20+ million is still a lot. I had a GameCube and a PS2 but the PS2 was in my room and the GameCube was in my little brothers room. Retrospectively I mostly remember playing Melee on it, but I do sort of remember playing Luigi’s Mansion, Chibi Robo, and Cel Damage I think—maybe that was on PS2. I know we owned Sunshine but I never remember playing it or seeing it be played. Since it was my little bros we mostly had shit games for it, like that Universal Studios game. Didn’t pay it much attention at the time. Same with the Wii, only really played the Wii sports games and Punch Out. The GameCube probably had a dozen super good games though whereas the Wii only has like five, including sports and resort and both Galaxy games.

I don't know how the 6th gen happened the way it did in our household in retrospect. Back then my older brothers eventually got an Xbox but we were on Gamecube AND Dreamcast really early on, never PS2. I actually didn't know shit about the PS2 until the early 2010s, after I had gone on to college. We had a PS1 in the 90s but I never touched a PS2 until 2012 when I bought my own to play Silent Hill 2 on it. I genuinely thought Gamecube was the popular console if you had asked me back in, oh, 2004? Perspective is a motherfucker.

The poorer parts of the world have basically only discovered video games in the late 90s, and the most prominent console at the time was the playstation.

Game cube lacked games. Company promised to release good rpg games, but they lied. Ps2 got tons of good games. Xbox was ok, but I couldn't buy it
