Gold is used as a commodity exchange reserve by central banks. They aren't gonna "dump" it. They will exchange it for commodities they need or hold onto it if they currently don't have anything they need.
Gold costing 500 USD is literally impossible because USD is inflationary. The value of gold can't go down enough, that would require gold magically losing it's properties which make it useful as a commodity. Like maybe a complete civilization collapse, but then USD which is just worthless fiat would be even less valuable so it still couldn't exchange favourably.

You know what I meant, they can exchange it for crypto or something else and it can be done under new "environmental program" to reduce Earth overmining. Everything will sound very nice but end result - gold will cost nothing.
>which make it useful as a commodity.
as I said, actual gold use is miniscule, most of the gold is being hoarded
>Like maybe a complete civilization collapse
People who bought knives thought the same, we are talking about 10+ years old market with 6 billions market, nobody was expecting this from Gabe but he did it anyway.

>>724055154
They are both speculation, the price of gold is not driven by the demand for industrial uses.
The difference is in how they behave.
The claim of crypto is "new generation of reserve asset, fiat is overprinted, we are a lifeboat and a store of value", it doesn't behave like that. It goes up with the stock market, and it goes down with it too.
The claim of gold is "old generation of reserve asset, fiat is overprinted, we are a lifeboat and a store of value", it does behave like that. For years gold was flat, or even down in real terms. It underperformed the stock market, because it should, it's not a productive asset. Then, when finally the US and dollar dominance started to look a bit shaky and when they were outright dismantled by pedo in charge, gold shot up in response. It followed it's thesis
Ultimately, value doesn't exist, everything is speculation. A glass of water is worth different amounts to a man drowning and a man in the desert.
>>
>>724054125

Gold is a mix of irrational speculation, and a commodity like land.
It is irrational, because gold is a nearly worthless metal that has only small scale applications in industry. So there's no materialistic basis for gold being valuable. It isn't like land that has an obvious inherent value.
But because it is a physical asset that is resistant to corrosion and can be reprocessed many times over, it has durability and avoids being a purely ethereal asset like crypto. You can't get screwed on buying gold and have your gold bars disappear.
It is a hybrid product, not one or the other.

They would never do that. For starters, it would start an all out civil war. If you genuinely wanted to cull the population while also not wasting precious resources, you'd just poison shit most people consume. Fast food. Tobacco. Coffee. Alcohol. The default knife anims are dogshit & sound like shit. They just look really ugly and after a certain while gets boring. Some knives example Karambit & Butterfly have different animations and are cool as hell, so people buy them. They dont have any special effects or anything like that, but you use the knife probably the most in this game, since you go up and down places faster with it. Friend of mine bought a butterfly around 2015 for like 40 euros, the skin inflation has been pretty crazy past few years, even before CS2.

Not happening, goober.
Knives only have 1/3 the drop chance of a red, and you need 5 to craft.
This is basically a market correction pulling reds up and knives/gloves downwards, but butterflies tanked half their value... down to ~$500 for the cheapest ones.
