Did anyone actually side with the Imperials in their first playthrough? The game opens with the Imperials kidnapping you and marching you to your death just for crossing the border, then you watch them kill someone who wasn't even a rebel. Then the main quest has you working with the Blades who tell you how evil the Thalmor is, and then you go and infiltrate the Thalmor Embassy and get on their shitlist. It seems like the game does everything it can to make you HATE the Empire. The only thing they have going for them is Jarl Balgruuf since I hate having to kill him during Stormcloak playthroughs.
>>724198131>since I hate having to kill him during Stormcloak playthroughs.Huh?
>>724198796>never played skyrimPlay Skyrim.
>>724198131Yeah because I played previous ES games and felt like the imperials were being demonized hard at the start so people who played the previous games wouldn't immediatelt side with them
>>724199738>Yeah>because I played previous ES games
>>724199738Rightly so, though. The Imperials are objectively worse than the Stormcloaks.
>>724200206>But muh rabblerousing
>>724200161>old wolfy wants his Empire to die so I have to side with the retarded larpers NoThe Dominion is going to win the Second Great War regardless
>>724199738GAS GAS GAS MOTHERFUCKER!!!
>>724198131i didn't side with anyone. the war just seemed so inconsequential when alduin was trying to eat the world.
>>724200161but the septim empire died literally an age ago
>>724202165I mean, sure, but what do you do after you defeat Alduin, Miraak, and the vampires?
>>724198131I sided with them because their had cool looking armor.
>>724198131It's an interesting bait and switch that the imperials are objectively the lesser of two evils and if you side with the stormcloaks it sets both the remains of the Empire and Skyrim to be isolated and wiped out by the elves
>>724203715Start modding the game of course
>>724204029>durr we need the big empire to defeat the elves that have infiltrated and subverted every aspect of the big empire! That's like saying that we shouldn't seek the destruction of the United States because we need the big American army to defeat Israel. You're also forgetting that Hammerfell took on the Thalmor and won, imagine what a Hammerfell + Skyrim alliance could accomplish. The Empire is decadent, weak, and subverted. It offers no future.
>>724200161>he played Morrowind>This makes him MORE likely to side with the imperialsyou did not play either game. You are an oblivion baby at best.
don't remember, my last (current) character is 200+ hours in, haven't started the quest. vanilla with legendary weathers mod, and a followers mod for outfits.all those cute dunmer girls, and you can't marry or have them as followers. janessa is okay, too bad about her default animations.
I started a modded playthrough earlier this year, all I wanted to do was summon skeles.
>Why does the prisoner transport arrive from the south road?>What border were you supposedly caught at and why were you traveling with the Stormcloaks?>How do Ralof/Hadvar know you're from Cyrodiil?Find out next time, on Dragon Born Z!
>>724207403>>How do Ralof/Hadvar know you're from Cyrodiil?Dumbass, because there is only one country bordering Skyrim to the south, Cyrodiil. The rest is not answered so you can create your own character.
>>724198131now imagine if bethesda actually kept the original escape sequence in. the one that made Ulfric way more relatable to the players
>>724199738Found the Hiaalu cuck
>>724207768What does Cyrodiil bordering Skyrim to the south have to do with anything? You weren't caught at the south border, and even if you were, you were caught with a party of Stormcloaks. Were they from Cyrodiil too?
>>724208575>You weren't caught at the south borderYes you were.>you were caught with a party of StormcloaksThey were likely moving along the border and you got caught up in the Imperial ambush with them. They weren't crossing the border. They were likely about to attack Helgen seeing as Ralof is with them and was from the town.
>>724209121>I can't remember the last time I slept. Where to start? Well, the news you heard about Ulfric was true. The Imperials ambushed us outside Darkwater Crossing.>Darkwater CrossingLocated in the southwest of Eastmarch, refers specifically to a village and its bridge that cross the Darkwater River. Nowhere near any border, let alone the Pale Pass, which ironically enough is canonically inaccessible as of 4E 201.What's the next step of your master plan?
>>724207915What was the original?
