You know how I know none of you faggots actually beat this game? Because none of you complain about this big fat FAGGOT

If you're having trouble, remember the "bell" thing you have to attack to start the gauntlet and fight? You can attack it with tools and start the fights without being in the arena, just use charged attacks on the door and that's it! I personally don't think is as worthy, is really boring and kinda lame, but if you win (and can continue with the rest of the game and have fun) that's what really matters in your case!

I died like 20+ times to almost every boss in the game, OP. How are you “not having fun”? If losing and trying again isn’t your idea of a good time I have no idea how you made it that far in Silksong to begin with.

Lugoli is in general not that fun, but it is annoying, not as much as Brood mother, but is just that big hitbox, and dogshit status make it a pain in the ass to deal

Most of the complaints people have about Silksong is not about the bosses themselves. With very few exceptions most bosses are tough but fair, some even quite fun. It's all the mandatory shit you have to do to fight the boss and you have to redo to fight the boss again, most people have issue with. See how most of >>723960416's strawman complaints are about bosses that have mandatory gauntlets or long and treacherous runbacks or both.
I don't remember the ass bug boss having annoying shit like that. Iirc the bench was near, and he had a pre-fight gauntlet but the enemies were weaklings that could be one hit killed with a needle strike, and his patterns, while unconventional, they were telegraphed and easy to dodge.
>>
>>723960416
>hurrdurr it´s just laik da frrst 1 guys
HK bosses never killed you in 3 hits nor could they ever land 2 hits almost simultaniously and you could recover from damage in just 1 second after landing 4 hits instead of 1.5 seconds after landing 9
not to mention, getting hit while healing only lost you 1/3rd Soul instead of the full Silk bar
>hurrdurr muh gauntlets are eazy
they are also lazy boring game design
It´s bad enough that this game bloats difficulty by boosting stat numbers, and they even throw horde waves at you all the fucking time whenever they want to brik wall exploration just to pad gameplay

I fucking hate Godmaster and all the fucking savestate steel soul tas speedruning retards that memed it on jewtube
I wanted more Metroid, not Elden Ring
>>
Its truly amazing to see how much this game filtered people.
I played HK right before Silksong, and I thought it was just more of the same in terms of difficulty. Maybe even easier towards the end? And this is with literally nothing but Wanderer's basic attacks because I'm boring.

If you're struggling with this boss, the correct thing to do is just magically know that the Wreath of Purity exists and stumble upon it, and realize that you should put off the boss for another 20 hours.

>it's just a normal HK boss
>BRO GROAL IS LITERALLY IMPOSSIBLE
>it's just a normal HK boss
Having replayed HK1 recently along with the pantheons this just isn't true. Most normal HK1 bosses have very simple cues and blind spots where you can just rail on them and they die in seconds. Savage Beastfly flies all over the place and constantly summons mobs which take more than 1 hit to kill, same with Groal. They'd both be late game bosses in the first game. Similarly the Last Judge is at least Hollow Knight tier, but you fight him mid game.
Then you get to the late game bosses of Silksong and every one of them is at least NKG-tier with some like Karmelita and Lost Lace being Pure Vessel-tier. The difficulty levels just aren't comparable.

I'm 84% convinced that the creators of the game balanced the game around players not being retards and using the proper tools against each boss. Then players played the game like it was Hollow Knight 1 didn't use tools and started complaining the game is more difficult than it really is.

This is the devs' fault imo. There's a HUGE gap between how the devs want people to play, and how people actually play.

>Devs want you to use tools on bosses and "just know" how to manage your shards
>Players opt out entirely because shards are dumb as fuck
>Devs want people to "just know" when to disengage from a boss and go do something else, then come back stronger and beat it
>Players are stubborn and keep trying until they beat it
>Devs want people to trust them to guide exploration and "just know" that they're in good hands
>Players are getting frustrated and looking things up because half of the game is hidden behind hidden paths and badly-obscured secrets that break the rules constantly
>You're supposed to exhaust all of your options so that the sidequest that reveals the hidden path finally unlocks and gives you a breadcrumb to follow
>Devs designed a secret path that was so well-hidden that they second-guessed themselves and had to add something that directly reveals it

Maybe it's just me, but shouldn' game design try to account for the way players are going to react and be influenced by the game? Half of the stuff in Silksog fails because the devs designed it to be interacted with in one specific way, while either ignoring or not anticipating that players would do it differently. It doesn't take a genius to predict that making one of your central combat options cost a prohibitively rare and expensive resource is going to dissuade a lot of people, who are inadvertently going to make the game harder for themselves.

