>>
I've never played it but it probably sucks.

I wish the combat had more depth
>>
What’s it about and can you level up?
>>
i own it but only played until the end of the saiyan saga, something about it bugs me
>>
>>723970805
i would rather just watch kai or abridged
>>
Fantastic game that was extremely fun to play all the way through. The combat was good but maybe could have been better. I enjoyed being able to level and unlock skills. I like that it's one of the few DBZ RPGs. I would love a modern day turn-based one though - would be amazing if they actually put effort into it and made a challenging turn-based DBZ RPG with deep mechanics and more of an adult theme to the story and dialogue.

Hated having a thousand orbs floating everywhere to collect. Ruined the fantasy immediately.

Yes you can level up and unlock a skill tree. It's worth playing especially since you can get it on a good sale these days. The DLC is pretty solid too, good amount of extra stuff to do.

Play on the higher difficulty for bosses and stuff, but turn it down to grind. That's what I did anyway. It's not a hard game in particular but on hard difficulties some bosses do INSANE damage with simple attacks if you don't play the mechanics properly. There's a battle with stupid fucking Dodoria in the early-mid game and he does like 30k damage with one of his charging headbutt attacks that you really can't easily avoid. It's ridiculous on hard difficulty to fight him doing that damage.

My friend plays it literally all the time. I admit though, the fights do look pretty fun and DBZ-like.

i liked it, just wish it was more akin to the original series instead of the kai version

what a coincidence I was literally thinking about it earlier today. I never played it but I remember coming across news long ago about the 23rd tournament being added as DLC. Which is the only OG Dragon Ball content added. All other Dragon Ball stories from when Goku was a kid/teen weren't added.

So I was thinking why doesn't the same team, CyberConnect2, make a new open world Dragon Ball game covering all the pre 23rd tournament arcs? with different gameplay mechanics as flying wouldn't be possible, not even using nimbus. So they have to create a whole new open world map that can only be explored on foot. With main and side quests.

another thought that crossed my mind is why not create a Dragon Quest like OG Dragon Ball game. a game that's as JRPG as possible.

yes, it was cool to visit the story sites and all but the combat felt repetitive and a button smash
>>
>>723971820
heh. i came from a dark souls background so dodoria doing 30k damage just means he finally hit boss worthy. i dont flinch at stuff like that. Men like me thrive on pain and retry screens. this game is probably easy to Men like me.
>>
It needed alternate storylines and to remove the orbs, make obstacle courses or minigames instead or something. They make it look so cheap and korean MMO-y, when it wouldn't be so bad otherwise. And I'm not sure how I feel about the DLC-rape. A few hours of extra story in its own 'instance' and it doesn't even carry over into the main world.
>>
>>723970805
Why is it always only Frieza and Cell saga that's kino
>>
>>723970805
I liked it, it's the best DBZ RPG since the SNES one, I also think it's very funny how they shower you with experience to mimic the characters getting stronger instead of just balancing the next enemies around your current level. I just wish the open world and random enemies were more interesting.
>>
>>723970805
sequel should be dragon ball super: kakarot, i wanna experience the moro arc
>>
I hate that there’s no open world transformation or letting you change outfits in the postgame.
Story is funny when you get to Buu Saga and you can see when they rushed everything. Like playing as Goten for 1 minute to talk to NPCs or how the majority was speedran with summary narration of what happened between scenes.
Never did any DLCs, got all achievements in base game and left. Might go back to it some day if the transformations and outfit swapping was ever added. Doubtful.

What’s cool about that is you can see their power levels are in the stats during the story and it matches very close to what the official numbers were, at least what they provided.

This was absolutely critical for immersion and they flubbed it. It was something the LOG series got right, even with at-will fusions.

glorified anime braweler slop, cybercucknet2 has never made a good game

Not enough carrot, too much rot.
>>

Pirated it and enjoyed it, would like it if Xenoverse 3 (if it ever comes out) copied it's battle system and graphics.

Will say though, the BoG DLC was beyond abysmal.
>>
>>723973420
That’s also true for the show itself.
>>
>>723971820
How immersive is it? Do you unlock transformations (SS1, SS2, etc.) and powers from the anime through this skill tree? Can you change the story if you do something different from the source material?
>>
>>723973420
it's because the buu arc is much longer, but I always liked it the most, and it was the best game of the LoG series. It really needs its own game to shine.
>>723975704
You unlock upgrades for the forms, which are given via story missions. The skills are either story-assigned or unlocked via 'thought form' battles + enhanced via upgrades. No there are no alternate storylines, which is a severe hit. That seems to be more of a fighting game thing, though. (Supersonic Warriors, Sparking Zero).

I will say the SS Goku vs Freeza was so dynamic and explosive in Kakarot, you truly felt like two gods doing battle, whereas it was tame and timid in Sparking Zero. The rematch with Golden Freeza later on captured it well
>>
>>723970805
everything after namek felt extremely rushed
>>
should i watch the series first?
>>
>>723977421
Watch or read it regardless, it's great.

When characters can't fly in the DLC it locks them to the ground. Such as the Budokai Tenkaichi, that entire series is ground-locked until the arena breaks, or when you spar with Pan and Goten. I really enjoyed the Goku vs Piccolo fight. I may replay some due to this thread. I really like the storybook with lore and cards.
