The biggest weakness this series has is jumbling playable characters, just give me a set party from the beginning of the game all the way till the end, it's why the Crossbell games are the best in the franchise, I cant plan my party builds when I don't even know if I'll be playing as the current characters the next chapter

They get the framework of a character arc and what potential character development they could have had is instead replaced with Rean. Laura is especially a victim of this as literally not a single plot point or character quality she has goes anywhere or wraps up in any way. Remember how Laura was starting to lose her sense of her place in the world because swordmanship felt pointless when a tank crew could turn you into paste from a mile away? Remember how that is effectively solved offscreen, and Rean gets the credit for it because he somehow encouraged her to get over it by just existing?
