I want YOU to videofag for /v/ the Musical!
>What's videofagging?
https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLAX8JHUJcFR2gh_WG3YJBITuO-tODVCcJ
You make music videos for songs! You make anons laugh and immortalize your beloved songs. Any skill level is welcome. I had 0 editing experience whatsoever before I started editing for the musical. You can videofag for songs you wrote, sung, edited, or had nothing to do with!
>What's the deadline?
There's no deadline. Videofagging can be done year round. We play the year's videos on the annual stream. You can choose to do them during musical month if you want. Send a link to the YouTube to greeneanon@gmail.com when done to be added to the playlist!
>Which songs can I do?
Any. They don't have to be from this year. You can do a year II song if you want!
>How do I videofag?
Pirate a program such as DaVinci Resolve or VEGAS (https://files.catbox.moe/ypn1lk.zip). You can even use Windows Movie Maker if you want. Drop in the singer's track. (I also recommend dropping in the isolated vocals on a separate track to make timing lyrics easier if you want.) Then just add visuals! You can add gameplay footage to the beat; you can copy the existing music video and just add jokes over it; you can do a slideshow of memes; you can do glorified lyric videos; you can incorporate MMD, Blender, and other external programs; you can do anything you want. It's not hard to start downloading footage and dropping it in. You don't need to have musical or artistic skills. You don't need to be able to draw.
>A two to four minute video is intimidating.
Start with a shorter song. There are plenty of 30-60 second songs without video! You can even do DLC.
>I'm scared and don't want to do this alone.
Hit me up at veethemusical@gmail.com, and I can help with ideas, lyric or subtitle timing, editing, and troubleshooting.
>I don't wanna make a Y**T*** account.
Send me the videos, and I can upload them for you.

Anyone can time lyrics to help out! It's easy!

Options:
1. MusicBee
2. LRC generator online

Have a 2 minute video tutorial that goes over most of the below: https://files.catbox.moe/ztv61b.mp4

https://www.lrcgenerator.com/

For this particular site, you paste the lyrics into the text area then click 'Synchronize to music'.

You will be taken to a new page, in here you can load your audio track using the Audio button, and start the playback with the START button.

In order to mark which line is being sang, you need to click on the 'Next Line' button (or spacebar) as the line starts being sung (click upon hearing something, not in anticipation for consistency with others). The lyric in the text area will be highlighted white letting you know the line was tagged.

When you reach the end of the lyrics you posted, the 'Next Line' button should now be replaced with a 'Get File' button which will download the .lrc file to your PC.

Now, I just extract the content by opening the .lrc file with a text editor (even plain Notepad works) and take only the timed lyric lines alongside timestamps and paste them into a new .txt or directly into the Rentry. Some tips if you want to pretty it up:

1. Add an extra [00:00.00] timing to the start of the text, it makes the start of the song clean. See any on the sheet for an example.
2. Delete the website's advertising bit at the end, it breaks nothing to do so.
3. Listen as you time and if the singfag changed lyrics, fix it to what they sang in the text afterwards if you can. Wrong lyrics defeat the point after all.

If you have questions, feel free to reply.

aren't we talking about TDM here?
>>
>>723727862
yeah and for good reason

Vidya needed 4 arts and there weren't even 4 pure Vidya options, ENA happened to be one of the most Vidya

ENA had a game literally this year and it was genuinely good and played by a lot of people because it was free on steam

like it or not ENA is popular on 4chan. it has haters but they don't remove the people that like it

A schizo spazzing out about it unironically gave it mass attention and probably helped it win. I guarantee you dozens of people here that didn't know ENA learned more than they ever wanted to know thanks to the schizo, and awareness is a big help when it comes to getting votes

>>723728069
no they're talking about ENA. TDM is some fetish shit that has nothing to do with 4chan, the community is mostly on tumblr (coomers forced to coom to things that are sfw once the site went sfw)

Anyone engaging with the ENA song or art is just actively working against these threads. We have a hard enough time making these work without bringing in shit that's someone even more aspie than deltatroon autism. One guy wants ENA to be /v/ culture so bad he'll shit up every musical threads for hours just to keep us talking about it. He needs to let it go and also kill himself if possible.

>>723728234
the most important reason: the art isn't even /co/, it's exclusively video game ena outside of the logo in the bottom left. they both have the picasso-style design but their colors and outfits and personality and voices are completely different.

it's also just a good design, ENA's game colors work perfectly with the cover they chose to parody, and the picasso-style art in the corner is nearly identical to the picasso-style design ENA was given which is a better connection than most album arts get.

