i can't tell if this is a shitpost but i'm going to assume you're asking in good faith
i have a love/hate relationship with terraria
i have 420 hours in this game (not counting the hours i put in before it was released on steam)
but... i can't stomach any more of this game. the early game is bad, master mode sucks, building anything other than rectangle shitboxes for your NPCs is highly autistic, end-game bosses devolve into bullet hell shitfests, you're almost forced to build dedicated arenas for each boss, moon lord without rod of discord is extremely annoying, having to farm all the terraspark boots components...
i guess i had fun while playing it so that's nice but every now and then i get the itch to start a new playthrough until i remember these things and get extremely put off

honestly couldn't have said it better myself

every now and then i get this itch to start a new wolrd/new character/new build etc..

but the mere thought of playing the early game fucking turns me off so much, here's the thing, terraria is fun af but you need to grind to get to the fun part which i would consider post-mech bosses, that's when the game starts to truly ramp up in quality

OP here yes I was asking genuinely because i have like 400+ hours on steam plus 80 hours on the mobile version (yes I played the mobile version all the way back when it was just 1.2 and duke fishron was considered the final boss)

I genuinely think terraria is the greatest indie game ever

I play journey mode because I wanna BUILD. And unless I'm playing Summoner for the 4739th time, I frequently have to drop what I'm doing to get the mobs to fuck off, especially in hard mode.
Also biome spread itself isn't the problem, it's the fucking hard mode V that ruins your world just because unless you prepare ahead of time.

my opinion is the opposite. game stops being fun around post-mech

you have way too much mobility which means every boss is just "circle kite it until it dies". and the actual process of circle kiting is pisseasy because you're using wings/ufo instead of a hook and/or double jump that actually requires brain activity beyond holding the spacebar

exploration (whenever its rarely needed post-mech) is also trivialized via pickaxes that mine 100 blocks per second and easy movement with no limitations

consequently the only way for the game to actually slow down progression is locking shit behind rare drops (biome mimic drops, biome keys, rod of discord, ankh shield/celestial shell/other endgame accessory ingredients here). so the game turns into a boss rush where none of the bosses feel different, with some monotonous grinding for drops in between

every major update has just made the power creep worse. 1.0 was good, 1.1 still good since the wings were shit and combining 20 random drops wasnt needed to make endgame items, and then 1.2 and 1.3 fucked it

looking at calamity and fargos being as popular as they are though i guess this shit is what people want

Yeah, I like it a lot
Played it last year with my older brother and sister and we had a lot of fun but we also argued a lot because we were playing on hard mode and things went really bad multiple times
