This is my game idea: Shinji is a time looper since he attained godlike powers during instrumentality. New game is the tutorial phase, follows the original TV series. Each loop is a NG+ with new possible ending. Angels also time loops, so they get stronger and react to Shinji/Nerv. ALA edge of tomorrow style. The whole premise of the series (~coming of age/coming to terms with reality as a young person story in a sci-fi world with religious symbolism, as well as the whole "global peace vs individuality") reminded me of Childhood's End. It is unfortunate that people only talk about other anime/manga that have influenced EVA, but not other works, particularly western literature.