>>723728593
the game released in march, the threads don't last forever anymore because people looking to discuss it mostly did so. the fact that threads do get made means some people still care, and when more chapters of the game come out (or even just news on the next parts) you'll see threads surviving again.

/v/ isn't all of 4chan. ENA is most popular on /co/, where the threads consistently stay up when they're made. The video game design also consistently in /v/ threads like drawthreads, you don't need to specifically be getting active threads to be /v/ culture or else things like sneed would never be considered part of it.

This. Ignore the lone ENAfag. Once voting happens at his "cultural phenomenon" gets two votes from him and his phone it will all sort itself out.
>>
>>723728069
No, /v/ has frequent mascot threads. They combine multiple off-topic themes that are popular on /v/ and hated by jannies, so I'm not surpised people worked both on a song and an art this year.
However we got genuinely more relevant board culture art after TDM was uploaded, so it's not big deal whether the art was actually rigged in the poll, or if the cabal just quetly removed it.

>so I'm not surpised people worked both on a song and an art this year.
I'm not surprised nobody wanted to sing the song and nobody wanted to vote for the art either. it's an extreme niche that the rest of /v/ dislikes because it genuinely isn't vidya related.
>so it's not big deal whether the art was actually rigged in the poll, or if the cabal just quetly removed it.
if you go back to when the poll was posted it was beyond obvious it was rigged. votes were going normally and not a soul was voting for TDM, it had a single vote (probably from the rigger's main IP) while all the popular albums were going into the double digits. Then suddenly out of nowhere over 30 votes flooded into TDM in the time other things moved up 3 votes. Even more damning, after the flood it didn't get new votes for the rest of the duration of the poll. It genuinely only got rigged votes, at most generous you could say like 5 people gave it pity votes or might have if it wasn't rigged.
>>
>>723729935
It just rubs people the wrong way when one guy forces everyone to go along with their personal hyperfixation and cannot be reasoned with and will flood every thread with 300 samefag posts to get their own way.

At least two people wanted to sing it, but the original song is just too complex and requires a lot of editing. One of them uploaded an excellent take in one of the threads, but didn't finish the song.
>and nobody wanted to vote for the art either
The first screen was made very early and it only has 11 voters, give or take (because pretty much everyone voted for Back From Hack). Not very representative, considering timezones and the fact that the art was later removed from competition. I can see some rigged votes, so it wouldn't have won against more relevant board culture albums, but everything else is now irrelevant.

Pollanon here. I looked through the data at the time and I checked again now just for you. There's nothing rigged about it. ENA genuinely won the vote, albeit in a low slot. You can see in the image from: >>723730067 that it was getting real votes before the TDM/Flop rigging began. It barely changed relative position when the rigger was voting, because they exclusively voted for TDM+Flop most likely.

Pic rel is the first 10 votes in the strawpoll, all cast within a few minutes of the poll being posted. A full 7 contained Screen Girl Dream Girl. You'll probably notice these 10 votes contain the general trend on the true winners, because anons generally did agree on the ones they liked the most across all time zones.

The biggest shift that happened was just due to having 1 Industry/Platforms slot and 4 Vidya slots. "Introduction to Consolewars" started strong but "I'll Break The Oath" started extremely strong, and with people adjusting votes based on categories this eventually drained ItC into 8th place. Vidya had 4 slots so options like Doomedman and Vibri-o gained more votes over time. If there's any winner that had rigging influence, it would have been Doomedman, which I do believe genuinely won but it did come from behind a little over time.

I have the full dataset, the rigger was capable of putting in like 2.5 rigged votes per minute when they gave it their full attention but they were ALWAYS like 20 seconds apart because the rigging process they used required time. You can seethe if you'd like but you're only making yourself look salty when you claim it's rigged that an option you didn't like won when the data says the real voters genuinely did like Screen Girl, Dream Girl. If you're going to accuse something of rigging so strongly, please provide better evidence than "I don't like that it won" next time.

This particular argument is stupid because we didn't have a lot of vidya albums, and between Screen Girl and Play The Piano the former is obviously more interesting visually and memorable. ENA schizo does exist in some capacity, but ENA art won.
>>
>>723732138
One said "knowing this guy botted the win" and the other sarcastically said "oh well at least they all showed up in time to vote here fair and square."