>>724198131>>724199590You don’t kill Balgruf, he and his douchy family become political prisoners.
>>724209460From the Wiki>On the 17th of Last Seed, 4E 201, Ulfric Stormcloak and a bodyguard of Stormcloak Soldiers (including Ralof and Gunjar) were sent to Helgen for public execution after being caught in a trap set by the Empire near Darkwater Crossing. Also among the prisoners was a horse thief of Rorikstead, Lokir, and an individual later revealed to be the Dragonborn, who had also gotten caught up in an Imperial ambush while attempting to cross the border from Cyrodiil.Sorry bud, you're wrong.
>>724210495What about that statement makes me wrong? My point was that a lot of the dialogue in the first fifteen or so minutes is contradictory. Contradictions mean that multiple statements can be true and false at the same time. It's not a question of who is right and who is wrong, rather, what the fuck is going on?So which is it? Did the Dragonborn get caught with the Stormcloaks at Darkwater Crossing, or did he/she get caught trying to cross a border whose only known crossing has been closed? Uhh, it's both! Yeah, that makes sense!
>>724210495>From the WikiWhich one?
>>724198131As far as I know, you can kill anyone in this game. What happens if I just kill the Jarl as soon as I meet him? Do the Stormcloaks aknowledge me praise me for it, or do I just screw over my game?
>>724212071>As far as I know, you can kill anyone in this game. You can't, some characters are essential,
>>724211987It's not like that even matters. The summarized order of events he's referencing are all pulled directly from in-game dialogue, which again was kind of the point; the game constantly contradicts itself. It's like five different people were conscripted to write the same general storyline without consulting each other, then a sixth assembled their order of events and dialogue with no regard for what the fuck is actually going on.
>>724212071lol noanyone important is essential until whatever quest removes it. for ulfric he's essential until the end of the civil war quests.
>>724212317Which wiki?
>>724212557There are two primary ones, Skyrim Fandom and UESP. I'm not sure which one or which page he pulled that from, probably either because they overlap or are copied and/or written by the same person.
>>724211843It does, you obtuse retard. He crossed the border illegally, went to Darkwater Crossing, and got captured along with the other Stormcloaks.
>>724208575I don't recall the game saying you were caught with the Stormcloaks. If that were the case Ralof would have no need to tell you how he was captured. >ulfric is captured at darkwater>tullius travels down with him to pale pass>route is blocked so they head back to helgen to do an impromptu execution there>dragonborn is picked up along the wayThat's how I always imagined it.
>>724214283The more I think about it the more retarded this scenario is. You watch the horse thief freak out in real time after realizing hes in the cart with Ulfric Stormcloak and is about to be executed. If he was captured at Darkwater Crossing he'd have to have been in that cart long enough to figure out who was sitting in front of him.
>>724213713>You were trying to cross the border, same as us, and that thief over thereSo they all crossed the border successfully, then got ambushed at Darkwater Crossing, whereupon the prisoner transport passed through Helgen, did a 360 and moonwalked back to Helgen?
>>724198131>like empire outfits>join empire
>>724214283Well, Ralof implies is with the very first line of dialogue>>724215508For the sake of discussion, let's assume this theory though...>What border were Ralof/Ulfric captured at? Darkwater isn't a border crossing.>How does Tullius not know the Pale Pass is closed even though its closure has been a major issue up to that point, preventing reinforcements from Cyrodiil to aid in the civil war?>Why does Hadvar say that he "thought we were taking him to Cyrodiil, but we stopped in Helgen" implying they never even went past Helgen?See what I mean? How nobody on the dev team even read the script? This would all be on the first page or two.
>>724198131Humans are weird man we have non-white white nationalists on this very board. I always went Stormcloaks or just ignored it entirely. Also, wiping out the Dark Brotherhood 9/10 times because they're shit and reddit. Donating that cash I got to the Stormcloak cause (roleplay)
stormcloaks>fighting for religious freedom/independenceimperials>fighting for their jewish masters>thalmor walk around like they own the placeyou aren't white/asian if you didn't pick the stormcloaks
