Broke: buying a gaming headset
Woke: buying a pair of "audiophile" headphones
Bespoke: buying a pair of IEM's for $30 that outperforms most $150 headphones
>>
Cope: believing that stupid shit you just said
>>
>>723856485
if it was up your ass you’d know
>>
i don't think its that heathly to create an air pocket in your ear like that
>>
>>723856485
now turn up the volume to 500% like every other retard and then you can make your sob story weekly thread about having self-inflicted tinnitus
>>

headset makes my ears sweaty and get blackheads on my earlobes, earbuds are cleaner and dont trap moisture
>>
>>723856485
-Poor audio quality
-unhygenic
-wireless means you're a faggot and even worse audio quality
-bluetooth radiation directly into your skull through the ear canal

For me its a $20 pair of headphones from a midrange brand because it's not like I'm using them to fucking mix music or work on professional sound editing (which is done with actual speakers anyway)
>>
I just use speakers

They have a hole to prevent that
The real problem is they dilate your earpussy and every few years you have to go up a size
But its still healthier than the gamer dent
>>
IEMs are legit. /v/ is still stuck in the stone age with gaymer headsets. The bare minimum is using a chinknisium 20 dollar IEM if you need isolation and bass, otherwise you get an open-back.
>>
>>723856803
this nigga is scared of light lmao
>>
>>723856485
what about using speakers
>>
>>723856485
I don't get earphones, do you people have hearing problems or something? is it more of a personal question, like not wanting others to hear what you are playing?
I like to hear the city noises when i'm outside on the streets and the sounds of nature when i'm residing in my house near the woods.
people who wear headphones in public seem to be so deattached from reality and life alltogether, literally NPC's
>>
Baroque: Sony MDR-V6’s so weathered, the pleather has practically melted off
>>
>>723857065
I have the best sony wireless buds. How much would a superior IEM cost? I’ll admit I was scared off by the low prices, but also needed wireless

>>
>>723856935
Radio waves are considered radiation. There's a reason why every phone has a warning to not keep next to ears or head for prolonged exposure, but you're Jewish so there's no point in arguing.
>>
i use openback headphones because i want to hear the world around me. Are there open back iems?
>>
I'm literally going fucking crazy trying to figure out which headphones to buy. I want a closed back with good isolation because I'm an apartmentcuck. Are any of these good?

Don't worry, even seasoned audioniggers are fooled by price. They think $$$ = the best. You aren't paying for graphics cards. Good will sound good no matter the price. You'd be surprised to know that some chinkfi wireless IEM either match or outright surpass the expensive mainstays in the airpods and samsung shit. The chink IEMspace is hyped up because it's essentially the wild west for innovation. Get yourself something like the Salnotes Zero 2 and get an apple dongle or some other cheapo fuck for a clean source if your mobo is old as shit. It'll blow your mind how good things can sound for how cheap it is.

did you guys know $30 headphones outperform $4600 stax chinese electrostatics in every test it is possible to do. chinks are so funny

the only expensive headphones that are really good are the old-design sennheisers like HD600, HD800S
>>
>>723857385
Fiio FT1 (Good bass, high highs.)
HD620s (neutral - may sound boring at first if you're coming from niggerbass shit)
MDR-M1 (The middle ground. Hipster cred because they have 0 hype.)

Narrow it down to these. Then do your own research again.
>>
>>723858082
Filo FT1 cord apparently has bad microphonics issues, and replacing that dual split cable seems like a fucking hassle

MDR M1 apparently has more bass than the 620s, wish I knew how good isolation and comfort were

oh hey i used those superlux, wasn't the reason for them being so cheap and good because the company took over some high quality headphones manufacturing plant and just put essentially what are 300 dollar headphones into a flimsy 10 dollar case that breaks if you pick them up wrong?
they lasted me about 3 years before falling apart but they really are great for their money
>>
>>723858731
iems are and have only ever been for bands on stage so they can hear each other's voices and instruments over all the other noise.
>>
I wear my earbuds a bit loose because I like still hearing a bit of the outside world. Used to have some super comfy iems with wires that go around the ears that let me do that without worrying that they'll fall out. Then they stopped making them so now I just use regular wireless earbuds.
I have a jabra headset for work and they hurt my ears so I'm put off headphones by that.

