What the fuck was that cowboy LARPer thinking

>Okay, i want to borrow from that first DMC game since it had a really cool atmosphere
>But i also want to blend a lot of the exploration that has become iconic to the franchise
>Wait, what do you mean i only have like 1/4 of budget
All in all, i still find LoI a pretty commendable effort.

Budget could be an excuse for things like the atrocious character models, but there's nothing excusable--much less commendable--about the dogshit level design.

I don't know what to tell you OP, I thought it was pretty good
>THEN I WILL KILL THE NIGHT

Finally got around to playing this. What a piece of shit. Fucking empty ass side story where literally nothing at all happens. I WISH I was playing Lament of Innocence instead.

It had a bunch of fun one liners.
Simple combat but honestly I can't really hate the game.
Curse of Darkness is my personal favorite however.

>How hard can it be to design 3D games?
He and his team probably had very little 3D experience and Castlevania has rarely gotten decent budgets. Plus, unlike the 2D games which take advantage of past titles to fill up on content like reusing enemies, these had to be made entirely from scratch. The level design is embarrassingly lazy but considering those couple of rooms with platforming, maybe it's for the best they didn't make that a bigger focus.

Not worth a (You).

But it's there on the screen. I can see it. You wouldn't have posted it if it wasn't for me.

It's a capable PS2-era action game. Not amazing. But not bad either. Much better than Curse of Darkness or whatever it is that released afterwards. Kino soundtrack and an overall pleasant experience.

Somehow your post makes me believe this game gotta be the best DS game if it made you mald this hard. I tend to notice the less rational the post it, the more likely the opposite of what its saying is probably true.

Playing this too and I feel like I'm constantly having to interrupt the gameplay to change stuff in the glyph menu, even with the three loadouts. Also while the promo art is beautiful the game itself just looks kind of ugly. The level design also sucks.

In what sort of Asmongold/streamer voice are you picturing me screaming into my keyboard? I paid for the game, I don't love it, it's alright at best. You will read my rant whether or not you like it. But for years I've seen anons say OoE was their favorite (with no context or descriptions or reasonings why, which is always your first clue). I'll tell you why cute female protagonist.

>omg I'm playing Castlevania with as a cutie pie, teehee

I like the irregular level sizes in the beginning (turns out it's the entire game!)
I like the weapon combo system
I like some of the new enemies
Music is solid
Everything else I dislike, this game is actual poo

>It's a capable PS2-era action game
There are like a dozen much better such games on the PS2, though. LoI is dull by any standard.

It's got a lot of flat empty hallways (which IGAVania doesn't) and something is lost with breaking apart majority of the games zones into smaller maps instead of one large one (there is still a large one so don't worry), but it's got much tighter combat/boss encounters and some honest-to-god level design sprinkled to make up the difference. It's personally one of my favorites.

I'm sure but I was pretty hard on the game when I first played it and warmed up toward it when I replayed it two years back. Music and atmosphere play a big part in my enjoyment of a game. Nothing about it felt offensively bad from what I can remember.

There's something to be said about appreciating the b-tier games.

Every single iga game is mediocre with potential but weak execution and plenty of excuses
t. was only interested in cv for the metroidvania and didnt like classicvania but did a 180 and realized classicvania are the only good ones, also the best metroidvania is cotm without iga involved

>classicvania are the only good ones
I mean they're far better sure. But, I didn't hate my time with Aria/Dawn of Sorrow when they released back in the day.