Hollow Knight was different. It was possible to fully immerse oneself into the game, play it just for yourself without having to research stuff online

Just finished lost lace.
Fun game. Wish it had more involved platforming but I guess the downward pogos being less useful for platforming and more tailored to combat killed that.
If there's one thing I hated it's the contact damage fucking me every time I sprinted to do a dash attack->downwards sting combo.

Very few people 100% without looking for a hint. I did that twice, once with the last spool and how to solve The Mist gimmick.
The Wreath of Purity I found after getting my ass kicked by Groal and the insane runback ( only found the secret bench after beating him), because I noped the hell out of Bilewater and decided to explore everything before going back and found the secret entrance to Putrid Ducts.
Also I was hoping ( coping) that there MUST be an item to deal with that crap.
>>
>>723968757
My favourite was Nyleth being tucked away in a part of Shellwood that was completely disconnected from the rest, and accessed through the CEILING of the elevator shaft in the fucking GRAND GATE. Bonus points for making it extra bullshit by having the path loop around underneath so you can't find the entrance by checking all of the walls surrounding the marker.
>>
>>723967840
Hollow Knight was way more fucking obtuse. My first playthrough I had no idea what was happening. The cutscenes, the chained knight, the dreamers, none of it fitted together in way to form a coherent narrative. The saving grace was that the world and the sound and the gameplay was engaging enough without story. In Silksong your mission is immediately given to you in your handy WishbookTM and marked on your map. You know exactly what you're here to do. Hollow Knight never even attempted to explain why the Knight was where he was, and shit like the Birthplace was insanely esoteric.

i can understand other complaints but not this one. why the fuck would you play a metroidvania and not just explore elsewhere when stuck? this is like a major selling point of the genre, i get it if you're coming off of normal games with a much more linear progression but even in hollow knight if deepnest was too much for you you'd just fuck off and explore elsewhere and not have to touch that place until you finally had to.

Anon the statue in Hunter's March was the ant queen, aka, Karmelita's statue. And you should've known the march went on further than it seems because of the quest where the ants attacks the basement in greymoor.
Also, I think the reason the entrance to Verdana is there, is so you can still get a heart while missing one of the marked areas.
>Your hint to return to the starting mossy area and play a song to open a door? "It's somewhere with bones"
Whats this for? Did I miss something?
>>
I'm too old to "figure it out" based on the vague fucking clues in this game. I played blind until I got stuck on the choral chambers gauntlet thing. Looked at a guide and realized I hadn't explored like 70% of the map yet and then just went back and made sure I didn't miss anything. Walking around in this game isn't fun until Act 3 when you can actively mog everything into oblivion.
>>
>>723966761
>Devs want you to use tools on bosses and "just know" how to manage your shards
>Players opt out entirely because shards are dumb as fuck
I believe the biggest flaw of the game that caused that issue was that early wish that had you waste 300+ shards to advance the plot. I don't know about others but that incentivized me to hoard shards and keep tool usage to a minimum because I thought shards would be used as another currency for certain shop stalls.
The rest points are kinda dumb tho, just explore more lmao
>>

It's ridiculously easy. Did it with hunter's crest on hour 12 at 5am of my play session because I wanted to wrap up the mushroom quest before going to bed.
>>
>>723973398
My expectation was that I'd be able to clear things when I found them. The alternative being that you can stumble into boss fights that you're not ready for and are meant to be roadblocks that you're not meant to fight yet. Hollow Knight wasn't designed that way, so if you find a difficult boss you just keep at it until it clicks.

Also, the game is challenging enough that you can learn that high difficulty is normal and just has to be slogged through. I don't think it's as common as you'd think for people to go "huh, this boss is hard, maybe I should come back later".
>>
>>723976092
Every time the guide was like "you're supposed to go here" my reaction was basically that I never wouldn't figured that out on my own without wasting a few hours walking around and hating the game. I just like doing the content not the "mystery" of exploration.

