why cant any CRPG be as interesting as Fallout 1 ?
>>
>>724136709
Because Fallout, funnily, didn't waste your time with a lot of dialogue and just let the setting speak for itself, and most crpgs can't shut the fuck up, aren't good, or are set in some dnd or fallout ripoff world that's uninteresting to begin with.
>>
>>724136709
Why trans people keep putting random letters in front of rpg
>>
>>724136709
you probably haven't played them
Geneforge games, Age of Decadence, and Ultima 7 all have interesting worlds/characters
Also play fallout Sonora and Resurrection
>>
Fallout 2 is better
>>
>>724136868
its not. its a whacky theme park.
it has its moments but it feels way less cohesive and the unique characters arent nearly as memorable. except for that lesboid vault city leader that is hateable and the mutant i remember no one. also mutants becoming "we didnt du nufin" was a bad decision.

Are there any other CPRG's like Fallout anyhow? I really like the turn based combat with the variety of guns used.

Most CRPG's are usually fantasy medieval stuff.
>>
>>724136826
The term "CRPG" existed way before you came out of your dad's nutsack (well, unless your dad is a tranny then I'm sorry for misgendering xer).
>>
>>724137168
Wasteland series. Wasteland 1 was the post-apocalyptic RPG Interplay made before Fallout.
>>
>>724136856
i tried age of decandence.
if you are going to be this clunky and scaled out you better have something else that hooks me.
it doesnt have it. generic setting with bad presentation.
>>
>>724137168
wasteland, underrail, atom rpg, encased, broken roads, krai mira
If you like turn bases shooting you should also play tactics games. Jagged Alliance 2/3 and Silent Storm/Sentinels
>>
>>724136709
the longer i played this the more pissed off i got
its so fkn r*ddit coded
you cant be evil at all. only edgy at times and doing that breaks the game completely since you can farm out all the hot spots.
>>
>>724136868
F2 was a rush job and it shows.

>>724137168
There was an Australian one that, instead of using the post-apocalypse, used space aliens instead. Never made it past a demo, though, unfortunately.
>>
>>724137417
>its so fkn r*ddit coded
Belgians are just like that, their games have been written like this before Reddit even existed.
>>
>>724137483
This. I like the original Divine Divinity, but the writing and humor are bafflingly Reddit for a game made in 2002.
>>
>>724136709
Underrail and atom rpg scratch that itch for me, looking forward to infusion
>>
>>724137417
You can be a legit psycho murderer in BG3 but it feels immensely less rewarding and uncomplete compares to a good playthrough
>>
>>724138302
havent played BG 3 yet
my PC isnt good enough
>>
>>724138487
if it can run DOS2 it can probably handle BG3 on low
>>

>>
>>724136826
when you said"roleplaying" back in the 80s and 90s you meant actual table top roleplaying and didn't need to clarify further, and video game rpgs at time were called "computer rpgs" because table top rpgs was the norm. Now video game rpgs are more popular than table top ones so when you say roleplaying or rpg you're talking about a video game, but the most popular ones are more casual rpgs like Elder Scrolls, so CRPG is just a way of refering to video game rpgs that play like the ones from the 80s and 90 to distant them from the modern "standard" rpgs.
>>
>>724137168
play Rogue Trader anon, the combat does get ridiculous later on but killing entire squads of enemies with a bolter burst never stop feeling good
>>
>>724136709
For me Fallout is the most boring, uninteresting and overrated series in the history of gaming.Isometric CRPGs are also terrible most of the time. Owlkek games have bad gameplay and everything else that came out the past decade is pozzed to hell and back. Theres nothing good about this genre.
>>
>>724136856
resurrection is shit. vegas and salt lake city should have been cut and focused around new reno and its orbiting satellite locations
>>
>>724136709
This game was created by a homosexual
>>
>>724139768
You are thinking of Nevada but I agree with your criticisms 100%
1.5 Resurrection is a small and focused mod closer in size to fallout 1
>>
>>724138651
i tried it. its passable but to many annoying stutters. its an amd card so im jewed out of the market
>>
>>724140028
Tim Cain was one of the core team members but he was a closet homosexual and everyone was calling each other faggot since it was the 90s.
they didnt know he was unironically a fag
>>
>>724141167
>they didnt know he was unironically a fag
And yet still worked with him long after it was known he was a homosexual
>>
>>724141312
well overtime they became heterosexual faggots themselves. look at Josh Sawyer. a prototypical r*ddit faggot that sniffs his own farts so hard its turning his eye balls yellow.

also im not categorically against working with faggots. Oscar Wilde was an S-tier homosexual.
there is a difference between homosexuality in itself and the social construction vile abomination of repulsive expression that is the leftoid sphere around homosexuality. im not a knuckle dragging reactionary despite being against homos as a default.

