None of my friends play anymore but almost every day I add a new building or a road or adding smaller details in large builds left to rot years ago. At this point starting a new world feels like a waste of time so despite my complaints about the seed i'm stuck with I make it work regardless if I have to completely terraform a chunk to build that I want. I'm currently making a handmade desert superflat within said world for a parody replica of the LV strip. If you'd seen the seed I was stuck with you'd understand the monumental task making an artificial superflat would be. I also play on shitrock edition on console with 0 mods so I've raw dogged every second of my playtime. It started as a survival village with friends but I got ambitious about city building and never went back.

Whenever I start building a modpack, I always end up building around Dynamic Trees because I like the look and aesthetics. It makes it hard to add Fabric mods because the main mod is forge only. Shit ends up being Vanilla+ 3D Terraria-like without the NPCs because my standards are too high and I haven't found an NPC mod that's not too cluttered or has a clashing artstyle.Sometimes connected textures just doesn't end up working, sometimes Diagonal Fences just doesn't end up working. If I use connected textures then I can't use terrain slabs because the seams clash. Sometimes Dynamic Trees doesn't want to add bushy foliage leaves to the leaf blocks, if I use a bushy leaves resource pack. It's endless.

Simple mechanics allow the player to project their ideas onto the game more easily. In terms of world generation I think the game was better off with relatively simple terrain generation like late beta. Or it could have complex finite worlds generated up front like dwarf fortress (with genuine points of interest)
