What is the best gaming mouse and why is it the Logitech G502?
>>
The form just fits my hand. That's all. I like it. I'm on my sixth one, with daily usage over a decade.
>>
>>723854269
I, as well, use the Hero. (Wired, thoughbeit)
>>
This thing is a bitch to clean, my only complaint. I wash my hands regularly but it still gets gunked up.
>>
>Literally the best ergonomic gaming mouse on the market

I broke my first one playing Tf2 for over 3k hours years ago. Idk why I bothered asking logitech for any answers on self repair but they just said fuck it and sent me a new one, no fucking way that would happen now

Logitech has the double clicking issue, the sensor spin out issue, and the creaky body issue. At this point, there’s no reason to ever buy a Logitech over a Zowee or Vader if you’re going mechanical. The Deathadder/Basilisk/Viper have serious QA issues too and their software is egregiously bad.

The smaller brands are where it’s at now. Vaxee/LAMZU/Zowee/Hitscan/Ninjutso/Fantech are the way of the future but they don’t market hard so you have to purposefully find them.

I still use a CM MM730 but CM is dead.

Some Linus adjacent channel did a review of it months ago and that's why it's always sold out. It's ended up being the best selling mouse that Keychron makes and for good reason, it's the ONLY high quality ergo mouse with good specs suitable for gaming.
>>
>>723854557
I wish more mice allowed you to add weights to it, I miss the one I had that did this
>>
>>723854269
It just werks. I've had to open it to clean the scroll wheel a couple times, which is fine, but some of the softer material on the thumb wing broke off in the process. It's otherwise been running problem free for like 9 years. No double clicking, scroll wheel still rolls and catches as good as the day I got it

Do they make this without the textured rubber grips? I like the shape and size of the mouse, but those grooves accumulate oils and dead skin and are miserable to clean.
I've made it a point to only use mice without those features since they're easier to maintain.

Depends what you're using it for. I'm sure some ricer shit out there is maybe needed for CS at the pro-est of levels, but I'm currently using a 14 year old razer mat. Might switch to the hyperx pulsefire because it's large and cheap, but at the end of the day as long as the grip on top isn't terrible, you can't go wrong too much.

I use a crappy steelseries hard mouse pad that i got 12 years ago.
It's only really "crappy" in that it's small, but I don't have a lot of spare desk space so that fault isn't something that I ever consider.
The pad has lasted me for over a decade and never given me any problems, whereas a cloth pad would've worn out by now, multiple times over. I've always liked hard pads, and if I ever move or get a bigger desk, I'll be upgrading to a larger hard pad.

>>
>>723854906
None of these are real issues. Any mouse you use alot will develop double-click. 100% of plastic mouses creek. Eliminating mouse creek with metal is like metals only use case. Spin out is a pad issue. Its actually insulting you suggest logitech has an spinout problem because they're the only mouse in the market that has eliminated spin out.

Wireless is literally better than wired. The technology has progressed to a point where both wired and wireless are bottlenecked by BUS frames. Eliminating cable drag is a real thing. Cable drag adds a small degree of randomness to your aim. Before wireless mouses people used pic related to deal with cable drag.
>>
which mouse brand doesn't start double clicking after 2 years?
>>
>heavy piece of shit from logitech that gets double clicking and scroll wheel issues
no
>>723857720
They are. How is it marketing to not have a wire slightly dragging you in a direction? Retard bottom fragger.
>>723858163
History for me is that logishit has a 100% double clicking rate and every other brand has 0%.
>>
>>723857720
The difference between wired and 2.4ghz wireless today is like the difference between any Wooting keyboard and a Lemokey P1 or a Slice75 HE. 99.99% of the people on this planet aren't going to notice, not even most pros.
>>
>>723858525
Logitech.
Idk wtf people do but my G502Hero has gone through 8 years of heavy usage without doubleclicking
>>
>>723858564
There IS NO DIFFERENCE
Both wired are wireless top performance on the market right now is 125ms BUS frames. They are gated by the nature of USB. Wireless mouses can actually send HID out RF signals faster than wired can.

>>723858525
i've had my steelseries for 3 years now, not a single problem. had a logitech for a year before that and had to get rid of it.
>>
>>723854269
Mine is starting to have a problem with the mouse wheel sometimes getting rigid, probably due to dirt or something building up, but I have no idea how to disassemble this thing and I'm also afraid of just breaking it.

Genuinely this mouse is so fucking good, took me a solid week to get used to it, but I'm never going back. The only teething problem with vertical mice is learning how to passively "brace" the mouse so clicking doesn't cause it to do a little flick. You drag your little finger on the mat and use it like an anchor and it stops it happening.

I have been using this basic M110 logitech for the past 15 years and only replaced it once. But Im looking for a new mouse right now and I was always wondering how noticeable are the buttons on the sides like here >>723856516

This model interested me bc it still looks very basic (not like a fucking transformer like some other gaming mice ive seen lol) so it wouldnt be too different from my old model but Im concerned that I will constantly be aware of the buttons on the sides when gripping the mouse and maybe its even uncomfortable or annoying.

your thumb rests below the buttons with the grove that is there for that exact reason. for casual browsing of 4chan, etc. your thumb will probably lay on the back button since that's what Back is used for.

cannot imagine using any mouse in 2012+13 that doesn't have 2 side buttons, would be a huge handicap.