They're obviously claiming it was rigged and if there's a reason other than them not liking it, they failed to provide one.

Why are we letting the ena fanboy ruin another thread

>>
>>723731815
>11 voters, give or take (because pretty much everyone voted for Back From Hack)
It's like 15, aka 20% of the total voting pool.
>Not very representative
That's extremely representative, shifts happen but we don't get thousands of votes. A sample size of 15 voters will almost always show the final winners in the top bracket. If something gets 1 or 2 votes when a dozen are getting 6+ votes, it's incredibly unlikely to come back from that. Possible, maybe, but I can't recall a year where it actually happened.
>and the fact that the art was later removed from competition
It was in the 1st poll the entire duration and you were strongly urged to vote with your true votes several times, yet it gained essentially nothing after the spurt of rigged votes. It was never going to win, you can say that confidently from the first 15 votes where it got a single vote (from me).

It's really funny to see you so aggressively whining. You can just admit you know it wasn't rigged but have no better way to lash out than to insist the person proving proof it wasn't rigged is in the wrong for daring to point out that you didn't have a valid reason to claim it was rigged.
>>
>>723732630
>I've been here all month and I still have no clue what the art depicts
Not relevant. I didn't know that some obscure music game from 2000 about a badly drawn rabbit even exists, but I just asked the artist which game his art parodies and now Vibri-O is easily my favorite art this year.
>>
>>723732774

It's relevant when the winner is decided by poll and it lost. You just said yourself an art became your favorite only after you found out what the topic was. Play The Piano might have been in that slot instead if it was clear to the average voter what the art depicted.

The easiest fix is to just replace the intro and outro with the original track, this works if there's no vocals there.

Where the fuck do I put timed lyrics to avoid further confusion? Or is it both?
Oh well at least I replaced the unfished version of timed lyrics for Wings of Assholery on finished
>>
>>723733619
it should be both, I always put mine on both for this reason. it wouldn't hurt for someone to do a pass and make them the same, most should be on both already because I timed like 70% of them myself.
>>
>>723733619
IMO pick a song to time by looking at the album order tab to pick an empty one, then when you grab the lyrics from Finished tab you can glance to make sure it doesn't already have a timing there either. If it does have one, copy it over to album order instead of timing it again.

You don't need it, what that does is make it so the last line stops highlighting at that time. So if there's a long instrumental bit at the end it looks nice to do it.

Some people put those at the start of instrumental breaks in general, like if you notice a 30 second gap between 2 lines you can put a blank line 5 seconds after the 1st one so it clears and no lyrics are highlighted for the instrumental section, but again it's very much not needed and more of a fancy polish choice.

>>
>>723737364
yeah. here's someone who's not particularly gifted in art finding an easy album job to try parodying and put in the ring for fun even though im sure even he knows its pretty lazy. i like it for what it is
>>
>>723737802
I wouldn't go out of the way to time dlc unless we're sure we can finish the albums early, there's still several albums of songs left to time and the compiling has to happen pretty soon since the stream is this week
>>
>>723738083
It's one of the rare cases where a lazy swap is mildly funny. But we have a good number of gifted artists, so lazy covers are only used in song arts.
>>
>>723737946
thoughts on suggesting compiler runs the whole song set through something like MP3Gain to get the songs around the same loudness before compiling? there's always some very quiet and very loud ones and I end up running them through MP3Gain on my own copy, unsure if that adds noise because it claims to be lossless, but it lets me not adjust volume every few songs.
>>
>>723738083
I jjust don't think a colorswap on a single object that is not related to /v/ counts as a parody. what does the fuzzy ball represent? nothing? imo a lazy parody would at least have made it a stolen image of Anon's green head or something, it's just avenue Q but green.

think there's some way the "INTRODUCTION TO CONSOLE WAR" album art could be turned into art for one of the songs? would be a shame to let the drawfag's hard work go to waste after those weird rigging shenanigans over the weekend
>>
>>723738818
we probably will have time for dlc then, I've barely started timing today and I'll probably get at least a dozen as well.
>>
>>723738961
this sort of thing is suggested every year and iirc that's just not how it works. if you enter a song for an album art slot, you can't just swap it to something else after or reuse it next year, it had a chance and /v/ decided not to use it.

