matter how many face buttons you had.
It's cheating controllers can't do this.
>>723453606based. fuck dual analog. the only games that use it are meant to be played with kbm. for 90℅ of games arcade stick is better
>>723453743fps are cringe though
>>723453743yeah they canmaybe not xbox though
>>723453558>>723453602They're both pretty good but they at least felt SOLID. Like if someone tried to rob my house while I'm playing kung fu fighting at 2am I am certain I could have painted my bedroom with their brains.
>>723453743Is he having fun?
>>723453743>>723453603>>723453893lol
>>723453507Unironically too complex for an average consolefag.
Because a comfortable placement of the second analog stick and a six button layout that follows the natural range of the thumb don't work well together, least of all in the current era where controllers are just variations of two designs only distinguished by analog placement. If we had some professional design pouring money into bringing the Saturn controller into the 21st century, we might get something, but people are pretty locked in at this point.
>>723453952If you tried to move this at the speed this kid >>723453743is moving the mouse, you'd break your fucking monitor.
>>723453507Why weren't back paddles adopted earlier? Did NO ONE think that they could've added more buttons on the back?
>>723454275Patent trolls Same reason Valve stopped making controllers
It's easy to press the wrong button. Keep things simple.
>>723453743is he playing the game or is the game is playing him?
>>723454275If you want to have more inputs, then you don't waste fingers on holding the controller, so you hold the controller on your lap or some other surface, so you use a mouse/keyboard combo or a flight stick. The current trend of back buttons is mostly being championed by baby ducks that don't want to give up their Xbawks controllers and Dualshocks, but still want to play games that aren't suited to those controllers. This is why it comes into conflict with the Ironburg patent that specifically applies to those babyduck layouts..
Because literally nothing but fighting games and other arcade ports use six-button layouts. The closest you will ever get to mainstream six-button adoption is the N64 controller, of which four buttons were generally used in place of a right analog stick (camera controls) while A and B were the main action buttons. For games that aren't fighting games or arcade ports, four face buttons and shoulders is more than sufficient, including even still, y'know, fighting games, where HP or HK is often bound to L or R instead as a compromise.
>>723453507They are if you play fightans ritualistically and don't like fightsticks.
Too many buttons
>>723453558this is the most confy controller I have ever held, I missed that old fucker
