>>724147296
>Poor Lestat
Yes. That is how fiction works, at least if you're a writer who can be swayed AT ALL by public opinion. Same thing with movies and games too. You write a villain but your audience loves him so you have to find a way to bring him back for the sequel. Resident Evil did it, The Terminator did it too.

The only way to avoid this is being an absolute hardass about artistic integrity and having a SET IN STONE outline for the future of that series.

Fuck.
I am almost sure my first pick back in 2005 was a Nos, because at that point I knew essentially fuck all about VtM and Nosferatu were the only ones I knew something about via the popcultural osmosis.
But the first character I've actually *beaten* the game with was a Tremere.

Well if nothing else I know there's a clear structure to the world I'm getting involved in. My odds of surviving are probably better than they would be with any other clan. All I have to do is remain professional and follow orders for a while until I get the hang of thins.
>>
I still remember playing this back in 2005 on a P3 with 512MB RAM. It was a laggy, choppy mess and every time a new zone had to be loaded I needed to wait for 2-3 mins. And I still had a blast. Modern games don't deserve such patience.
>>
>>724149895
>that's only in the plus patch
because obviously when a guy dies you wouldn't be able to search his body afterwards in the vanilla game
>>
>>724147348
Yeah I used the TPG for a long time. It's a bit outdated at this point as it only works on Windows 7 but there's a version fixed up for Windows 10 if you want it.

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1jhApzLHOp0oCSa4FWzxCvsVfivWywGM2/view

The Unofficial Patch includes some pretty big QoL changes though like no longer getting stuck on doors and in general better game performance. Check your VtMB > bin > loader folder for vtmb-tweaks.ini for those extra fixes too. It used to come with the Unofficial Patch but it seems like the recent version of the basic patch didn't install it.

I'm working on my own custom patch because even the TPG inserts some custom content and unnecessary changes although it's much milder than the UP, but it still frustrated me. Hope to be able to release it soon. Actually just keeping everything vanilla and only fixing things.

>>
>>724150626
the knife in the vanilla game was enough to carry you for a while, even just punching enemies would carry you without any points in melee if you just used blood buff. not sure why you have to get all sarcastic and retarded just because i pointed out something you mentioned is only in the plus patch because not everyone will be playing it.

The action isn't strictly terrible - very sticky, though, lots of start up and endlag on every attack and enemies just stand in place so it's really unexciting - but the third person camera is fucking abysmal, it straight up can't handle a lot of interior areas.
I go firearms every playthrough but still just use a knife until shotgun because that revolver fucking stinks. You do chew through all of your money buying ammo during the "kill everyone" ending, mind.

True that the defensive one would be more useful there, but the bosses in this game aren't much of anything and Domination pulls double duty on stealth, trancing everyone and everything to run through them.

You see him dressing down his elder vampire council, he's not polite for the sake of it, but he's all about borderline grooming you and giving you a bunch of free shit when you get results.

The problem with a cop is that you can't just quit and rejoin the force when it's obvious you're not aging after 20-30 years. They have a hard expiry date and ghouls don't just go quietly, you need to make them disappear if you're done using them, which is... problematic, because they're cops. Same problem with doctors. Hence the only vampire clued in doc in VTMB is exactly the one type of doc every vampire wants to be best friends with.

You probably just want a Mercurio. Someone good at getting connections but isn't really formerly tied to any organization and is as comfortable working in the shadows as you are. Can keep you just as informed of any potential Sabbat bullshit that needs taking care of as a cop can and is better at arming you.
Or maybe just like a decent investment guy since that's not really a formal thing either and can fund your NEET bullshit life in exchange for eternal youth and vigor, which most investment guys are very fond of, very easy sell on that one. Or both. I don't think there's really a limit on how many ghouls you can have, they're just mildly annoying.