if we allow it to be swapped then every year we'll be flooded by song arts that say "I'm gonna be ambitious, this is actually just for my X song but I'm submitting it for album art because there's no downside and if it loses I just put it back on the song". You gotta put your nuts on the table if you want to kill other anon's art to get yours on the albums, it's kill or be killed.
>>
>>723738961
i mean if they wanna repurpose it for a song with new text on top there's not harm in that, more single art is just a net plus
>>
>>723738961
Historically the answer has always been no.
Also, the rigging is completely disconnected from that art, I did not see a single person shit talk the art in the thread when it happened. It would have lost without the rigging too.
>>
>>723739309
there are 2 sources of harm long-term.
1.It means the album art poll is not actually an album art poll anymore and just a "try to get your song art a better position" poll
2. It means every year people will rush to fit the album poll options on songs that probably don't fit them well anyway, because nobody wants their art to go to waste.

The last 100 losers took it with grace, Introduction To Consolewars can too.

if a song really fits a particular album i think that can be arranged despite the position it got on the poll
>>
>>723739750
>>723739830
Of course, you are 100% allowed to run anything for album art, it's just dead if you lose and can't go back after. They actually specifically made a 2nd joke art for Clone High for the Clone High song because they knew it couldn't go back if my memory serves me.
You're even allowed to draw something for album art and say "I change my mind, make this song art", but it's important that it's only done BEFORE the polls. Once you enter the polls you've signed the blood contract, you win or you die.
>>
>>723739937
>>723739774

That's why the Chicken Jockey song got my vote, it looks like Janitor Guy will open album 1 and Chicken Jockey will open album 7 at this rate. both make perfect sense there imo.
>>
>>723740156
of course yeah, we can assign them however the thread and organizers want when they win. that goes for album order too, nobody suggested anything different when the pollster gave an order and asked for other suggestions so we just went with that one but if there's a good reason to change that we still can.
>>
>>723740297
Speaking of which how is song order thought out? As in, what song goes on which album and so on?
>>
>>723740435
Well some are obvious, like there's 1 album of Industry+Platoforms songs so they all go on the 1 album for that. Past that, we collectively decide. For threads now people have made specific suggestions like "put a sharty song after a chicken jockey song for the joke" or "put the evil women songs together".

We do have some organizers that actually know what they're doing somewhat when it comes to making an album actually flow well instead of just be songs shoved in a random order, so a lot of the work is done by them.
>>
>>723740435
I assume they go according to vidya/bc/industry tags first, songs by same singer get spread apart further from each other, and then it gets sorted so it flows better (as in no two long songs in a row/right at the beginning of the album, better transitions between songs etc.)
>>
>>723740659
Pretty much this yes. Once we have Openers and art locked in then the rest of the albums get organized by the guys that know how to make things flow well, and they keep this shit in mind, and then the thread still has a few days to say "hey X could be better, let's change it".

The album order sheet isn't even locked iirc, literally any of you can make changes if you have a valid reason to.
>>
>>723740659
basically, yeah. i also like to keep an eye out for general energy levels so we don't get sections of songs that are too sleepy, exhaustingly upbeat or just not enough variation. missed out on most of the streams in year 6 but i remember disc 2 being dubbed the downer album and disc 4 being the dudes with guitars album.
>>
>>723741028
so is the idea to have variation or rather than an album with a feel? avoiding having all rock/punk songs in one album so that even people who are not fans can still enjoy, right?
>>
>>723741121
Yes. A good rule of thumb is Fast song > Faster song > Calm song > Repeat for good pacing.
>>
>>723741121

the lines would become too long to fit on one line, like pic rel but much worse
it'll make it harder to keep track because you won't be able to just read line to line, which is a problem since the whole point of timed lyrics is it lets you keep track of the song lyrics as they go

mention the specifics when the "final order" is put together. or mention it now, suggestions should be welcome
>>
>>723755208
yeah if you sing a lot of industry we can't help that since it only gets 1 album. you're supposed to tell us if they're too close though, that's what organizing is for and we don't have time to attentively listen to the dozen hours of audio over and over to adjust each time the previous adjustments shuffle them.
>>
>>723755208
Actually call out the songs or write about them in the temp album order sheet so the organizer knows, same happened to me, I think this might be the only situation where namefagging ends up being useful
Still, order is not yet set in stone and everything might and will change
>>

Most of the album is fairly spaced out, but the two that are next to each other are Pirate Software's Idiocy and 80 Bucks Give No Fucks.