i had superlux 668bs that i modded with removable cable and they were seriously godlike

not comfortable, but audio-wise, amazing.

i have sennheiser HD800S now, which are $2k headphones if you buy them atm (i got them for $1000 new in an amazon pricing error) and i would say philips shp9500 and superlux hd668b sounded 90% as good in terms of locational audio. not as high resolution obviously though
>>
>been using some $15 Sony earbuds for years
>they last around a year before they start failing, then I just buy a new set

I've been considering on treating myself and buy some actual higher quality earbuds, but I have zero idea of where to start. Any brand recommendations? Or recommendations overall?

What the fuck is an audiophile? Is that like what Joe Biden is?
>>

Sennheiser HD280 is the best noise isolating headphone, it's called a "lawnmower headphone" by some. It's a bit tight around your head, straight out the box, and the coiled cable is kinda shit but I work in what used to be an old apartment building when Hitler was alive so there's zero isolation and I needed good headphones. I would accept no substitute, maybe from the same series

so tl:dr
- if you are poor but want the best bang for your buck to listen to your bassboosted cod montages: superlux hd668b
- if you want to drown out the noises of your father beating your mother for taking bbc last weekend while you were still at home while listening to linkin park: sennheiser hd280
- if you are deaf anyway and can tolerate 20kHz waves screeching at you at 120db, think bass is a fish and anything wired will strangulate you: $3 inears off teemu
- if you are retarded for no reason: random inears that cost as much or more than full on headphones

bout an ath mx50 for my pc and never had problems with it outside of changing the pads
i do have some "cheap" sony earphones when im out though
>>
>>723867918
Most are a pretty relaxed fit. They don't really grip or plug your ears like ear protection might, there's never a vacuum unless you're buying a type that specifically inserts deep. I could never do closed-ear headphones because they'd clamp so hard I'd fatigue in 4 hours tops. Open-eared were better but still fatigued around 8-10 hours. I have yet to have trouble with IEMs at 12+.

>>723868091
At high-end yes but it depends on the tuning. I personally don't like bass but a couple pairs I own do pull off some decent bass which is a little too much for me. It's all price but you can definitely get similar performance out of either.

are you aware that your entire body is sustained by billions of billions of chemical processes which can all be influenced by things you have no idea about? for example, there are various studies indicating that cellular processes in the skin are accelerated by infrared / near-infrared light, because it penetrates to the mitochondria and stimulates ATP production. so NIR therapy has been used since the nineties for treating skin wounds, burns, scars, etc.

do you sincerely think nothing in your body interacts with electromagnetic waves? there are clinical therapies which bombard the brain with EM fields in hopes of ameliorating depression, anxiety, etc.: https://www.mayoclinic.org/tests-procedures/transcranial-magnetic-stimulation/about/pac-20384625

this is just electromagnetic radiation. wow, its non-ionizing, how can it do anything?

i guess those rats in those studies just read facebook too much and placebo'd themselves into developing heart tumors after they were exposed to cell phone radios, too. feels good to be a retarded 90-IQ redditor

here's another example. doesn't this guy know that the radiation being pulsed into his head is non-ionizing???? why is it causing his muscles to contract, i was told on reddit that non-ionizing means perfectly safe and natural. our ancestors surely were exposed to EMI near our brains at all times

Half-open akm for 30 bucks and alike will sound better than what you use. I have recently upgraded to 160 bucks Sennheiser 560, which I bought refurbished, and you sense a difference. The difference isn't necessarily worth to most people, but there is a noticeable and increase in sound quality between the thirty and one-hundred-sixty headphones.

open ear under 100 dollar headphones (audio technica), with a DAC/AMP was better than the audiophile recommended 200+ headphones.

