>>724134979It looks like their strategy was to make all the buildings really simple and combine them all into one relatively low-poly mesh, which is fast to render on the notoriously draw-call limited switch 1, and then only stream in smaller props, decorative parts of the buildings, and characters/pokemon that are closer to the player. The player speed is also limited since you can't ride pokemon this time, which reduces issues with loading not finishing in time.