On another note Never Pay Games wasn't labeled industry yet it is in the industry album. Any reason why it was moved there?
>>
>>723755682
thanks, replaced that on the sheet
I end up timing most myself and I have no clue what most of the original ones I didn't write or sing sound like, so if you sing or write it's always a good idea to time your own to check if you want to edit it :)

>Most of the album is fairly spaced out, but the two that are next to each other are Pirate Software's Idiocy and 80 Bucks Give No Fucks.
this is not very helpful because you didn't tell us what the other 2 are. there's probably like a 20% chance that when I move one it just ends up right next to another of yours.

>On another note Never Pay Games wasn't labeled industry yet it is in the industry album. Any reason why it was moved there?
making the albums roughly equal length comes before perfect sorting, and piracy is roughly related to the industry so it got moved over a song about a 4chan meme or video game.

>>

>On another note Never Pay Games wasn't labeled industry yet it is in the industry album. Any reason why it was moved there?
I dunno how far the sorter is but I could see Oldest Xbox Known To Man swapped with that if it wants to be in a vidya album, it's kinda a platforms song
>>

what a canondrum. i have a bunch of anons that go by anon tagged but not everyone obviously. would be useful if we had namefags for everyone but then you'd never be able to shake it.

December and Lose Control are the same singer.

you see, it's a subtle joke about there being 2 singers for the song planned from the start /s
>>
>>723758658
/s ?
>>
>>723758806
for the kids in the audience, /s is a tone marker denoting sarcasm, or an untrue statement for humor. the joke is that until the death battle the song only had one singer on each recording, but through the duet a new joke emerges from the lyrics.
>>
>>723756176
The other two songs I sang that are currently on the industry album are A Dev Song (I sang that with Jebus) and Never Pay For Games .

and now when it comes on you switch 2 a better song lmao
>>
>>723756974
maybe a system that could work is anon singers picking a number, like anon456, anon322 and then all those generic names get tagged as anon after the sorting
>>
>>723758996
don't forget we used to consistently use IRC in the past, tone markers are part of the musical generation's toolkit. we didn't have your newfangled discords and emojis.
>>
>>723759187

>>723759078
i'm not complaining about it, was just surprised. i'm not that much of a newfag but also never got around to using IRCs so i didnt know
>>
>>723759373
in earlier years IRC is where the cabal and the cool kids hung out during the musical. we did a drugs there too sometimes
>>
>>723759428
and now the cabal is mostly gone and hangs out on the discord instead?
>>
>>723759543
the discord isn't really a cabal since you can just see who is who when you walk in
and it's half dead anyway, the guy that ran it last year quit and the people than "own" it now don't participate in the musical (and don't use the server either)
its a useful place to get some feedback or talk about shit like how to deal with a schizo or bring up things that the thread isn't ready to hear yet
>>
>>723759543
the only thing I've seen that was notable in the discord was people posting their cat pictures

The Album Opener Poll >>723719851 is officially closed! I'll include my placement suggestions, mostly based on what people in the thread have suggested before. Feel free to bring it up if you think any have a better fit when swapped. The results are...

Board Culture (2 winners):
Janitor Guy (BC 1, Back From Hack)
Chicken Jockey (Said Jack Black) (BC 2, Jockey)

Vidya (4 winners):
Driving in Straight Lines (VIdya 1, The Ayy Rivals)
Kane-ilingus (Vidya 3, Doomedman)
Queen For A Day (Vidya 4, Screen Girl Dream Girl)
Grinderella (Vidya 2, Vibri-O)

Industry/Platforms (1 winner):
Claim Free (Industry/Platforms, I'll Break The Oath)

Congrats to the winners! With the lower overall vote counts and consistent trends it seems these polls were free from rigging. These should be the final polls of the year outside of spur of the moment choices. I'll place and highlight the winners in the sheet now. It's a great time to dig through the sheet and catch any last minute songs that are missing, at this point likely only DLC files like demos and songs without enough vocals to finish them.

this and more shit posts should be recorded to be like radio bumpers between songs. We actually need to start doing radio commercials and shit so the albums play almost like a GTA radio channel. This is a good idea and I can't believe I just now thought of it and no one ever proposed it before. You can still get the song only versions but the stream can be like a single long play complete with like jet grind radio tuning between stations.

SURPRISE POLL

The writer for "Switches" had a falseflagger the other day in the thread. For fairness, we want to run a poll on which version of the song gets used between the duet and other 2 options. 24 hours, vote on your preference, the winner gets the main album slot. This is a strawpoll poll so if there's rigging this time it should be much easier to catch and present, just vote how you feel.