If you have a ghoul cop, just have them fake their death at some point or be involved in a crime that takes their badge away but is not too horrific (excessive force on a criminal, they get discharged and now they join some secret mafia network instead.)
>>
>>724159704
Yeah there's a whole quest in VTMB about taking out a gossipy doll and what a bad idea it is. Otherwise, like ghouls, you can do it if you want to, but they're your responsibility now. Make a bad choice and you gotta take them out - and worse, other vamps are going to judge you for having shitty taste.

Could be worse. They were boring in Bloodlines (animalism might be fun but I did protean instead which kinda sucked) but in terms of the TTRPG there's a good spread of disciplines and my sire at least won't use me in some scheme I have no chance of surviving, although I'll probably die because I committed some faux pas my sire didn't tell me about because he fucked off. At least I'm not a brujah or a nosferatu. If I could choose I'd choose Ventrue or Tremere but I'm too much of a loser to actually survive in that kind of place.

This reminds me, why the fuck aren't the gangrel in VTMB2? They wanted to make a stealth action game and they didn't include the clan which has protean, a perfect discipline for someone who only uses their own body in combat. They could add claws, shapeshifting, mist form, melding into the earth for stealth/healing... it's the perfect discipline for the game they made... It's also perfect for a character who calls themselves "the nomad" who apparently values independence.

It's far from "most" of the dialogue only being something you'd understand on your second run. There really isn't the overwhelming amount of foreshadowing that people make it out to be. >Without going into stuff like entire divisions of the technocracy being in space being corrupted by space satan (with no one being the wiser) and doing who the fuck knows what
The void engineers are fighting Threat Null, but regardless it's not exactly the technocracy's fault. The Syndicate's special projects division would be a better example because they are consorting with the wyrm because it makes the numbers go up
>Technocracy is that it massively diverted from its own original goals, which seems less and less attainable by the years
That depends on how you play it. You could say that they are losing ground because of an anti-intellectual, anti-science turn in culture and the re-emergence of all sorts of traditionalist bullshit that they thought they buried from vaccine skepticism to new age stuff gaining popularity and of course them getting fucked from the avatar storm. But even if you take a very negative view of them they are still largely in charge and largely in control, and their goal remains the same. Create a consensus reality that's generally free from supernatural terrors and create a steady march of progress where science and technology improve the lives of average people and that has never changed.
>a bloated, corrupted, corrupting, soulless megacorp
Kinda, but again it depends on how you want to spin it. The convention books play into that as well. I remember the NWO one (or maybe iteration X) say something like "you may have heard horror stories about brainwashing and behavior chips but that's mostly just traditionalist propaganda". The revised books also present a more idealistic view. from the progentiors revised book:
>The Technocracy is sick.Look at the Union. The Dimensional Anomaly didn’t just cut us off at the metaphorical head; it left infections in our body politic...Yes, the Technocracy is sick. But we’re here to make it better. Not just well, but better than it was.

Depends on the friend. If they have a family you probably wouldn't want to take that away from them with an embrace. Ghouling could be cool though, if they have useful skills anyways. Otherwise it is much better to let go of your former life as soon as possible so it doesn't become a problem.

>>724174650
In lore, they are easier to Bloodbond, are made to drink a mixture of all of the high-ups vitae to start(but not complete) the bloodline which still makes them more loyal. They are also not trusted among other clans.
At one point a long time ago the people who would become Tremere were mages, but once they managed to complete their ritual to become vampires it turns out they lost access to all of their magic. So they had to create a new, weaker form of magic, Blood Magic or Thaumaturgy. Then, in order to become a real clan their main guy diablerized(that means draining a vampire of all of their blood and their soul) one of the kindest of the Antedilluvians, Saulot. They then started an information campaign to make the Salubri look like they were demonic soul stealers. This worked well and in modern times the Salubri barely exist at all, and are only a bloodline rather than a clan since they lack an Antedilluvian.
>>
>>724173219
Isn't that a masquerade breach?
>>
>>724174650
Tremeres were mages who went "no, fuck magic, it's getting out of style anyway, we'll drink blood instead" and became vampires, losing their magic in the process, as they are no longer human. The Tremere boss then diablerized (i.e eat the soul) of an Antedeluvian to get more powerful, and then systematically erased the genocided of that Antedeluvian. Then they started stealing vampire magic from everyone else, and killing everyone who knew more vampire magic than them (this includes Tzimische, Assamites, Setites, etc). Then they told everyone they were the only real clan to know vampire magic, as they killed everyone else who knew it.

