Preferences are axiomatic. I like the taste of chocolate because I just do. I like autistic subsystems because I just do. The issue is that all the pseuds on this website think they can call a complex game "bloated," list things that contribute to its complexity, and come out the other side as "objectively" right.

I'd rather have a board of people who play and enjoy games than a bunch of brown saars saying "shill" to each other every second. When you consider that the first thing thirdies saw when they got internet access for the first time was ragebait, clickbait, engagement bait and basically every kind of bait imaginable, it begins to make more sense why they're like this. They literally think it's normal to behave that way. Even back in the early to mid 2000s thirdies were more well behaved, even if not by much, typically because forums wouldn't put up with their incessant trolling and would get booted from communities very quickly just for being dishonest and annoying.

this thread is an example why shitposting happens. the people posting off topic have realized that the people here arent here for discussion. they are here to do the internet equivalent of hanging out with your friends repeating your favorite lines from a movie you all enjoyed.
Its why baneposting was huge.
Nobody wants to hear why the game they liked sucked actually. They came for the hugbox because theres no point in having serious discussions about something that isnt really important.

Not true, I like stuff like Underrail but I'll also be the first to admit that, for an RPG:
>the writing is shit
>normal is balanced to be too easy
>hard is balanced to make people who finished normal stop playing
>not having a respec system is fucking retarded and forces you to throw away several hours on a character because you accidentally put one point in the wrong skill at the wrong time
>combat is way too slow when it involves more than 4 enemies
>you can't make a build that doesn't specialize in crafting the shit you want to use forcing you to spec 7 int on everything from the start
>the only way to figure out how to build a character is to restart several times until you finally figure out the right order of skill progression
>half the fights early game are a matter of "oh, I got CC'd, time to reload for the 30th time"
>final fight is comically easy once you understand how it works
>fighting anything with psi abilities when you don't have any turns the fight into "if I don't kill the psycher first turn, I have to reload because I'll be CC'd into a 2 turn death"
But I still have 200+ hours in it.

Feelings come first.
Arguments are nothing but explanations for that feeling.
You like/dislike thing first, then you explain why through argument.
If argument bad and someone refutes you, but your opinion doesn't change, then your argument simply didn't reflect why you felt that way.

B-but I liked thing is perfectly ok to feel. You're just high huffing your own farts on why YOU feel differently because you can articulate better. But those arguments you've brought are subjective. Since there's no objective standards, all you've done is dunk on some retard who couldn't properly tell you why he likes thing, and you mistake that for thing being bad.

Deadbeat niggers doing this kill discussion worse than the "i liked it though" niggers because they get upset far more than the former when someone doesn't entertain their powerplay masturbation argument.

I mean it's all subjective opinion, but the problem I see with that is that they're not articulating anything that can be discussed, like qualifying or quantifying what you liked. There's the same problem with any post saying "the writing/gameplay/character design is shit", because that tells me nothing about the game, just that you didn't like it. Even then, the thing one person likes about it can simultaneously be what ruins it for someone else because, again, it's all subjective.

When Fallout 3 came out I used to try to argue with anons for hours on /v/ that just because they enjoyed playing it doesn't make it a good game or a good Fallout game

I can remember getting all sweaty trying to gently steer them back toward the matter at hand and they'd just reply "But I liked it though. Are you saying I didn't have fun?" and I'd have to start all over from scratch saying "No, of course not, but just because you found something fun doesn't make it good" and giving reductio ad absurdam examples of things that are fun but not good, and then they'd just reset again. I think this was a valuable life lesson, because from then on I stopped trying to convince people of things past a certain point, or caring if they personally are convinced. My autistic brain updated its journal and learned that you should just focus on saying the truth to the best of your abilities, and make a good faith effort to convince, but who gives a shit if the random guy you're talking to agrees or not in the end.

Fun is extremely subjective and ignoring glaring flaws by going ''LA LA LA LA I CAN'T HEAR YOU~~" not only discredits using Fun as an argument as insincere, but it shows ignorance in its purest form like a pig writhing in a pile of mud and shit, to anybody else the smell of pig shit and the conditions the pig's living in are putrid are that, putrid, but to the blissfully ignorang pig, he's happy. Using ''muh fun'' is just 1 step close from admitting you like being like the pig, all it takes is admitting it and that's something i see a concerningly high amount of people struggle with.

The point here is that a lot of people don't have the mental capacity to admit they are wrong and simple-minded, and would double down on stupid shit or default to the typical ''uhhh cope and seethe'' responses when they cannot simply admit and concede.
Like trying to convince a Vegetafag their character is a fucking jobber but instead of admitting they like a manlet jobber, they start doubling down.

Maybe, but when i think of complex games, i think of games that put you with a single task and you can tackle that shit in a multitude of ways, or you have a tool that does one thing, but depending on what you hit with said thing, different shit happens, and not shit like fighting games where one character has to do mumbo jumbo joystick motions to do an anti air move with hardly noticeable frame data between its variables while another character just has it on less inputs.

I like being like the pig. Video Games are a plaything for me to enjoy and nothing more

I don't engage with posts I deem to be of inferior quality or made in bad faith.

But what if my definition of fun is to shit on people's games and be a bully that likes to point out the flaws of your favorite videotoy in order to decrease its appeal? Furhtermore, what if me making others miserable is unbound and completely wrong by base-less projections of my personal life made by funfags as i live a normal life outside of the internet?
And what if, just as you have your fun with a very flawed and broken shitty game, i have fun ridiculing your trash?
If i am to be wrong for having fun shitting on /v/ermin, that would mean you are also in the wrong for having fun playing a shitty game.

I don't like fighting games either, but there are people who do. For them, those imputs are probably a way of demonstrating their skill. For me they're tedious, but I don't consider my opinion on the matter "objectively" correct.
Now on the other hand, I like character optimization in Pathfinder:WotR. I suppose I feel good solving how to make a character concept work out, like it's a demonstration of my skill. Lots of people will instead find it tedious.
Now maybe it makes sense to return to what you said before: complexity for its own sake. I think the complexity is what makes these things better. They are better because they are complex. Simplifying them takes away their appeal to the interested demographic.

Giving it a second thought, i think my problem is not complexity for the sake of complexity, it's unintuitive complexity and hell it does not have to be purely for complex shit. Simple mechanics like jumping in a paltformer can be made into the most unintuitive unfun shit ever.
>Simplifying them takes away their appeal to the interested demographic
Now this is the real truth nuke i'll concede, if only because i've seen so many franchises do away with the cool shit that made said franchises stick get removed for appeal's sake.

>or you have a tool that does one thing, but depending on what you hit with said thing, different shit happens
This is fighting games with the tool being your attacks and the thing being different characters that might have better or worse anti-air

Kill anyone who's ever liked a single video game

I was thinking shooting games more than fighting games, Turok 2 has a cool shotgun that acts as the typical shotgun, but it fires rebounding projectiles and sometimes shooting the floor causes so much chaos and can shit on a lot of enemies.

Liking doesn't mean good or fun, so what is OP's point?

Mega cope. And if you weren't willing to have your games and taste be criticized, what right do you have to criticize others?

>Anon thinks the developer he's never met is his friend, or worse he thinks he's part of the dev team.
>The slightest criticism of the game is perceived as a personal attack