There's been no closer suggestions for Industry. Moving 80 bucks changed the pacing after Pirate Software, and Game Awards also works as a closer imo. Of course open to suggestions, that's why I post these in the thread instead of just forcing my view.

Okay, it's pretty obvious the new Switches polls is also being rigfagged- within 15 minutes a poll that was dormant gets a vote tying it up again

The facts:
>On Monday around 7:30 EST I cast my vote when Anonika's version was two votes up.
>Later in the day, rigging became obvious
>We agreed on a duet to defeat the rigging
>Some new poll gets created in an attempt to get a true answer
>that also gets rigged.

I think the best solution for all around is to go with the duet, unless we think we can divine a true answer from this crap.

Use a little critical thinking. If someone only cares about hearing the funny toad voice so they vote on both that include it, that's 2 votes from 1 person. We saw the same thing with the album opener poll this very thread, the Vidya poll had way more votes than people because with 4 winners there's especially good reason to vote for multiple.
>>723794326
It's not really voting "multiple times", it's being able to select multiple options on your single vote.
>>
>>723801607
but it's winning anon, idk if it's rigged or not but it's 1 vote in the lead
>>
>>723796960
Are you guys not reading the text? It's a strawpoll so the pollster can see data on each vote. Just vote on the one you actually want to win and the rigged ones can be filtered out. Spite votes only make it harder to tell what people actually want to win as well.
>>
>>723801808
It's impossible for you to say that until the pollster confirms it, because the last poll on this song also had rigging.

Stop being dumb and just read the instructions on the poll post. Vote on the one you want to win honestly and wait for the results to be confirmed instead of making assumptions based on possibly rigged current results.
>>
>>723802194
(NTA)

It's pretty obvious that any poll we run will have rigging. It happens in literally every poll. The question is how much.
>>
>>723801982
Yeah spite votes are worse than rigged votes. All it means is that the rigger has to switch to baiting gullible retards into spite voting for them.
>>
>>723802950
but spitefagging is a legitimate vote, even if it's stupid. so It's all a social manipulation.
>>
>>723802921
It depends really. The album opener BC poll for example, it was discussed many times why janitor guy was a perfect opener so it getting a ton of votes is only logical. Chicken jockey song was a perfect fit for the chicken jockey album and the meme is genuinely popular, so I'm also not surprised it won. Rigging really couldn't have changed those results at all imo, because the important part isn't the margins those 2 won but the fact that literally none of the other options got a significant amount of votes. Do we think a rigger is sitting there going "hmm yes let me get Janitor Guy from 15 to 20 votes so the thing at 5 votes will continue to lose"? Or that a rigger is going to rig something up to 5 votes and then give up?

When someone is doing significant rigging like doing 5 votes for only Flop within 2 minutes in a poll where the vast majority of legit voters will select 3-10 options, it's not hard to filter that out when using strawpoll. So the best thing you can do as a voter is vote honestly so that even if it's rigged, the rigger has to show more of their hand and make it more obvious they are rigging when the results get looked at.
>>
>>723803030
Yeah which is why only gullible retards do spite votes. They are not intelligent enough to understand the concept of a vote.
>>
Hello, thread! Been away for couple of days.

>>723719703
First of all, i wanted to say that i really adore that Vibri-O album art and i'm happy that it won, it's awesome.
Also i feel sorry about "Introduction to console wars" album art, i like when artists come back from year to year and draw album arts in their own style. ( i assume that black PS5 girl-album cover art from previous year and this one share the same artist).
Also it's kinda sad that red-black album cover artist didn't come that year...

About songs:
Anon who edited my version of Uninstalled the Game - you saved it, thank you. I've been listening it on repeat for 4-5 times, i've been so amused holy i love it. Yes, it didn't win, yet i thank all anons who voted for me.

At the same time - thank you, anons, who voted for Claim Free song! It's such a great honor to be an opener at the album.

In general, thanks to all editfags who edit my songs, i'm really thankful that someone does that stupid fucking audiomixing shit instead of me, and does it good with the source material he's got!

>>723798348
It's great. Couple of weeks before i aimed to sing that song but i procrastinated, yet i think that the current singer did it better than i could ever do.
SO, when i've heard the final version, i felt embarassed, i felt that there's something wrong with shift and how voice goes along with the music. Now, with that renewed version, i feel alright.

