>Galactic Nova, but le REALISTIC So how's this hunking piece of shit gonna be important?
Winner of the race gets a wish
>>724181293>realistic textures on cartoon charactersI’m tired of this aesthetic but it was also never good. Sakurai uses it a lot but it’s also crept into Pokemon
>>724184494Can you articulate what's wrong with it?
>>724181293Are "Zorah" and the shadow racer guy the same entity or two different characters? I feel like that's gonna be key to working out what the story is about. I think Sakurai referred to Zorah as "inanimate" or something, so maybe the wish to Nova is going to be bringing it to life?
>>724184848Zorah is 100% possessing Dedede to become the shadow racer.
>>724181293so it's the same NOVA from KSS right? I thought it was destroyed?
>>724181293Looks surprisingly cool. It's like a 2000s CG render.
>>724185021I always assumed that even after they're destroyed, they can come back. Nova came back in KSSU's Meta Knight mode, but that might not be canon.
>>724184494>realistic textures on cartoon charactersI unironically kind of like it DEPENDING on how it's implemented. There's a sort of autistic appeal to it that I can't quite explain.I sort of liked it in brawl because the grittier style elevated the tone of the games atmosphere.
>>724183716Different character campaigns will lead to different wishes. Kirby will wish for food or something.Dedede will wish for tomboy cooch.Meta Knight will summon Galac-I mean Morpho Knight and fight him like a faggot.
>>724185134It reminds me of The Spirits Within.
>>724184494When something is that enormous it needs that amount of detail for when the characters approach it up close.
>>724184494It’s clearly being used to make nova creepier, it’s not random
>>724184494I think it's fine when it's a giant machine
>>724185021there are multiple clockwork stars and nova is just one of them. the one in planet robobot is a different entity entirely.however the one shown in air riders has the exact same design as in KSS so it may very well be the same one, who knows
>>724184494>realistic textures>pokemonpost 1 (one) example
>>724181293it's good to know samurai is one step ahead of prosafiagaming
>>724187803
>>724187932Would the world be a better place if that assassination happened or would someone else fill his shoes?
>>724187994huh, I did completely forget about thatplease accept my apologies
>>724184494Unicron from Transformers is the same idea. He's a planet sized robot that the regular characters can walk around on, so he has lots of extra detail so you can draw an environment on him when seen from the regular characters' perspectives.
>>724188243i really do wonder what the fuck they were thinking with that decision
>>724188551It's just the standard Hollywood retardation.
>>724187656Somehow Nova has returned.
>>724187994Basketball arms
>>724184619The brain has evolved to subconsciously recognize things that look out of place. That’s where the concept of the uncanny valley is derived from. It’s why Mario looks like shit when he’s put into Unreal Engine. The people who don’t see a problem with that would also not see the leopard stalking them through the grass 10000 years ago.>>724186975>>724187295>>724187625I’ll concede that this can be used well. It feels forced here to me because Sakurai is changing the established visual direction and I don’t think there’s a need to make Nova look creepier or more uncanny. It also doesn’t feel like they’re putting much thought into it, because you can see in the trailer that the cabling ports below Nova’s right eye don’t move even when the eyelid opens.>>724187803Sure
>>724188245This movie had a really great artstyle
>>724189224>"I don't really think this stylish clash is all that ba...">YOU ARE AN EVOLUTIONARY FAILURE
>>724189224>Sakurai is changing the established visual directionTo be fair, they gave Rick realistic fur.
>>724189224>It also doesn’t feel like they’re putting much thought into it, because you can see in the trailer that the cabling ports below Nova’s right eye don’t move even when the eyelid opens.I actually didn't notice that. Quite the oversight.
>>724181293The only thing that bothers me with that design despite how good it may look as a concept is that the thing was modeled like that, given all that detail with textures, even a ''gate'' in one of the eyelids near the iris that also opens up as it opens its eyes...just for those cables and pipes under one of the eyes to not interact with the movement of the eyelid and texture.
>>724184494I LOVE how I'm not allowed to say that SSBU looks worse than SSB4 because SSBU Mario's ass has realistic detailed textures and SSB4 Mario doesn't
>>724181293nova if he real
>>724191189I’m jesting, but I actually do wonder why those OoT UE “remakes” look good to other members of my species>>724191817Yeah Rick looks great in this game. I will probably main him if Taranza’s grapple isn’t as fun as it looks
>>724184619>Can you articulate what's wrong with it?im not him but i hate real life so much that if i see a trace of realism in a game im sickened by it. this is why im always shitting on people who like realistic games.
