I'm using PCSX2 to play PS2 games, but they always look blurry, jaggy and just weird. I'm pretty sure this isn't because of their age or anything, it's something in the emulatorWhat do?
idk check software mode or hardware mode or somethin senpaitchifamdela
>>723869554increase your resolution scale and use a different scaling algorithm dumbdumb
deinterlacing always makes ps2 games look like shit. they look the best on crt television. that's just how it is.
>>723869554<-this, or use a crt filter
>>723869554Just say "I'm a retard and I need help on how to use the emulator"https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UGeLqcwAjws
>>723873173Why so pissy, xister?
>>723873173Texture packs are the final touch.
>>723869554Make sure bilinear filtering isn't on because a lot of emulators have it on by default.
>>723870758how do you get a crt filter to work on pcsx2? it is not like a good ntsc filter is built in like with duckstation.>>723873173tbf upping the internal resolution can screw up certain games like with Dragon Quest 8 and Yakuza.
>>723869554Some games can be forced into progressive mode by a .pnach patch. Makes a huge difference.
>>723874351Yakuza is fine
>>723875307That looks good.
>>723875307Yakuza has a widescreen option in game btw
>>723875307I personally don't play without a filter but that looks good even without one
>>723873173>>723873623complete texture packs 100% of the time make PS2 games look worseI have never seen a good one
>>723869554this is probably the second worst emulator on the market. only outdone by rpsc3. which is coincidentally, made by the same faggots
>pcsx2schizo doing his /v/ tourI missed ya buddy
>>723879150tranny emulator
>use smooth motion for PCSX2>it's fucking amazing
>>723869554yeah I feel youyou need 12x resolution in pcsx2 to get close to the same clarity of dolphin at 4x>>723870093that not all though. even progressive scan games aren't pixel perfect like on dolphin. I blame the shitty ps2 hw
>>723875307Yakuza is not fine above native resolution, it breaks the lighting and this still hasn't been fixed despite it being fine on RPCS3. This image was a few months ago but it's still the same, I just haven't updated it.
>>723869554When is duckstation2? I want to replace this shit.
>>723881982PCSX2 is Duckstation2. It's literally using the same UI and everything.
>>723881359but isn't the ps3 version in japanese only?
>>723879954>that not all though. even progressive scan games aren't pixel perfect like on dolphin. I blame the shitty ps2 hwthat's still an issue with not using a CRT. ps2 games are displayed with non square pixels. 512x448 (8:7 pixel aspect ratio) at 4:3 display aspect ratio. pcsx2 can only show you blurry pixels to approximate this. If you want it sharper you can make your window an exact integer scale of the resolution but you'll get incorrect proportions with a horizontal squish.
>>723882269oh yeah, good point
>>723881359>listed as "not an issue" on their wikiffs, so this shit will never get fixed
>>723882261Yes, but the point is that it's not an issue on RPCS3's version of 1 HD even when upscaling to 4K so it looks exactly like it does at native whereas on PCSX2 it's an issue when upscaling at all causing the visuals to look duller, lights to be slightly offset from their correct positions, and less bloom which you can see in that very comparison. It's supposed to have all of those when running around and takes away from the atmosphere when you don't have it.
>>723881359its fine, looks more cinematic
>>723874351>how do you get a crt filter to work on pcsx2I use reshade. works flawlessly for the most part.Duckstation spoiled me with its native integration of it
