First time player. Why didn't they make the open world more fun with side quests or something? There's nothing to explore.
side quests have to be unlocked
My problem is that it feels impossible to explore with all the enemies everywhere and since it's a survival horror I was told I'm not supposed to use ammo on the enemies in the city, but using the knife or the rusted pipe is absolutely fucking useless on them, and it's really not fun exploring while 2-3 dogs and a goddamn flying shit is chasing me around all the while that asinine psychotic music is playing full blast and the radio is doing that fucking sound. So whatever ammo or health pickups are in the city will remain not picked up because I can't deal with this shit.I just reached the hospital btw.
this game is more of a cozy safe space rather than something I do for gameplay. I wish I could play it for the first time again.
There's actually quite a bunch of fun stuff to find if you explore in out of the way places. Also I preferred 1 over 2 surprisingly>>723884925You can use the weakest gun, you'll find plenty of ammo along the way. Keep shotgun and rifle for bosses
>>723885148Something most be really wrong with me or you becuase this is the furthest thing from a "cozy safe space", the entire game so far has been extremely unnerving to me.
>>723885245Is it actually okay to use the pistol on them? I've only ever used the shotgun so far on the boss at the end of the school. I didn't run out of ammo so far by killing everything I find indoors, but I wonder if I screw myself if I start shooting everything with the pistol outside too.
>>723885407there's no point in killing the overworld enemies. you're faster than all of them.

These are horror games. So just like horror movies a big part of the experience is the first time. You’re really meant to explore everywhere, get jump scared by enemies, find stuff, keep going, maybe die, and then go back and grab the stuff and dodge the enemies or decide if an area wasn’t worth going to at all. Also, as you traverse, much like a movie, if you stay close to the edges of roads and the center of rooms then the semi fixed camera will show you points of interest worth looking into further. If you think of the context of when the game was made, it was expensive and it expects/plans for you to replay the whole game again multiple times as well as die a lot and restart. You really would have gotten your moneys worth.
>>723885520That sounds like bullshit. While I can outrun the dogs yes, I can't really explore while constantly running away from them. It's just not fun. And if I focus on looking for items while trying to dodge them, I will inevitably get hit eventually, not to mention how fucking annoying the stupid music that keeps playing. And you can't outrun the flying shit, they catch up to you and hit you, you can zig-zag and that loses them most of the time but I still sometimes get hit by them anyway. And while I'm doing this, I'm not actually exploring and I'm missing the tiny few pixel item pickups. How is this even remotely fun playing this way?
learn your footsies and just whack 'em
>>723886108Don't pay attention to people who already "solved" the game. Play for the story and focus on beating the game. There aren't a billion things to discover, and you'll likely end up with the worst ending anyway, because that's how these games used to be played. If you really liked the game, you would go for second playthrough, and then you can come up with your own ways of dealing with enemies and exploring the map.
>>723884925One of the unlockables for beating the game is giving you the option for more ammo from pickups. The game doesnt expect you to actually go around killing everything until after multiple playthroughs. Youre better off ignoring most overworld monsters and only fighting them when they are in your way. You still get a good amount of ammo to play around with, so dont feel bad about wasting any. And you always have a melee weapon if you need it.