>>724181293That spaceship kind of looks like a cat face.
>>724181293>>724184494
>>724196219Are you on the spectrum.
>>724197613severely. unironically
>>724196365What are you talking about man? No, it doesn't.
>>724185021In Kirby Superstar Ultra, Metaknight fixes it so he can fight Galacta Knight
>>724187656Could be another one, but if it's the same one that was destroyed yet came back theoretically his left eye should not be able to open fully
>>724181293Given that Sakurai worked on both Super Star, Super Star Ultra and now Air Riders its pretty safe to say this was always the intention. Its a fucking planet sized clockwork cat god.Yes it'll have armor plating/panels/greebling.It looks great, not sure why you fags pretend to be mad. That aside he is why Zorah comes to life as the dark dedede racer.Zorah's unspoked wishes/dream to move on its own/live/inflict terror reaches the star rod. star rod revives nova. nova brings zorah to life.
>>724200820It's also worth noting that the only games which introduced the concept of multiple clckwork stars were post-sakurai
>>724185021Same one.Same gold color.Same damaged face plate over the left eye.Star Rod revives him in this game
>>724184494If something is going to be in 3D, I prefer for the thing to not have as much detail like scuffs and stuff. Imagine like a toy, but that's just life size. That's how I prefer my 3D realism
>>724201950doesn't really work that well with something as huge as nova.It needs at least some level of surface detailing.cars or bikes or crates are fine for minimum texturing, but not something at size of the moon or larger.
>>724187656>. the one in planet robobot is a different entity entirely.the one in robobot was built by haltmann. it's not a real clockwork star
>>724184494I think it fits as it emphasizes that Nova is a giant space station *made* to look like a cartoon character.
>>724202307I thought Haltmann stole/mechanized one and used it to create the ark whatever
>>724202431From what I recall, Star Dream was 100% Haltmann building a clockwork star of his own, following whatever blueprints/plans from a real star like NOVA.
>>724202307Do you have any proof to that? Or just assume such?Isn't stated that he found a halfbuilt clockwork star and was trying to finish building it by looting resources from planets as to revive his daughter susie? Not that he built it from scratch in full.
I think a more visually detailed NOVA is kind of necessary when you have such a large, plant sized model. The problem isn't that he's more "realistic", the issue is that the details are half hazardly tacked onto his body without much care or intention. Its just grime, dirt, and sporadically placed metal patterns with very little cohesion. It's a shame, because, otherwise, Air Riders visually looks fucking great. The art style is genuinely pleasing to look at. And not in a "let's pump the game with four gorrillan shaders and graphic effects" kind of way.
>>724202573hold onlet me dig a little. it's been a while since I've played Robobot.
>>724202805Holy shit, why did I place so many commas in the second half of my post? Oop.
>>724202805he's been flying through space for eons anon. He's going to be covered in a shit ton of debris from space.Plus got his arse kicked in hard by a pink orb 1/1,000,000 his own size. Then just hovered in the orbit around popstar for 30 years.Him looking grimy and dirty makes perfect sense. Same with him having tons of metal plates creating his face.>>724202859please do. But I'm pretty sure haltman stole a half finished Nova along with the star dream .exe/OS to finish building it as it revive his daughter.
>>724203158all right yeah. From what I'm reading is Star Dream is a different entity from the Access Ark, which is the machine with the NOVA face that Star Dream controls during the final boss fight. What I'm not seeing so far is the origin of the Access Ark.So as far as I'm seeing is yes, Haltmann did make Star Dream, but the Access Ark is a different matter and I'm not seeing anything that talks about its origins specifically. At least so far.
>>724181293>So how's this hunking piece of shit gonna be important?Well, he's obviously a map.
>>724203813was instantly recognizabl;e to me but i didn't want to believe till the ending reveal. very based decision.
Air Riders is surprisingly a mechaphile's wet dream. The transforming machine and the Dedede boss fight would make a transformer fan cum.
>>724181293I forgot what kirby game this guy was even from, but knew it looked familiar. Wasn't it from one of the ds games?
>>724181293It kind of bothers me that the eyes open but he's got little cables attached/going through the eyelids that stay in place
>>724204548wouldn't the vehicle destruction be their nightmare though especially since the Air Rides have loose consciousness?
>>724183716so twisted metal?