I clean them fairly regularly (like ever second week) though when I wear on ear headphones at work all day the earwax is softer from the increased temperature so maybe I just have more than most

does UV cuase ionizing in our upper atmosphere,
it releases visible light and breaks down o2
>>
>>723875885
yeah thats why the ozone is important, its a shield to reduce the energy before it hits us in the lower atmosphere. by the time it hits us it doesnt have enough power to be ionizing

I always wondered what's going on in heads of "people" holding opinions like this and other fans of a schizophrenic polak who killed few people because the water is wet.
Then I've realized, that they unironically believe that industrial revolution or technological progress in general literally violated their reproductive rights at some fundamental level.

Skullcandy earbuds only last me like 5-6 months before one of them stops working. Sony earbuds on the other hand are cheaper and last for over a year before I need to replace them.

I use IEMs when I go outside, the sound is nice, but they're definitely not as good as openback planars I use for PC. I know people who get tired of headphones, but it's not an issue for me.

Perhaps some people just enjoy high fidelity audio though? I certainly do, much in the same way I enjoy nice graphics, it compliments gameplay and overall immersion. I like casting a spell, seeing the particle effect pop out of the screen with HDR, and hearing the swoosh or shimmer with all the detailed sparkle of the treble and the rumble of the bass.

Try 5$. Even if there's a difference in sound and it's noticeable, I don't care that much.
I think ambient noise adds to the soundtrack.

Earphones, even at the same volume perception as headphones, send like 5x the audio-vibrations into your eardrums, they are the WORST thing you can possibly do to your eardrums for long-term hearing.

OP is a retarded, malicious faggot advocating for a product that is guaranteed to harm the user. Use them at the gym if you need to listen to something, that's it. Headset for anywhere else.

i use AudioTechnica m50x with USB and a mic, they're fantastic, no drivers, so you just plug them in and enjoy, great sound.

The best isolation+sound i ever got out of a headset, was a very expensive Steelseries with an amp, but they had alot of issues. I also have a big head so many brands are just too small.
>1x single, thin plastic hinge for the earcups, guaranteed to break after a few years
>sound would flip between gaming surround and high-quality stereo with heavy bass, but i could discern no reason how or why they would switch between them, and i had no control over it, the driver app was useless for diagnosing or fixing it.

forget the model though, i recommend the m50x, and you can always sell it on if you don't like it.

I also bought JBL QuantumOnes a few years back. They're fantastic, if you're an esports tryhard and need top-notch surround sound, but otherwise they're kinda average, and very expensive.
>>
>>723885601
Was leaning on audiotechnica but I want surround sound and bass, I'm not obsessed with multiplayer shooters but I want to enjoy peak audio in my vidya and quality music that teeters on audiophile. But the fucking surround, god damn it I don't want to buy razer again fffffffuuuuu
>>
>>723886256

Don't get me started on potentiometers Jesus Christ I'd rather fuck a tranny than use a headset with this shit again
>>
>>723886256
>I want surround sound and bass
you can only pick 1 anon. There are no good surround sound headphones that give bass, surround sound is for esports, bass is for single-speaker stuff. QuantumOne by JBL's, or whatever their latest iteration of that model is, is the best in surround sound i've experienced, but the music quality was ass because of it.

I buy these same headphones for $20 once every ~2 years, after the last pair breaks. I discovered that Koss Porta Pro drivers sound really good 20 years ago and I've been using versions of them ever since. It's better to keep buying new ones really because headphone speakers wear out and sound worse with usage.
I remember testing it and my 4yo really nice noise cancelling sennheisers sounded like shit when comparing them to a brand new pair of these

Back in the day I used to rock a razer abyssus headset. Peak surround playing bad company 2, lovely bass that would fuck my shit up when cranking psytrance at night. Comfortable on my big head as well, wore them until the synthetic fabrics started turning to dust and then some. Nothing compares to that value for money and everything else has been an expensive disappointment of pick one but lose the other.
