The first three games are amazing in their own ways, and so is 4, but with how they gutted Ryu's moveset... you'd think they'd get the moveset of the ONE weapon they give him right, but no. Once I'm done doing al the challenges and beating MN (without the retarded warning circle, strong attack indicator, or NG+) I'm going right back to Razor's Edge, which has some much harder trials still waiting to be done, and at least there I can enjoy peak dragon sword moveset.

Personally, I find it the worst game in the series and insulting to the legacy of the franchise since they completely ignore what made the first two special. As a spin-off, it would've been fine but carrying the mantle as a numbered game? It's an insult.None of your attacks carry any weight to them so it's a very mechanic feel now and more about flash. And then this game has a fucking obsession with bottomless pits everywhere. For an action game, it wants you to dance but every fucking ledge leads to a bottomless pit. First chapter? Bottomless pits everywhere. Make it to the forest? Bottomless pits everywhere. What it does well is give you a ton of moves to work with and a decent toolset but none of the space to move around with. And jumping off walls, using the environment to fight like in the OG games is useless now. I can see how newcomers like the game but if you've played the older games, it doesn't do well capturing the spirit.

I pirated NG4 and found it so uninteresting and mid that I didn't bother finishing it. The way you magnetize to enemies when attacking feels completely unlike NG and just like MGR or whatever shitty games Platinum made in the past. Also the rail grind sections are fucking awful, and the boss fights are generic as you can get.It actually inspired me to emulate NGB and see if I still liked it, and turns out NGB is the only good NG game. NG2 Black fucking sucked ass, the Sigma version of NG1 sucks, and NG3 all versions are dogshit. The series literally has one good game lmao.

It's a fine action game as far as platnium slop goes but it's not a good ninja gaiden game. It doesn't understand the fundamentals. What made NG good was that it has rules and was balanced like a fighting game. Enemies didn't just iframe through your attacks because they were dodging. There was a real sense of neutral and spacing.

The UT spam meme is forced, maybe when you got upgraded weapons, tonfas and you can actually kill stuff UT chaining is viable but until you get there your UTs actually don't do much damage unless max charge and you actually need the essence you get from the UTs to upgrade your weapons and get items. I'm liking the balance a lot, but if it's anything like Hard it'll go to shit after chapter 11 anyway lol

Just finished Master Ninja. It's a good action game overall, but it's very much Platinums take on NG rather than a continuation of NG Black & 2. I'm probably about to buzzword out the ass but I don't know how else to describe it, combat feels very .. "zoomed out" and arcadey, leaning on on wave clearing large groups at once with the various meter build -> big attacks than focusing on single enemies at a time. Lots of very forgiving inputs as well, why you can just spam Guillotine Throw mid animation (and mid enemy charge attack) with a massive activation hitbox I don't know. Bosses are kinda good overall, but again they were very easy to just spam against because lots of the design was around being able to punish red charge attacks, which gave you HUGE windows to blow them up, even on MN.

the biggest buzz kill for me right now is that my scores aren't uploading. there were one two boss trials that did. double checked to make sure no "auto movement" options were on.every now and then i see the matrix and get a no item run that'd be sick on the leaderboards. unless tons of other people are having the same issue, i'd be top 10 on a few of these trials on my first try