>>724181293He's probably responsible for cloning Zero Two like Star Dream did for Dark Matter
>>724204658super star on the SNES.then super star ultra on the ds as the remake. His '''brother'''' was star dream in planet robobot.>>724204664they have over a month to fix it by release. They can just make long slits in the eye lid even for it to be a super simply correction.just message them on the twitter about it.
>>724204683>LooseIt's not loose at all with the Wheelies, and it now dawns on me that the Kirbo brigade were smashing them to bits like any other air ride.
>>724205016sure. No one will argue that. But I don't recall serve, or wing, compact, etc did in the first game. The Warp Star can be argued to have loose consciousness too pending how cannonical the anime is, and consideration put to it being exactly where kirby needs it to move around levels or fight bosses like Nightmare.
>>724205016plus kirby already beats the shit out of wheelie and rex wheelie on the daily when they team up with dedede, haltmsn co. etc. They live for the fight
>>724203158>>724202573>>724202431>>724202431all right, so the best I can do, I think is from a Miiverse post from Kumazakihttps://wikirby.com/wiki/List_of_HAL_Laboratory_Miiverse_posts_-_Kirby:_Planet_Robobot"The name Star Dream came up just now. Could you tell us how Haltmann got his hands on the blueprints and technology for Star Dream?Others also noted that the Security Force blueprints bore similarities with Metal General from Kirby's Return to Dream Land, and the data for Holo Defense API resembled Pix from Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards. Could you tell us a bit about those?">"Haltmann travelled to numerous planets around the galaxy to collect their blueprints and technology. He may have gone to Halcandra, or perhaps to a planet with strong connections to it. As for Holo Defense API, Haltmann gained access to numerous different worlds after Susie was accidentally sent into another dimension and this is how he acquired that data."
>>724206418there's also line from haltmann in the game>"Absolutely incredible. Indeed. It's truly marvelous! We've analyzed the most advanced civilizations in the known universe. And with that knowledge, we have reactivated this... The Mother Computer... Star Dream."reactivated is a keyword here
>>724206418>>724206489like I said.He FOUND Star Dream and its paired NOVA in an unfinished state then worked on fully rebuilding them.
>>724206305>They live for the fightthey're stars so its their nature to burn out and die hard
>>724188551Because the Pokemon looking exactly like in the anime in the real world would look extremely retarded.
>>724207430Yeah, as we all know nothing good has ever come out of combining 2d animation and live action
>>724207430>roger rabbit looks retardno.you fags are so fucking dumb
>>724207881>>724208054I never said anything bad about WFRR, did I. It works fine with American-made cartoon characters, but not with anime characters. Imagine a live-action Sailor Moon where the Scouts and the villains/monsters were 2D while the rest of the people and everything else are live-action.
>>724208289Pokemon are animals, not humans and half of them are designed by americans anyway
>>724208289>I never said anything bad about WFRR, did Iyea cause you forgot about it when you typed that dumb ass post lmao>It works fine with American-made cartoon characters, but not with anime charactersautism
>>724208538>yea cause you forgot about it when you typed that dumb ass post lmaoSorry, didn't know I needed to assure you I wasn't being mean to Roger Rabbit by saying ANIME + live action doesn't work.
>>724208289this is cope.they pokemon are already fake shit cgi.they could have made the models look good at least.but they are fucking ugly besides pikachu.
>>724208642anime is just animation from japan, unless you mean to tell me all anime should look like sailor moon. japanese animators have been adapting western style cartoons ie tom and jerry for decades before you were born.anyway characters like roger rabbit works because he's a cartoon animal and cartoon animals work well in this format. wanna guess what pokemon art?
>>724208732I suppose they could have just used the models they made for the 3DS games, but you'd likely bitch and moan about those, too.
neco-arc if she galactic
>>724196365It's Konata
>Tortilding is the only Forgotten Land representation that we know ofGrim. What are the odds that Elfilin will be playable and Elfilis is a boss?
>>724189224top looks kinda bad but bottom also looks terrible, they just look like plastic toys
>>724209750Which is how Pokemon should always look like, they never had that shit in 2D, going 3D is what ruined the franchise.
>>724181293I don't fucking care what he looks like, does he have a newly-arranged theme???https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w9tWq6FIwzA
>>724210128The Nova stage showed off in the trailer used Marx's theme, but I assume this'll be remixed for the story mode when we inevitably fight it.
>>724210271what was the music playing during the end cutscene? some old remix? new?
>>724210386If it's a remix it's definitely new, but I don't recognize the melody from anything
