>>724146171wrong
>>724146441>But it is a portal. That's OP's point, they stopped caring about flavor and immersion. They just make soulless worlds where you fight rehashed assets now
>>724150016Why isn't there a summoning pool down there. God damn load of shit.
>>724146171>see a huge fucking bird/monster nest>curl into a ball YOLOvery inteligent game design much gameplay
The ways you venture to the DLC zones in the Dark Souls trilogy really annoy me.>DS1, small quest involving killing a randomly placed blue crystal golem in Dukes Archive, then a gold crystal golem in that lake with the hydra, talking to an NPC, and then portal to DLC zone>DS2, more portals! Two just sloppily placed after primal bonfires and one in the little "shrine of winter" on your way to Drangleic Castle. In DS2 vanilla, you could just go to the locations immediately. buying the DLC gave you DLC-keys at the start of the game. In Scholar, you have to find key items to access these areas.>DS3, Painted World of Ariandel is much like the Painted World in DS1 (being a portal you access through a painting), but accessing the Ringed City DLC is perhaps the laziest of all. At the Kiln of The First Flame, at the end of the game, they placed an additional bonfire that acts as a portal to send you to Dreg Heap. WHAT WERE THEY THINKING? Why did they turn this bonfire into a portal instead of just having some portal you touch?I wish these areas were integrated into the games better. I hate being portaled to a "far off land."
>>724150114When it stops selling millions to clapping seals is when From will stop making games like that.
>>724150792Thing is, DS1 and DS3 areas are time-based, not just 'another area' (DS1 being back in time in the same places you've been; and DS3 being the painting, and the other being entropy, the end of the world). So being 'teleported' makes sense. DS2 is just lazy (like the rest of the game).
>>724150792Dreg Heap is meant to be accessed from the end of Painted World. It's just that Friede is way harder than the normal game so didn't go that way.
>>724146171Elden Ring does have some cool transitions like the iron maiden at Raya Lucaria, the trap chests that send you to all kinds of weird places and the fuckhuge elevator in limegrave which takes you down to the underground
>>724150114I don't think that was such a big deal. For me the kill shot was dark souls 3. Having you teleport away from a hub to the first area was sovlless. I know, ds hub from the original game blah blah blah. Dark souls 1&2 introduced the interconnected worlds and going back to a hub was a huge mistake.
>>724151170DS2 is literally also time basedand just like in DS1 and DS3, the time based location is a run down shithole regardlessds3troons will really reach for anything these days huh
>>724153363>get btfo>uh...trannies!
>>724153515yeah thats me
>>724150792It's kind of silly to be upset at shoddy storytelling in a From game. What did you expect?
>far off land (same place just back in time)Lorelets are fucked in the head.