Tbh I feel less bad about introduction to consolewars if it's the same artist that won with ps5tan last year. We don't need ps5tan art every year just because a good artist likes that character, /v/ has much more to offer and we only get 1 platforms album that has to be shared with industry half the time. If this year was critically important for her to get art then she should have been saved last year when it was just a "no games" joke.

Reverb sounds better downloaded instead of previewed through Kraken since it crushes bitrate, making it sound darker. The original song has large hall reverb as well.

This whole “clean version for DLC” thing is getting out of hand. It’s bloating the fuck out of the albums even more than the multiple lyric versions of songs are.

I don't know anything about that song but...
>This whole “clean version for DLC” thing is getting out of hand. It’s bloating the fuck out of the albums
the whole point of the DLC is that it's not an album and doesn't bloat them. We had at least 97 DLC audio files in year VI, 91 in VII, I think we even passed 100 for X. We have like 30 for this year, it's not gonna kill us to add a few more if they're ones people actually want to have.

>First of all, i wanted to say that i really adore that Vibri-O album art and i'm happy that it won
same for sure, it's always cool to see a female vidya rep that isn't samus or peach or a -tan.

I feel the opposite really, I love seeing artists come back but I love variety in albums more. Black-red dude had 3 similar covers in a row, it's ok to pass the torch on to new artists in a project that is meant to represent all of /v/ with so few slots, so I'm lowkey glad he didn't submit something similar. If he comes back next year I'll probably vote for him again but it's good to have variety.
Same with the -tan art from that artist, we had -tan art the last 2 years in a row, and I assume it's the same artist too because even Die Spiel-Maschine from 2 years ago has the exact same scratchy style. Don't get me wrong I love the art but when we only get a single Industry/Platforms slot, it going to the same person drawing on the same topic feels wrong. I am delighted it goes to a Molyneux art because he's the exact sort of figure /v/tm was made to mock and it shocks me it wasn't done sooner. That's an artist we see a lot too, but the topic is a fresh one and that is awesome. I want to write a Molyneux song next year.

>thank you, anons, who voted for Claim Free song! It's such a great honor to be an opener at the album.
It's a really strong song, I love the emotion in it because it's exactly what it needs. Good job on it.

>>
>>723811703
if we have a situation like this again with the edit tab, the main things are
>line up the vocals to the instrumental
any autist with determination can do this in audacity, and even if it's the only part you help with, it would make an editors job a lot easier
>fix peaks, bring up quiet parts
>little bit of reverb. maybe delay
>multiple tracks? pan some(left right shenanigans)
anything else I either don't know or don't care about frankly. would love to hear suggestions
>>
>>723812438
there's 3 additional steps. between lining up the vocals and fixing peaks, some reverb could be added. after adding delay, try reverb as well. after last minute adjusting like panning, try adding some reverb to really give it a full sound.
>>
>>723812567
sometimes youtube has inferior instrumentals, especially anything acquired with UVR. best to reverb that too
>>
>>723812779
Let us not forget that reverb is essentially just a fancy, usually longer delay
So instead of delay you can use a short reverb
>>

the polls are all done except for last minute minor polls like >>723775024 which is active. the stream is in 4 days, and the flac mega should be up within a couple days of it. mp3 mega depends on if the cabal has time to make one soon or not.
>>
>>723814646
i made the mp3s last year. but i don't think i'll be able to this year at least not so soon
>>
>>723810382
Were the vocals every posted publicly? There's just a demo on the sheet.
>>
>>723815080
yeah that's probably why it is what it is. we don't really have alternatives unless they show up, we can't UVR the vocals out if they're this buried. so the choice is to keep the editor's special or DLC it. If they submitted it with a big "don't use this" tag then they're hopefully fine with it on the album is my guess.
>>
>>723814646
mp3 delay won't happen again
>>
>>723815080

>>
>>723815063
mp3s are no sweat really. I could do it in like an hour depending how fast reencoding is just by scripting it. not sure how confident I am about being the mega host but I could just catbox it and someone else can host
>>
from now on it is illegal to make fun of a track by comparing it to controller, you must refer to it simply as an "Editor's Special".
>>
>>723815949
when i did it i wasn't the host, someone else opened the mega and i put it there. I also had no idea how to batch convert so that took me a while, not to mention the stupid fucking daily transfer limit on mega. So that also extended it a bunch.