As a Tremere, you're mind controlled by the other Tremere to do Tremere thing, it's called the Pyramid. The mind control has been going on for so long the clan has a weakness to mind control, which is kind of their clan curse.

>>

The realistically possible endings include Sabbat being largely kicked out of the vicinity and Kue-jin being completely non-existent on the coast. Even if you were a dick to Anarchs but didn't actually do anything bad to them, they won't care. Camarilla would keep tabs on you in case someone (like a new prince) needs an asset outside of the usual means and rosters. It's far from being as bleak as you're painting.

The Salubri are a reminder that Saulot exists. Tremeres rewrite history constantly - nowadays they killed enough vampires and stole so much magic that they can tell they're the only vampire clan with magic, and so it is written in the book. Just needed a little bit of history rewritting.

The Tzimisce swere pretty decent dudes before the Tremeres got to them, now they're foaming at the mouth berserk about anything the Tremere touches. It's really the reaction of all clans having interacted with Tremeres for a time.

Anarchs hate Cammies.
Their whole thing is allowing kindred to have absolute freedom without any elder breathing down your neck, as long as you're not going full retard that is.
Since you yourself admit that you "don't fit the criteria of a Ventrue" makes you even more likely to be picked up by Anarchs.

Entirely untrue, elder brujahs dislike ventrues because muh carthage but overall the anarch movement doesn't give 2 shits about clan origins. as in any organization, ventrue that make their way into the anarchs tend to rise into positions of leadership.

the issue is that it's a popular clan + sect affiliation for girlboss players in the tabletop

They'll probably just slap a cursory Acolyte title on you and put you on perpetual probation until you prove you're either useful or something to be expended. Your sires the fucked one, that dumb mofo just lost a lot of pyramid traction embracing an unknown, which is a fate worse than death to most Tremere.

Tremere is just a lot of work. They're just never going to leave you alone, you're always going to be doing something for someone until you're high enough in the pyramid, and there's a lot of glass ceilings in place to make sure that never really happens. You're going to be overworked and exhausted for the next few hundred years, have fun.

>Caine is just a vampire he cant do that/
Even relatively high gen (bigger number, further from Caine) vampires can do funny things. One of the 6+ dominate powers lets you control your descendants for example. Low gen vampires can do very funny things. For example there's a Malkavian 4th generation vampire that feeds on true names and concepts instead of blood. Baba Yaga (Nossie, 4th gen) created a "shadow curtain" around the soviet union (more or less) that fucked with all the supernatural stuff. The antediluvians are naturally more capable. The most famous one is Ravnos with the week of nightmare plot. He devoured most of his descendants, went on a rampage, fought all sorts of mighty supernatural, got nuked, got (((technocratic))) space laser'd and finally died. Malkav is probably the madness network. The Gangrel antedeluvian merges with the earth in one of the gehenna scenarios. I think Lasombra becomes the abyss and blots out the sun for a while. Read the Gehenna scenarios book if you want to know more. Point is as you get closer to Cain you get stupid powerful so if Cain says you have the power of a millennia old low gen vampire even though you got embraced yesterday that's that.

