If you are at the Beauvoir the carnival boss or Adam the humanoid machine boss in the desert and still find yourself not liking it, just drop it. If you can stomach it though, it genuinely gets good towards the end of the first third of the game onward, especially in the Forest.

Sometimes, I turn on random enemy spawns just for the chaos that is Moblins and Iron Knuckles in the overworld, but I disable them for dungeons.In MM I use the save editor to retain the razor sword and hero's shield. I still made sure to get the guilded sword beforehand though, just to say I did it.
