A confrontation with LaCroix and the Sheriff is obviously unavoidable, but I think there should've been more ways to utilize diplomacy or disciplines to help you in the last part of the game. You now have a ranged spell that replenishes blood on use, an AoE stun, and of course the heal everyone gets, which you can use the stolen blood from the first spell for. For the entire first part of the game you can ignore all the combat stats and sell gear if you want.