>>
>>723816290
>>723798348
are you the original editor? it already had 2 mixes and it was a death battle, replacing the one people voted for with another one that sounds completely different post-death battle feels wrong.

should we just do another poll for it?
>>
>>723816646
I mean we probably have the time
>>
>>723816713
time is a terrible thing to waste. a newly timed version on a new poll means having to retime the lyrics and replace the compiler files ect ect. it can be done but I guess the question is why a completely different mix now instead of in time for the death battle the song already had.
>>
>>723816351
I'm gonna do the mp3s I just fucked up last year
>>
>>723816646
I approve of this new edit, it's clearly better than mine. I wasn't familiar with the song and the singer's timings were off, so it was hard to do it justice. Though I think the rage should be a bit louder.
t. original editor
>>
>>723816846
The original edits were totally mistimed and someone mentioned it in a previous thread. However, the complaint was ignored. I second another death battle.
>>
If we're going to take the time to do the entire DB again we should at least make the new one an ultimate version.

I would at least lower the reverb/the volume of the reverb. The original had reverb but not nearly that much. Just listen to the first second of both songs.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YuKfiH0Scao
https://krakenfiles.com/view/qleneI2Tpr/file.html

It wouldn't hurt to up the volume on the bonuses either. Maybe even add more bonuses, the fun version fit more in and they're great. I don't see why it has to be a trade-off between correct timing and more fun when the poll showed people very clearly liked the fun version.
>>
>>723817103
>I wasn't familiar with the song and the singer's timings were off, so it was hard to do it justice.

if you have feedback it won't hurt to give it. even just "i think it's perfect" is fine.
>>
>>723818238
everyone seemed pretty on board with what we have so i'm taking a first look at BC1+2 tonight. anything catch your eye on Oath?

I don't see the point in death battling a timed song vs a mistimed song. just make the timed version better than the mistimed one and we'll swap it. If anyone seriously wants to argue that they would intentionally vote for a mistimed version knowing it is mistimed, and they think it has any reasonable chance to win, they can let me know and we can look at a DB.
>>
I'm a little concerned about doing death battles repeatedly as precedent. Even if its to stop rigging, even if its to provide something better. We already don't let people sing past deadline even if their song might have made the Musical better that year.
>>
>>723818748
we only did a single redo on a death battle and it was because someone falseflagged as the writer in the thread, not because a new mix came. replacing files if there was something wrong with an old one (like mistiming) is not new, but I agree we don't need to waste our time on a death battle for it. either a new one is a fix, or it isn't.

I don't want to spoil myself on every song so I only listened to the a bit of each one to check the pacing and genre, it seems well spread out, so I like it.
>>
>>723818238
I had to stop sorting to go to work. If you've got suggestions please keep them coming.
>>
>>723819101
the protip is to just use the finished tab to preview the original song instead of the musical version if you don't want to spoil our versions. it won't catch the same singer back to back but that's the singer's jobs.
>>
>>723818748
as long as they aren't still going 48 hours before stream day I don't care. better to use the time we have than to not do something
>>
>>723819530
when necessary I mean, obviously we don't need polls for untimed vs untimed edits when it's clear.. for the ear
>>
>>723818952
>someone falseflagged as the writer
in what way? I missed the drama.
>>
>>723819650
I think the reason people are nitpicking here is that the timed version isn't just a better version. the reverb makes it sound worse and the fun is significantly reduced in volume and quantity. I second the other anon that we need an "ultimate version" that actually fixes things instead of doing tradeoffs.

>>723819676
there wasn't really much drama. someone just lied and said they were the writer and were cool with a duet replacing the poll results basically.
>>
>>723819832
If >>723798348 posts the fixed vocals raw I can drop them into my old mix project, if people liked that mixing better.
>>
>>723820036
I don't really care who fixes it or how, if it's timed right and the volume/fx aren't distracting it's good enough
>>
>>723820036
that sounds ideal

I just saw this!
Thanks to the artist that did it, although I still want to try drawing it with the Druid.

Do we need another Balance.jpeg situation
>>
>>723820905
yeah imo just draw art for a different song, that's already a very good art.
>>
>>723820905
>>723821015
Oh, I'm not actually going to try to invoke a death battle over song art, I just meant drawing it for myself on my own time. The original album cover looks like this and I just thought it would be perfect to make it the Druid instead.

It's still got some major issues with vocals burying other vocals, but at least this one doesn't hurt my ears.

NPC has the text "timed lyrics" without a link. did somebody time it and didn't post the link properly?
