>blocking doesn't prevent all damage, so you're guaranteed to get whittled down over time without mods
>enemies (and players) trigger killcam executions the instant they start a swing, so against high level two-hander wielding bandit chiefs there's literally no counterplay without stealth archery (hence the meme) or, if you want to play pure melee, slow time shouts you don't get til over 15 hours in, or cheesing armorer to raise armor values
>dual wielding prevents any kind of damage mitigation and is not much faster than one handed so there's no point there either - dual wielding power attacks are strong but from level 1 you can't do them reliably or often enough to warrant it
>big two handers don't do double damage, more like ~1.4x what a faster single handed weapon would do, meanwhile stealth daggering or stealth archering can hit like 20x as hard
>very little support for stealth mage playstyle in terms of gear, unmodded you have to get illusion pretty high to not be detected on cast, and there's no sneak attack damage multiplier, so no point other than maxxing conjuration and not playing the game yourself
>hotkeys for going warrior/mage fucking suck because of the hands system, i.e. if running sword and board and picking a healing spell, you can't pick if you want sword and heal, or heal and shield, so it's a massive headache, you basically must pause time and go into the menu instead which kills the momentum and enjoyment
>level 1 with base stats, skills, and iron sword with 100,000 health potions can clear 100% of content, level 100+ with maxed out shit, non-cheesed gear and 0 health/mana potions simply cannot clear high level dungeons
This game could be studied in introductory psychology classes for why the design fucking sucks and drives everybody into the same playstyle

Yes, that's why you go full magic so you have a variety of ways to beat enemies besides swinging a weapon or being a stealth archer (you can still do this with magic summoned weapons)

Yes, but that's what all Bethesda games are -- The most simplistic games with the most childish combat. Bethesda makes games exclusively for the most casual of casual players, the kind of player who most recently played Splatoon and Mario Odyssey. Bethesda earned every inch of the reputation that says "Their games are as wide as an ocean but as shallow as a puddle".

This completely filtered me because I wanted to play on the highest difficulty and there's a tutorial fight that was near-impossible specifically because of this mechanic. When I figured out what was happening I dropped it and haven't had the urge to pick it back up since.
