What does the future of gaming look like
>>
Every generation getting dumber than the last until every game is just a single button clicked to make number go up

That banana game is just the start
>>
AI slop as far as the eye can see with no way to stop it.

Rampant cheating, digital communism in tetms of levelling the playing field with special abilities and ultimates and unearned victories (which somehow still dpesnt curb cheating), contrasted with giga capitalism nickel amd diming you out of the most basic features for shit that used to come built into an n64 fps

>nickel amd diming you out of the most basic features for shit that used to come built into an n64 fps
I remember when things like changing the color of your character or getting an alternative skin was free or unlockable and now people pay upwards of hundreds of dollars for the same feature lol. Gamers deserve everything that has happened
>>
Unfortunately probably more obsession of movie slop realism graphics instead of unique art styles and graphics and probably more shitty game play mechanics, shitty OST, shitty story, shitty area designs etc etc. The majority of people making games now don't go into making games for passion they go in it for making money which makes everything shit and souless and unrememberable.
>>
imagine a hamster running in a wheel that's branded with the latest multiplayer game

Banana game wasn't about pressing a button, and you should know it.

>>
>>724047856
Well if 2020 to now is what the future holds. I know many people will stop playing games. RPG maker will become a way to make easy money and men and women in games will look like they are 90, despite saying they are teenagers so the new generation feels like they are good looking.
>>
>>724048353
Oh God I can see it now it's gonna be like that blonde south American guy saying he's a 30 some odd year old that looks 17 but everyone is like that grim
>>
I think in terms of physical interaction what we've seen with virtual reality is probably the ceiling in terms of mass consumer tech. any sort of transcendence in that area is going to be exclusively a domain of the elite, at the cheapest it will be some kind of paid in person experience like scuba diving.
>>
>>724047856
corporations will push for cloud gaming
more AI and jeets
AAA will be even crappier

There are millions of retarded people who want to buy a spiderman skin in a military game or play a slant eyed gacha game with a main menu nested with 100 different menus you have to individually collect rewards from to get anime girl collectibles in. Even worse, only 20% of india has internet access and every minute of the day there are two more indians getting internet access for the first time. Even if they don't have money they still give clicks, views, attention, ad revenue. This is what vidya is designed towards now, to appeal to the masses. Not the masses of westerners, the original demographic of basically any kind of digital content. The masses of the world. You have no idea what's in store.

Gotta say though that the worst gen is still millenials. They are also the most addicted one to social medial. Ipad babies are a different thing since cocomelon is no joke, killing their ability to speak and requiring them to get speech therapy anyway.

Ai is just a tool and it can create amazing stuff in the right hands and just reduces the time wasting thing. A guy with a great vision of a game will still create it, but at a faster pace and lower budget.

AI lets retarded third worlders churn out "content" at rates never seen before. Prior to AI they literally did not have the talent to do so, because no one wanted to hear microsoft sam or a third worlder narrating a video. AI isn't the issue, it's the people who are being given access to it.

The only thing that can save gaming for me is total outlier phenom level devs with zero interest in politics or selling out making games without any outside interference and somehow gaining enough traction that it can be called a success story
Anyone who wants to save gaming should be focusing on making that kind of scenario more feasible
If every creator needs to be an incorruptible genius with independent funding for games to be good, it's over. The good news is gaming is full of people looking for devs who think like this, and plenty of people will jump on the hype train at the slightest whiff of the promise of meaningful positive change toward creativity and principles in the industry
Call me an idealist gachafag I dare you

God I miss when crowdfunding seemed like a good and cool idea, how many good games did we miss out on because we can't have nice things

indie niggers either put the game on maintenance mode or outright abandon it the moment they get even just a taste of success.

gaming is full of poor people from third world countries who want live service games that can sustain themselves by milking whales from western countries. that's what gaming has become. it's been over for a good decade now.
>>724050682
>crowdfunding
same, starbound was the first and last time I fell for this. actually lolling at ashes of creation and star citizen.
>>
>>724050843
At least Star Citizen is seductive. Game looks crisp as fuck. Ashes has the most soulless look I've ever seen in a game

Yeah, I'm saying it's a double edged sword how many people are willing to put their faith in indie games and kickstarters, a broken clock and so on

>Ashes has the most soulless look I've ever seen in a game
the old school MMO crowd and the people funding the game want it that way, they have been massively hyping up these archaic dogshit games that look like total pieces of shits for like a decade now. camelot unchained is another example. people unironically just demand trash now, things are so bad MMO fags can't even trust devs to move past archaic tab targets that look like this
>>
>>724051234
Yeah I've had this theory for years that MMOs need to appear out of something else, ideally a something that was made with the intention of later making an MMO out of it. And the culture of being expected to spinelessly pander to the unwashed MMO refugees in every way needs to go, hardcore. Like, nothing good will ever come of listening to that mob.
>>
>>724051565
>MMOs need to appear out of something else
Sword art online pretty much proved that we would never get another good MMO again. People would rather just create and watch isekai anime instead of even entertaining the idea of making it a reality in a virtual world since it's not even really possible. The genre was a product of its time, and I'm starting to think that it wasn't even MMOs, but gaming as we knew it as a whole cannot be replicated in the environment it existed in during the late 90s and 2000s.
>>
>>724047856
few breakaways amongst the sea of slop
>>
>>724051918
I think full on sell-your-soul MMOs are shit anyway. They're designed to keep you unsatisfied by diluting everything and hanging it in front of treadmills.
To offer an alternative, if I was making an MMO-like thing I'd start by ensuring that the core gameplay, still without permanent rewards or xp bars, is satisfying enough that you feel you can stop anytime without having wasted your time. Unironically like call of duty or halo. You played for that amount of hours because you were having fun, and stepping away doesn't feel bittersweet, because the core gameplay was the whole point. The MMO aspects in this hypothetical are there to make it more interesting and stimulating to spend hours and hours on it. I genuinely believe that an MMO having less fun core gameplay directly correlates with how people interact and bond in the community but I'm ranting
>>
>>724052361
Also, making people care about the game as a world/chatroom/community is so much easier than people act like it is. For all the nolifing and video essaying the MMO community proves itself capable of every year, even the galaxybrain youtubers who lecture on the genre fail to realize the most obvious shit. I'm not gonna drop my own ideas here though I'm too pretentious