Belgians are one of those weird goofy goober cultures that only ever fought wars against white people, which are pretty civil affairs, all in all.
I guess never facing demonic hordes from hell basically turns your entire culture into a bunch of quirk chunguses.

>>
>>724136709
your enjoyment of things depends on a lot of factors, many of which cannot be replicated
you will never be 12 years old, just coming home from school on a cold autumn afternoon sitting in front of your humming pentium with the warm glow of a crt blasting the fallout intro into your face as you cozy up to be fully engrossed by a slow, but ultimately rewarding, interactive story with graphics and cool, meaty, gory combat because your brain hasn't been fried by modern infinite content dispensers and your innocence and ability to enjoy life haven't been broken and buried under the weight of a wasted, disappointing life
>>
On one hand I really wish there'd be another Darksun game. On the other hand I don't think there is a single developer out there right now who'd have the guts or talent to pull it off.
Not in a way that wouldn't be highly compromised.

Fallout 1 is objectively superior bcs of its setting, aesthetic design, atmosphere and compelling interactions with the world.

what you are doing is just corny r*ddit social construction that only has to be plausible to pass the believability test. its anti intellectual and it proliferates the thinking patters of faggots. it is also a censorship tool that muddies the evaluation mechanisms of integrity and aesthetic ambitions.

>>724137417
Hot garbage. They reallyw went down the shitter IMO after Divinity 2. That one was their last good game.

The issue is that turn-based is really easy to pull off. Try that with real-time combat. They will shit themselves because that actually requires work, effort, skill, and most importantly - time and resources. So you have this turn-based slop being produced at ungodly rates just to satisfy pseuds and posers.

Because Fallout 1 is a profoundly boring and shallow game for anyone that actually is well-acquainted with the genre. You'll never be satisfied, never be intrigued because you've fallen in love with a myth,. An ideal. Something that isn't remotely real. FO1 wasn't good by even 1997 standards, and it's been BTFO even more by the progress of time, but you'll never actually be able to enjoy all those things because it won't match up with the version of FO1 that's in your head, which isn't the FO1 that exists in reality.

Fallout 2 is absolutely better, and the fact that people spout otherwise is a quick and blatant way to out themselves as secondaries. The system changes alone make it a better game, but all the actual standard content is massively improved as well. It was staggering playing through the two of them, and finding out that Fallout 1 has dialogue choices that match fucking Fallout 4 in number, quality, and failure in allowing the player to characterize their Vault Dweller, and then you get to the first village of Klamath in Fallout 2, and the dialogue choices in these regards are better than literally--and I do mean LITERALLY--every conversation in Fallout 1.

But oh you can share funny meme lines from screenshots, and because we're all a bunch of secondary fucking retards that'll never actually play these games, we'll just base it entirely off the screenshots.

>>
>>724150342
I definitely agree about the spin offs after Fallout 2, they unironically almost completely killed Fallout as an IP before being purchased by Bethesda. But I don't understand why Chris hates Fallout 2 so much.
>>
>>724150872
he sees how little cohesion it has. how it watered down the industrial aura of doom. how fkd its pacing is.

he might also be forever bitter about the fallout 3 he worked on for like 5y+ that was canned bcs of the Bathesda buyout
>>
>>724150872
Must be the theme parks they had various people doing. Or maybe he really hates civilization in post-apocalypse real hard because that's the one thing standing out between 1&2.
>>
>>724150872
I'd be pissed too if I made the only good parts of fallout 2 (reno, vault city) while everyone else dropped the ball with shit like chinatown
>>
>>724151021
>the fallout 3 he worked on for like 5y+ that was canned
Tbf that really must have been pretty devastating for him, at least he got to reuse a lot of the ideas from that game in New Vegas

just imagine today someone proposing the idea to make "real clay craft heads" and then scanning them into the game
>>
>>724152719
I wonder what happened to all the clay sculptures that were used for the games. Are they still stored somewhere or are they all gone
>>
>>724136709
Fallout 1 was a good RPG in the sense that it was open ended, had interesting quests and locations, and had multiple ways to go about things. It was also relatively compact and tightly paced. No other cRPG really nails that kind of quest design. If you dip into WRPGs, KCD felt similar to me in terms of having that kind of quest design, although it's a much bigger game.
>>
>>724136709
Fallout 1 is lame. It's not even an original setting, just Wasteland game that's gone too far.
>>
>>724149443
>The system changes alone make it a better game
If you weren't a secondary you'd just play Fallout 1 in 2 and get the best experience. But you go ahead and enjoy 20 minutes of waiting on everyone to take their turn in the casino shootout while you're talking deathclaw friend makes jokes and Mike Tyson is on stage.
