>First console does decent but doesn't really compete with the market leader
>Second console is their best, does well in murica, but in the end still loses
>Third console is doomed from the start by bad decisions, never recovers
>Fourth console tries to correct the course to bring back the fans, but it's too late.
>Becomes a third party and sees their defining franchise on their main rival console.

People say Sonic went to shit because SEGA stopped trying when they were no longer competing but I fail to see how Halo can go even lower

It sucks that Xbox is now going to be compared to Sega because Sega was one of the good ones. Even to the end, they were looking out for their customer's best interests, it had free online multiplayer, the first of its kind. The Dreamcast was ahead of its time, the reason it flopped was due to third parties abandoning it, much like what happened with Nintendo many times in the past (even that gen with the GameCube).

I say that as someone who really adored the PS2. Sega was a force for good, unlike Microsoft who pioneered all the modern day dogshit in vidya like paid online, digital currency with "Microsoft points", microtransactions, endless yearly Call of Halo: Gears of Battlefield slop, not owning your game, subscription services, etc.

The OG Xbox and the 360 had some things to like about it, but Sega is (or was) 10x better than Xbox when they were in the console race. Much more soulful too.

Xbox is so much worse
>Paid Jap devs to put long running entries onto the Xbox
>Flopped because nobody in Japan is buying an xbox killing those franchises
>Purchased a bunch of gaming companies
>Then ran those companies into the ground because Microsoft is trash
>Xbox hardware is consistently shit unlike Sega
>The very few good Microsoft first party games over the past 25 years were released as PC exclusives meaning they had no good games unlike Sega

Retarded fanboy shit. No big company is doing that, all of them are just doing whatever they think will make them the most money.

My fear is Microsoft will now do Games for Windows Live again.

What are your thoughts on this thing and how it drifts harder than an Initial D character?

Every controller does that nowadays, it's just part of a wider trend.