Dunno, there are lots of bullshit bosses in SS but somehow Lugoli didn't feel that bad for me, I think I got him on my 3rd try, which would make him one of the easiest bosses for me, since I died at least 10 times on most bosses. I guess different people find different bosses difficult.

>>723957715
Dude he's not that hard, just stop with your healing centric strategy and try to actually learn him. I recommend the drill tool, when he does the ass slam you can destroy him with it, same with broodmother.
When he pounds the floor to summon maggot balls don't run away from them, instead bait the attack and run towards him, the balls won't get you that way.
>>
>>723976339
I don't know man, I didn't use a guide and completed 96%. I probably missed some quests, but whatever, you don't need to be autistic about completion, just be fine with missing stuff.
>>
>>723976339
I like exploring, but this game in particular was really annoying because it'd constantlt tell me that I "failed" at exploring and didn't do it well enough. I tried to be thorough and I STILL missed a bunch of stuff. Feels like it kinda jumped the shark by trying to outsmart and one-up the experts and fool their Metroid sense with cheap tricks and obtuse secrets.
>>
>>723976835
The problem is that the game expects you to know the map almost completely on your first pass through the game. Like to get to Act 3, you have to speak to the Caretaker in Songclave so he can tell you about a trap that he'd heard of. Well okay. That's already a little obtuse. The Caretaker isn't really linked with too much so you may not think to speak with him unprompted. But fine, checking in with NPCs occasionally is Hollow Knight 101. He tells you that he needs an item made by the Weavers that he can then engineer into the trap. This item is in one of the Weavenests. The Weavenests themselves are tucked away in various corners of the map. It is VERY easy to overlook any one of these. I personally enjoy rooting around the map searching for hidden areas but I can't say a player would be wrong for being confused at this quest line. What Weavenest? And which one? The one in Bilewater?

i feel like the main problem with people being butthurt/"bad" is that, like with darksouls, they refuse to experiment/engage with the mechanics.

>BRO CORAL TOWER IS LITERALLY IMPOSSIBLE
>easy as fuck and first tried and I don't even get what's supposed to be the difficult part about it
For me, it was easy until the third gauntlet, but it has a lot of 'gotcha' moments you have to learn how to deal with especially with coral popping up all over the ground in unexpected places. And then you gotta go through the two easy gauntlets again just to get another crack at the third.
Escaping to the surface was no where near path of pain level, but still harder than most of the bosses. So was the platforming leading up to Coral Tower.

I really didn't like the beast crest, but I tried really hard to. It's a really cool crest in theory, I just find that the execution leaves much to be desired. It could REALLY use at least one blue slot because yellow tools are so fucking bad for the most part.

I quite enjoyed the witch crest, but I don't like that each hit of the heal move has to connect per mask it heals. It's hard enough to get it off considering some bosses are so fast and the risk involved, so I feel like even if you don't get all the hits off, getting one hit should give you the full heal. Not only that, some enemies are too weak (or weakened from fighting you) that even if you get them with the move, they won't have enough HP to heal all the masks. Both of these crests need tweaking.

Generally speaking I use reaper for safety/platforming or hunter if I'm confident with the boss. I got pretty used to the diagonal move now and it's fun.

Tools having ammo was a mistake. It disincentivises tool usage and punishes you with busy work if you use them too much. I guess maybe they were worried about tool abuse, but you can balance that out with making tools weaker at the start(they already are - you get tool damage upgrades) and limiting how many times you can use the tools per bench rest. It's really annoying and I hate the mechanic, plus being rewarded with shells when you find a secret area feels like nigga rape.

>want to replay because i liked the bosses and to test different crests
>i dont want to do the overworld again
relistically speaking how long will they take to give us pantheon?