Maybe in theory a powerful low gen vampire could become the god king of somewhere. Or maybe just depopulate the earth to reduce humanity to a manageable herd like in the good old days. Like with mages, the problem is their peers who have their own plan. In the case of vampires, their childer are also a problem. Vampires always sire childer, and those childer are weaker and dumber and maybe more ruthless and they don't appreciate being exposed to angry angry mortals. They would also partake of your delicious Methuselah blood at the first opportunity. Secrecy is the most powerful weapon in any vampire's disposal. Doing away with it is just not worth it and you'd have to be pants on head retarded to not see that.
>>

The Sabbat with their organization built like a dark death cult version of Catholicism with an anti-pope and bishops, the ones who lean into the supernatural nature of WoD and the mythologies of the bible and the antediluvians, the ones who shaved off their humanity and embrace the idea of being predators and monsters instead of parasites like the Camarilla,, seekers of transcendence and Golconda, and embrace a dark enlightenment understanding that they are evil and damned is so fucking cool bros. >What's the ideal, most stable alongside true to the original experience for Bloodlines 1 way to play?
I would suggest firearms over melee for a smoother late game experience. Both are viable but firearms becomes powerful with only a few points. You should also get comfortable with stealth for the best outcomes. Social stats are also fun. Persuasion is the best. That's the TL;DR version. For clans:
>brujah
I never cared about them.
>Gangrel
My first playthrough. I remember Protean being kinda shitty. It buffs your melee combat potential. Animalism is kinda neat. Fortitude is very straightforward to understand.
>Malkavian
More demanding because your character is insane. It can be fun to try and understand what they are thinking/saying but it requires you to pay attention. Would make for a very exciting first playthrough but if you're not into it you'll struggle. Dementation is similar to Dominate in gameplay terms but with cooler flavor. Obfuscate is also useful. My favorite clan.
>Nosferatu
The thing about being forced into the sewers is a meme just don't walk right into any of the randoms on the street. Obfuscate is good. Certainly makes the stealth sections a breeze. Animalism is cool but I never experimented with it too much. Potence is okay I guess.
>Toreador
Celerity is like that scene in the matrix. Very cool with firearms. Presence is kind of a boring discipline in the sense that you don't really feel you're doing something. You activate it and your enemies get debuffed. You get to have unique dialogue options with presence though. Auspex buffs your firearm skills and gives you xray vision. Boring. This is a great clan for a first playthrough
>Tremere
blood magic. Powerful at later levels.
>Ventrue
A fantastic clan. Great flavor when your clan is brought up. Dominate is great fun. It gives you several abilities that are useful in stealth and open combat, along with additional dialogue options. You also get presence and fortitude.

>>724208781
>Get hit doubly when they fail to keep up with their humanity or feed the beast because they feel too deeply like high school girls
>Obsessive to an almost creepy, incel-like behavior where they latch onto their ghouls/blood-dolls/childe's like they are simps coveting cam girls.
>Want to feel more human than all of the other clans who understand they are monsters.
Toreadors are doubly cursed. Everyone else can just live their unlife normally, but Toreador are beholden to their emotions. No thanks, I don't want to be akin to a Social Media girl for the rest of time.

It's honestly okay. I finished the whole thing in 3 days I think. 18 hours and I only did a couple of side missions which sucked. "I kept playing it" is the most enthusiastic endorsement I can muster. The story is kinda dumb but it's not bad and I wanted to know what's next. The combat is not exciting 99% of the time but I didn't dread it either but only after I turned down the difficulty to normal. The characters aren't cringeworthy but I can't say I liked them either. I liked Lou and Ryong. Did not like the others, but mostly because I just didn't like their personalities rather than because they were bad characters. The on-rails Fabian sections were somewhat tedious but I didn't dread them.

it was okay. it was VTM so it was nice and familiar. it was okay.

if you're looking for VTM games check out the CYOA. Night Road is not bad. Parliament of Knives is less well known for some reason but I think it's better. There's also the VNs. There's only Shadows of New York really. I'm replaying it right now. It's kinetic but I remember the story being good. There's also Swansong which got a lukewarm reception but I've seen anons praise it lately. I will have to check that one out for myself.
