Well, if you take Before The Storm as canon, they did talk for a bit but it fizzled out. Max moved on with her life and saw her move to Seattle as a permanent thing and a fresh start; new faces, places that kind of thing imo. There's also that awkwardness between childhood friends when they drift apart, you kind of don't know how to deal with that sort of thing yet at that age.