I beat this guy and I can't even remember what the reward was. Every fucking boss is like that. I don't know why I bother. Can act 3 begin already?
>>

I beat Lugoli first try on Steel Soul.
Once you understand the trajectory of his splashes and how they bounce off of walls, he's easy.
It IS spooky when he does his hip check twice in a row tho
>>
>>723981548
some bosses don't even have any reward which feels like total shit
>le reward is to keep playing!!!
shut the fuck up
>>
>>723980595
If he's talking about the bug in the cave beyond the simple lock that leads to the wormways, lmao. That's basically just a trash mob. Didn't even register to me as a boss.
>>
>>723981275
No, the bell beast. I lost to it like 3 or 4 times. I 2 shot sinner.
>>
>>723981327
The game does a lot to disincentivise experimentation in general, which sucks, because it's necessary.
>>
>>723981548
The reward is one of the key items you need to get the third pale oil to upgrade your needle.

don't even get me started on how you can just enter and exit spam rooms and tap enemies for silk until you full heal, there's so much degenerate shit you can do that undermines the devs intentions
>>
>>723981768
I don't mind if beating a boss unlocks a chunky new area, but getting a sidegrade or a fraction of an upgrade just feels disappointing.

Steelsoul is a mode, casual-kun

I beat the biggest hurdles I had in Act 2 in Steel Soul today
>Went to pick up Sharpdart to help against the lava Savage Beastfly fight, ended up barely using the skill and killed the boss relatively easily
>Did the Far Fields mask gauntlet with the Cogflies, pretty trivial
>Used Architect's Crest meth build to give myself infinite health and cleared Putrified Ducts, got Zog and Fleatopia ready to go

I realy think this run might be it, I just need to practice the couple gauntlet and bosses I have left in my regular save to try them later on in SS mode

Side note, I haven't seen Sherma show up in Songclave even though I spoke to him in the spa. Is it because I haven't yet paid 300 rosaries to build the settlement?

I use both
Boomerangs are great for big fat dudes and bosses because once you've gotten used to the sweet spot, it does repeating damages
Throwing pins are great for straightforward DPS as they are very easy to throw and hit something with
>>
I died pretty often to most bosses, but the problem was less that they were hard and more that I am impatient as hell and tried to get in as much damage as possible. this obviously is not smart with a lot of bosses, but I still tried. maximum 10 deaths on each boss, before I took a break and then did a clean run, because I stopped gorilla moding

Nice one, anon. Improving and gaining mastery sure feels good, huh?

>>Oh you want to fight Carmelita? Then please ignore the marker and go into this completely disconnected area hunter's march and use your ascend ability into this patch of bushes
you mean the statue of the ant queen after they literally tell you to go find the memories of old rulers?
>>Didn't find the area under Bellhart? Then enjoy your witch's curse lol
there are multiple NPCs that tell you where the doctor is or you could have found her yourself if you actually know how to explore
>>Your hint to return to the starting mossy area and play a song to open a door? "It's somewhere with bones"
THIS IS LITERALLY TAUGHT TO YOU WHEN YOU GET THE NEEDOLIN, THEY LITERALLY SHOW YOU CAN OPEN THOSE EXACT SAME DOORS WITH THE MUSIC, YOU LITERALLY CANNOT PROGRESS IN THE WEB DREAM WITHOUT KNOWING THIS SILKSONG HATERS HAVE DOUBLE DIGIT IQ

Is this a joke or are people nowadays braindead? I 100%'d the game without a guide just fine, not once did i feel like i need a guide. You people are just too used to skyrimslop that has an objective marker to follow brainlessly
>>
>>723971495
i love the boomerang, its the holy cross of this game
>>
the only thing i had to look up online was the fleas requirements for act 3, just because i had the dialogue about them wanting to find a new place to live early and forgot after hours of gameplay, they should make it a wish like every other quest so that people dont forget

>>Oh you want to fight Carmelita? Then please ignore the marker and go into this completely disconnected area hunter's march and use your ascend ability into this patch of bushes
TBF the three elders tell you about an "ant queen", and there's a big shiny statue telling you "PLEASE USE YOUR NEW POWER HERE!"
>>
>>723988232
me when i find a door I can't open and don't have the foresight to at least put a marker on it
people here legit dont play video games
>>
>>723962115
I don't get what issue people had with this
you clawline in, pogo once, clawline or dash out and wait for the attack its doing to end
If you get comfortable you can go for more pogo hits per cycle and simply react to attacks instead of anticipating them
>>
I only use Flintslate.

It has its downsides
>Look forward to fighting First Sinner again, since it's a great fight and it doesn't risk ending your SS run if you lose
>First tried her, wasn't even close