I have the Razer Basilisk V3
And the only only annoying as hell thing it has is that I CANNOT rest my middle finger, because it's mouse buttons go over the sides. get optical switches next time.
they don't doubleclick.
The double clicking is caused by the electrical contacts scorching over time. You see it less on office mice and wireless mice as they don't run as much voltage over the switches.
USB Gaming mice routinely run 5v (line voltage) over the switches. Wireless mice 3.7, 3 or 1.5v (Li-Ion/LiPo voltage/ 2x AA / 1x AA) and office generally use a resistor to go to ~1.2v
Gaming mice run the higher voltage since it has provably better latency that way is free to implement - but the switches don't last.

It also has a huge groove right where you might put your hand in the wired versions, so if you're palm grip maybe consider the wireless or something else entirely. Wireless version has plastic fill in the groove and it's where it lights up for RGB, on wired it's just a huge empty groove.

The ultimate mice so far
>I want the lightest mouse possible
>Zaunkoenig M3K
Made out of actual carbon fiber and light as fuck, good quality, but has a mini body style 2 clicks and a wheel and nothing else which, besides the price and long wait, is the downside

>I want the most extra buittons/features possible
>Swiftpoint Z2
Has some amazing features (pic related), great design so that all the buttons are easily reachable and identified, comprehensive software (now Linux native/compatible, buit its still something of a beta on Linux). The downside is that the cord is attached and there's no wireless option yet (maybe a later revision) and its "heavy" but still lighter than most mice in the days of adding custom weights to them.

>I want a mouse that's FOSS hardware and software customizable
>Ploopy Mouse / Trackball models
3D printed body and able to be built from a kit, Ploopy's hardware is custom but also well documented. Their mouse is a pretty conventional layout with an extra button or two and the roller bearings can be loud, but if you want control of the hardware as well as the software, its worth looking into it.

>I want something ergonomic, but gaming/power use featured
>Dygma upcoming mouse project
Dygma makes some of the best gaming/power use split ergonomic keyboards like the Raise 2 and Defy, but its an open secret they're working on a similarly high end ergo mouse project. Not yet available, but keep watching

Vertical mice require some part of your hand to be planted on the mat to stop click flicks. It's something very noticeable if you don't brace for it, especially if you're new to verticals.

I liked mine for the most part. The scroll wheel on the deathadder is total ass, but the mouse lasted about 4 years

>Wireless is literally better than wired. The technology has progressed to a point where both wired and wireless are bottlenecked by BUS frame
They're not because the batteries in wired mice degrade way too fast and you have a set amount of recharge cycles until you have to replace them or use it as a wired one anyway.

I don't know much about electrical engineering but does the entire circuit need 5v or could gaming mice just have implemented those resistors leading up to the switches while keeping the rest on higher voltage? Or couldn't the microswitch manufacturers make more suitable contacts?

I had an old razer deathadder, a v2. I really liked it and the positioning of its extra buttons, a simple but good cheap mouse. Then it eventually broke, so I dediced to buy another. The v3 and v4 deathadders have LESS FUCKING BUTTONS and are MORE EXPENSIVE than the v2. So I had to settle with a logitech g502, and I fucking hate this thing. The mouse wheel being able to unlock is useless and a waste of premium extra button space. The positions of the other extra buttons on the top and side of the mouse are awful, they are extremely awkward and uncomfortable to use. It took me forever to get used to it, and I still don't like it.

>G502
>the mouse that was never good because it's heavy as shit and an awkward segmented shape
>made even worse with nu-Logitech's nonexistent QC and catastrophic decline in material quality
>they even removed the paracord
The only Logitech mouse worth the effort is the Ultralight, and even then it's very fragile and will die on you.
Just get a cheap Chinese wireless mouse at 40-50 grams, it's a solved issue.
>>
>>723876647
>couldn't the microswitch manufacturers make more suitable contacts
Yes, but money and feel.
thicker contacts have different feel.

>does the entire circuit need 5v or could gaming mice just have implemented those resistors leading up to the switches
5v is faster than the resistor, it's damaging but consider a 2008 landscape where click latency on mice was still a big deal (on any competent mouse it's basically solved now) and everyone was competing - that's how we got to where we are, even though the USB transceivers added more latency than killing switches over time.
>>
>>723886797
G502X is light though and has optical switches.
The problem is it's not comfortable long term.
>>
>>723858724
It's random. I had my old model 502 with the rusty wheel for God knows how many years and the only thing that ever double clicked was M4 but that's trivially fixed with AHK. I only got a new one because all the rubber eventually peeled off. The new model 502 had double clicking issues after two months. I replaced that one, and now it's been fine for years.
Modern gaming hardware is basically gacha. I had the same shit with the SeXbox pad, I had to replace it like three or four times until I got one that didn't have any issues 2m-1y in.
